Brad & Angelina in Washington DC
Brad Pitt paid a surprise visit to The Washington Post’s newsroom on Friday to research his upcoming role as an investigative reporter in State of Play, a Washington-based drama about hard-nosed journos trying to solve the murder of a young political staffer.
Brad and State of Play director Kevin Macdonald lunched with Post execs and reporters, including military affairs and Pentagon reporter Josh White and investigative reporter James Grimaldi.
Angelina Jolie was busying meeting with Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice to discuss her recent trip to Iraq and Syria.

love the “Financial Times” write up. How true about Brad and Angelina visibly raising the bar, by proving they have both beauty and intelligence.
It’s interesting how the writer says that in real life, those who become stars have talent and intelligence to begin with. I must say when I first became interested in Brad and Angelina, I did think actors were dumb which was why I wasn’t very interested in Brad even though I could see he looked good. I did take notice of Angelina because she was UN goodwill ambassador.
I still think some actors are dumb, but those who survive for years and years on the Alist are definitely, talented and smart. People like clooney, damon, pitt, jolie, etc. Time will tell whether Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck etc make the cut.
Also, love that Andrew Eaton’s diary.

I just saw the film, and I have to say it was a magnificent experience. The film does require some level of above average patience since it moves at a fairly leisure and slow pace, so this isn’t exactly for your average film goer. Anyhow, the film features an immensly compelling narrative, with great breadth and vision, that at the end feels like an epic tragedy. This film while containing some action one would expect in a western, is prominently a psychological character study. The visuals are absolutely breathtaking. I cannot say enough about the beauty of the cinematography by Roger Deakins and crew in this film, with elaborate shots of various landscapes and the sky. The musical score of the film is beautiful, yet at times chilling with how it is blended into the narrative. The performances by Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck are terrific, as well as the supporting cast, but the two leads carry the film, with very layered, complex performances. Its great to see Brad Pitt deliver an excellent performance in a serious, ambitious film, as lately things that are absolutely irrelevant to his craft and to anybody besides him have overshadowed his public persona. And Casey Affleck is definitely “here” with a great performance in a lead role. Andrew Dominik shows some serious artistic poise and vision with this masterfully and meticulously crafted film, especially for his second film. And along with what I thought was the terrific, albeit significantly different in tone and storytelling, “3:10 to Yuma”, its great to see to excellent westerns this year, as they have long been obscure. So I highly recommend for anybody who appreciates high caliber films to check out this one.

Angelina Jolie who bagged an Oscar for Girl interrupted, definitely deserves another for her portrayal of Marianne, the pregnant french wife ofDaniel Pearl- the Us journalist kidnapped and killed by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002.
The outcome of this riveting thriller is never in doubt but Michall Winterbottom directs as tense and as terrifying a tale as any fiction with police in a race against time to nab kidnappers.
His extremely effective documentary style and smart use of locations mean the movie- based on Mariane’s nightmare memoirs carries a huge Dramatic impact.
Dan Futterman as Pearl,s husband is ideally cast as are all roles.Ironically,Pearl a Jew was accussed of being a Mossad agent but was brutally killed because he was American.
WELL DONE ANGELINA AND BRAD

That just shows how respected Angelina is for her humanitarian work. How many people meet with Colin Powell and Condi Rice?

Jolie stop acting like a freakin’ politician… rubbing elbows with Washington. Oh, and I guess Brad is lining up another movie… will this family circus ever go away? what happened to getting out of the business… do us a favor and go.. the sooner the better. Media Wh***s!
Eaton’s diary says includes Pax being wiht them. That is not true. They did not have Pax. Shiloh was a baby and they kept her covered when out. Only Z and Maddox went out.
Thank you Jared for the new thread!! So there wasn’t a premiere yesterday after all I see. Good. At least they can relax for some days!!
These two are deeply committed to their causes either if it is about acting or humanitarian activities. They are hard workers and great planners. And of course they can’t stay away from one another.LOL!!! ;)
They are simply living their lives doing the best they can!! More power to them!!
Good morning-evening folks!!

…………..
This is the reason the movie took two years to hit the theater. This is the reason there were so many edits. This is the reason it will have
terrible BO numbers but this is also the reason it will do great on DVD.

This is the reason this movie is a great win for Brad(and Casey). Brad acting has been applauded. This is the second year in a row that Brad’s acting has been mention Oscar worthy. Brad has not had such great reviews for his acting in many many years. The best is yet to come.
jOLIE is the beating heart of this urgent, unbearable tense dramatic reconstruction of the last days of the American journalist Daniel Pearl. She is also the thing that derails the movie.
Winterbottom’s lean, direct approach to the story serves it well- there is no time for padding, little oppotunity even to draw breath, and the naturalistic perfomances from the ensemble cast are utterly convincing.HoWever, throw into the mix the Global phenomenon that is Jolie A WOMAN SO FAMOUS THAT SHE CAN BRING AN ENTIRE CONTINENT TO A STAND STILL.This little Indie film creaks and wobbles under the weight of all that celebrity. It is not that Jolie
is bad - BY THE END OF THE FILM SHE HAS WON US OVER WITH SUCH A FORCEFUL DISPLAY OF GRIEF THAT IT LEAVE YOU LIMP AND WRUNG OUT.
ITS JUST THAT IT TAKE YOU A WHILE TO ACCEPT HER PERFORMANCE AS MARRIANE PEARL,RATHER THAN SIMPLY A WIG AND A BIG SIGN THAT READ POTENTIAL OSCAR WINNER. BY WENDY IDE THE TIMES UK
