Adrianne Curry: “Boycott Black History Month!”

Adrian recently stated that Black History Month was racist, but does not know enough about History to know that there is Asian Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritgae Month, as well as American Indian Month. Black History Month was started to pay homage to important contributions of African Americans who had succeeded in spite of the racism in the United States. Adrian shows that she is a TV-made model, not a Historian.
Adrian, you need to thank A Black woman named Tyra for anyone knowing who the hell you are. I hope that Adrian will reep the nastiness that she has sown and that the rest of the racists who posted stupid comments about eliminating Black History Month will feel the wrath of the Universe for not realizing their white privilege. Black History Month can not take anything away from white people. If white people would stop complaining about Black people and use their privilege with intelligence, they would not have to be so jealous of Black people who excel at and are the best at anything that they try to do. Who are the top people in any arena? I know why white people are mad at Black people… because Black people still exist in spite of the destruction that some white people have tried to create. As Dubois said “I could beat my white class mates in any competition, I could beat them in a foot race, an academic race, and I could whip a white kid in a fist fight!”

Ok what was the point of this? She sounds like a junior high dropout complaining about everything. I remember black history month in school and only heard about Dr. Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks and Rev. Jesse Jackson every year from grade school through high school. When I got to college I felt robbed when I first heard about Medgar Evers. I wasn’t learning about anything in school and my teachers made sure to talk about the same stuff over and again.

We have black history month to honor our past and not to forget are black forefathers who helped build this country. And the last time I check we learn about European History all school year long. Believe me one month isn’t hurting anyone. When my older sister was in school it was a week. We’re making progress but we are not even there yet!

I’m black and for over 10 years lived within a mostly white town during my teens. I’ve learned that the majority always wins. when you are discriminated against, the majority who were white had the option to care about me being bullied, beaten-up, and mocked by students and teachers alike. That is human nature (the majority rules).

It was very rare to ever see any positive accounts of people from any non-white standings; something that has been spoken about in earlier post.

My idea is that if Black History Month was cancelled, what standing do other minorities believe will allow them to have their own?

I think that every ethnic group should be represented with a holiday–who isn’t mirrored back through the mainstream. Because in all reality, aside from sports, and some popular talk-shows and movies–the idea that minorities are ‘normal’ ‘middle-class’ people is rarely portrayed.

Money is a big culprit for this; BET was a landmark idea to establish ‘positive overtones’ for minorities in it’s origin. Now, like all other television networks, it has to survive–and survival usually involves sensationalizing on our fears and/or non-educational/artistic valued programming like Dave Chappelle’s show.. which reinforced sterotypes to all white towns who never meet black people in person, but only have vibrant stigma imagery to judge by. It’s sad, that many white college students take these images (including sensationalized racist, sexist, violent gangster rap) and graduate from college to run the world with these ideas.

To be honest, I love everyone on this earth more than most of you will ever know. But, many of the facts I listed above weren’t learned solely from the text books I chose to read–I’m aware of them because this is the life I’ve been forced to live, since I was a child.

It takes life experience, education, priviledge, self-motivation, and most importantly Love for yourself and others to make a REAL change.

Everyone has their own opinion, and no matter how absurd you may think it is, there is a real-life story behind it.. Try to walk in someone else’s shoes, see their view before judging, and you’ll find an easier compromise that will you both out, that creates the foundation for more progress in the future.

First of all, African American are not the only people that have their own channel or History month , almost every race has Holiday or channel in the U.S that represent them. This chick needs to look up the definition of BLIND RACISM.. she is ignorant, hypocrite,. Ah! Where have you been, There are several months dedicated to the various ethnic groups here in America, there is one for the Jews, Asians, Latinos, and Us the African Americans. What ignorance, white people have their own channels too, like NBC, just not explicitly “white”…there is nothing wrong with BET providing programming targeted to black people, maybe black people can’t relate to Friends or Seinfeld..doesn’t mean it is racist or anti-white. Do you think a black, latino, or asian audience was in mind when many of these shows were created? Many white people appear on BET shows and music videos, hell even NSYNC has had music videos played on BET.

1.) BET(Black Entertainment Television)- came about in the early 1980’s. Do you know why, doofus? Well, MTV was notoriously racist. Black music videos were not allowed on the station, period. Why? Because MTV was afraid that their racist white suburbanite viewers would tune out the moment they tuned into black faces. So, being as industrious as we’ve had to be throughout our history, BET was created to be OUR MTV. BET aired black videos that would have, otherwise, gone completely unseen. It was not until Michael Jackson released “Thriller” that MTV finally broke down it’s color barrier. However, BET found it’s niche and continued. Why in the hell should the station go off the goddamn air simply because some retarded, racist, troglydyte(I’m talking to you Ms. Curry)thinks that it is “promoting” segregation? Honestly, you have no CLUE what the term actually entails…

Be that as it may BET is no longer a “Black Station.” You see Adrienne, you dunderhead(god I cannot get over how stupid you are), the station was bought out buy VIACOM a few years back. Many blacks are Native and African American so you’re comments reveal such ignorance. .

Many blacks are White and African American but could not say it for a long time. Today their words are not even taken seriously..

Blacks were never apologized to (offically like other groups). Wow that one blows my mind. That’s after 400 years of slavery and more than a 100 years of oppression that brings us up to the 1960s. Even then, many blacks were not allowed to vote.

I won’t go into what happen in Florida just the other day.

All people of darker skin are discrimminated around the world. Who do you think really has the problem? The world does cause if blacks or darker people goes down, so does the other groups. Like Kennedy said we are on this earth together.

and get an education on certain topics before you talk.
