to tell an entire race of people whom have had everything stripped from them over time; a race of people whom were taken from their home, brought to a new land, and then held as a lesser being for ages; a race of people whom have faced ridicule for our actions, all the while trying to fight and erase what history and THE PRESENT has done/is doing to us as a people .. to tell an entire race of that historical precedence to move the **** on … needless to say, only makes you come off more ignorant than I’m sure you ever planned to. your idea, in the grand scheme of things, is understandable even though its very idealistic, but at the same time, it seems like its stemming more from jealousy that native americans dont have a month or jewish people for that matter. we dont celebrate in order to segregate for an entire month, we celebrate to MAKE SURE that our culture finally and fully gets recognition for all the contributions we’ve brought to the world and to the Americas. so if you have a problem with it, go ask your old boyfriend, the blackest of the black one, his opinion on your blog. and as far as BET goes, who the hell cares? honestly

There is also Puerto rican day parades in NY and china town St Patricks day parade so don’t start with that sh*t! If black people wanted anything in this country we have fought for it. we have opened doors for ourselves and other minorities in this country so for other minorities talking bad about blacks is hurtful to me. a black person was the first to win an oscar. so that set the stage for other enicities to do so too! Us minorities should stand together.

I feel so sorry for the true americans that we slaughtered by chris columbus and they are still suffering and they didn’t get anything for that except sh*tty land and free college. I feel for asians too what the white people did was DISGUSTING to you using you as free labor in HAWAII and putting you in camps.

However the jews were offered money and free entry into america. Black people got nothing absolutely nothing. We effin helped build this country and we got nothing in return. Sure some black people do play the race card. however in 2007 look the hell around not much has changed. schools with mostly minorties are vastly different then those of predominatly white students ive been to both and the white schools we way nicer.

BET was started by a poor black man that built that channel from the ground up so he could see black artists get a chance to showcase their music and acting because other channels not including MTV didn’t play that music. And im glad the man that created is NOW A BILLIONAIRE! There are PLENTY OF OTHER CHANNELS DEDICATED TO LATINOS EVER HEARD OF MTV TRES! HBO LATINO? UNIVISION? THERE IS BOLLYWOOD CHANNELS AND Asian ones too! SO DON’T EVEN SAY THAT WE SHOULDN’T HAVE ONE DAMN CHANNEL. You wanna say we segregate OURSELVES NO we DON’T! This girl has lost her Brady Bunch mind. I am an African American woman and I appreciate my little 28 days a year…oh let’s not forget leap year when we get 29 days. Black History month is more than just recognizing the fact that there were slaves. Black History month is education, every year something different is presented. If other races don’t appreciate it oh well, you don’t have to but don’t try to Boycott something because you’re ignorant. Allow me and other African Americans to enjoy our month..it’s the shortest month in the year anyway, so what kind of inconvience is it really?

This lady clearly does not understand the importance of “Black History Month” to the African American Community. Of course not, she is not black. People say that blacks should get over the slavery issue. As a proud black woman I can say that we have come along way but we still have a long way to go. Jena 6 is a good example of what blacks are still dealing with today. Although Jena 6 was nationally broadcasted there are hundreds of these cases around the world.

I have read all the comments about what Curry has said and I am in total shock of all the ignorance. It amazes me how other races have the audacity to tell blacks how we should feel about slavery and racism. I suggest they trade places with the young black male who just got stopped by the police while leaving the gym because they didn’t like how he looked. Better yet, trade places with the black female who has been on the job for 10 years and got looked over for promotion twice by her white supervisors because they wanted a white person to fill that slot. Last but not least, trade places with the mother of the 16 year old black girl who was thrown to ground by a white officer, handcuffed and placed in jail for 2 months for defending herself after a group white girls (same age) jumped her after school. If you are wondering about the white girls who jumped her, don’t nothing happend to them.

Adrian Curry is very uneducated and the people who agree with her are even more uneducated White history month is everyday look at Tv they’re on almost every show for example I’m watching the E! Network and everyone they talked about was white, everytime they’re talking about the most beautiful, most talented new artist, the most talented they’re always white. Without special programs like Bet and Black History month when would blac people ever get their shine because Lord knows white people acknowledge us and they never will so to get rid of teh only thing we have would just be stupid.

About 40 yrs ago I had a job in a chinese resturant delivering food. Besides an anamils hair grows down, and mine grows up. Now, can american history tell me how many white men were lynched for looking at a black woman, or when was the greatest terroist atack happened in this country, and it was not sept 11 2001, also the so called jews are to slick to have been slaves,all that foolishness they put in the old testament cannot be proven historically, example moses parting the red sea, if that was the case why didn’t they stop hittler. since they are gods choosen, why would they have to fight for land that belongs to someone else.Phillip of massadonia had a son who white people say was great, but he was an invader who didn’t live to be 30yrs old. wanted to be a god. But died, after that his generals took over, a land named after a pirate, black history taught me this, someone once said if you don’t know your history you’re bound to repete it. And we cam’t let a white person tell our history they have black people clamining that we were canabals, a young man told me this once, so I asked him about the Donna party, he didn’t know what I was talking about. Also in Ganna there is a white male image on every corner, why are we whorshiping a god who’s gensis is white, when the people of color in the world come together, they will find out that he came to steal, lie and destroy because everywhere he go’s and there is light he puts it out, proving he dosen’t know the true and living god. Also Calpornius piso wrote the new testament, with that kind of history they don’t need to whine. the white man is trying to elimate the black man and god is getting rid of him.He has the nerve to call that book that he fabracated after stealing it from Khimit. Then they had the dark ages. which lasted 1000yrs then king jimmy and that bunch of **** rewrote the so called Bible the word of god, what idiot can tell you what god said. that takes balls. These fools only tell the world what makes them shine above God, Also young lady a real black man would’t have anything to do with the children of Set, if he knows what’s good for him.

Ok if you are not going to do your homework do not complain, first of all as stated there is a monyh that celebrates all ethnic heritage. She stated that there should be college funds for Native Americans etc, Well maybe if she went to college she would know that there are college funds for all ethnic groups not just one. I think the idea of one America is a nice one but will never be a true one, because as long as people make stupid comments like hers we will never be able to move forward, And yes smart a$# Jews and Native Americans etc, do still speak about being inslaved and Hitler because if you do not teach about the past you are destined to repeat the mistakes. I hope that one day you really grow up and see the world for what it really is.

i can understand the idea of people coming together to celebrate being americans, but i do not think that black history month is racist. celebrating diversity is not racist, but there are people (of many different ethnicities) that are ignorant. the sad thing is that only black people are excited about black history month, or that most people do not know that there is a native american history month, etc. It is important to unite as one, but you can never forget your past. We all have something to learn from one another.
whether BET is good for young black society is another question all together. there are double standards that do exist- but black history month is an amazing thing, and im glad we have it.
