OlderBritney’s Breakdown — Tears and Possible Jail Time
From bad… to worse.
Britney Spears broke down into tears as she entered her lawyer’s office on Friday in Los Angeles.
“She pulled up in the car, and then suddenly tears started streaming down her face,” one eyewitness tells OK!.
Brit received news from the Los Angeles City Attorney that she was charged with one count of hit-and-run causing property damage and driving without a valid license.
“According to the DMV, Ms. Spears was never issued a California license – ever,” City Attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan told People.
This all stems from a fender-bender in a Los Angeles parking lot on August 6 (video here).
Brit faces a maximum sentence of 6 months in jail for each of the two misdemeanors. A hearing is set for October 10 in Van Nuys Superior Court.

It is disturbing and sub-human to find joy in someone’s misery or meltdown.
Yeah, she screwed up her life, made bad decisions. It’s so sad to see her reap what she sowed. I hope she really takes these trying times in her life and learns from them. Inspite of it all, I do feel sympathy for her. Sympathy because it seems like it’s so hard for her to see her own mistakes and to turn herself around.
It makes me sad to see her cry. I hope she turns things around soon.
Forget about a comeback or even a career. Se’s made enough money t never have to work in her life again. Take care of you Britney. Your babies need you. I was never a fan but I’m not a fan of people going thru turmoil.
I am not a Britney fan but I do feel for her. Seeing how things started to unravel after the birth of her second child, I feel she might be going through a pretty severe case of PPD (postpartum depression). She really needs to seek therapy above all else.
I don’t want the next headline to include her name and “suicide” right after.
Though she is a celebrity and it seems like we can laugh and make fun of her all we want, she is a daughter, sister, friend, and mother. I feel for them too, most especially her boys, as I am sure it is just heartbreaking to see her go through this and not knowing what to do, ontop of the paparazzi and public watching your every move and seemingly watching to taunt and not support them.
After my own son’s birth, I had a period of ‘babyblues’ but thankfully I had the love and support of my family, and not the prying eyes of the paparazzi or the scandal hungry tabloids. If they were added to the equation, it might be hard for me to overcome that period as well.
Why not show our support for her, not her behavior but her person so her children will get their mother back and her family, the Britney they have missed.

Why the pity for Britney, when she trashed someone else’s car, and left the scene without legally (and respectfully) reporting it to the owner?
The law needs to intervene to STOP Britney for her OWN SAKE, at the very least. I kid you not, this girl is going to kill herself, and will take her kids with her. Believe it.
I agree with Anon (18). Britney has severe problems which need treatment now before a tragedy happens. This is beyond just a bad performance or numerous photos of her backside - she needs help. First off, it would be good if the pap’z would just leave her alone, but we all know that this isn’t going to happen. I hope that she will accept the help of her family and friends before something really bad takes place.
I’ve never been a fan of Britney, but it is becoming clear that she has some serious mental issues. She seems like she is on the verge of a nervous breakdown and I hope that she gets the help she so obviously needs. After seeing the above picture of her breaking down and it literally is breaking my heart, I look at her and see that it could my daughter or if any of you are old at all on this site, perhaps your daughter. But mosst daughters have someone to turn to. Who really does Britney have anymore. Her parents seemed from the get go to take Kevins side without trying to help poor Britney. She really can’tdo anything right, it’s either this way or that. However, the paps want to spin it. She doesn’t know how to be normal, she did not grow up that way. Justin lied on Oprah the other day saying he had not talked to her in years, when documented interviews say otherwise. He is supposedly supposed to to care about her as a person. in most states if you are going to reside/live/move from one state to another and have an out of state license you have so many days/months to switch it over. Britney has lived in Cali.,for awhile now.
I notice when she hit the other persons car she asked” is my car okay”?.never checked the other persons car/as said before- no note. what was weird also was a pap asked her to sit back or stoop down or something and she was in a dress, which when bending one could look up her dress,the paps were snapping away at it,they knew they may have gotten a panty/vayjay pic. and she didnt close her legs, or put her hand up to cover the gap or anything. i can believe she calls the paps.

I cannot believe what we heard. She is totally oblivious to the other car! It is as though she hit a tree or a rock, not someone else’s property. Perhaps the owner of the other car worked very hard to pay for it, and I cannot imagine what the deductible must be in California, but I bet it is steep. To never even LOOK at or ask about the other car is as true a sign of a narcissist as there might be, I would imagine. How about the tears of the person who came out to find their car scraped? Maybe they had borrowed it, rented it, etc. and that would cause greater problems for them. Anyone who is feeling sorry for her, especially when it turns out she didn’t even have enough sense to apply for a driver’s license, is not thinking clearly. And I agree, she surely called photographers to let them know where she was going to be. People reading this are much too vicious. I feel badly for her because she has been used and destroyed by the same system that used her. She’s a product of the media and her life is hell on earth as a result. I hope she can find some peace in her life. You and I (so called “normal” people) really have no idea what it is like to walk a mile in that girl’s shoes. I’m not a fan but I am a Mother with a daughter of my own. I’d never wish fame on a child of mine. Her youth was stolen from her and that’s sad. Sometimes I think Britney’s fans are all 12 years old with no brains; but, then again that’s how Britney acts and thinks so I guess it’s no surprise. Of course, no one expected her to leave HER number on the car. Why didn’t she leave her lawyer’s number, which is a public number? Why didn’t she give her lawyer the license number of the other car and ask her to handle it? She did nothing. She didn’t even look at the other car to see if it was damaged, but she did look at her own. And from what was reported earlier, the woman who’s car was hit said they tried to contact her, but her people didn’t return calls. Britney had more than enough time to settle this before it went this far.
I have long felt she was a bad mother, terrible role model and a shallow shell of a person, but I have to say I am not sure that the pap’s and the media will be happy until they drive this girl insane or to suicide. It is turning into a self-fulfilling prophecy for the media- THEY will push her to the edge, and then reap the rewards for carrying non-stop coverage on her untimely death or institutionalization. Warped.

Britney your fans love you SO MUCH and will stick by your side during this difficult time, no matter how difficult things might become, NEVER forget that there are thousands of people out there who love you no matter what. You are a strong, beautiful and stubborn woman :), and you can get through this rough patch in your life. This will not define the rest of your life, all the best is yet to come. Some of the biggest reasons as to why you’re fans love you is your determination, the way you can light up ones day with that beautiful smile of yours, and your BIG HEART. No one is perfect, and the fact that you are showing the world that EVERYONE goes through hard times only makes you a bigger inspiration to your fans. Like I said you are the most strong, beautiful and stubborn woman out there. This will only make you stronger. You can never give up Britney, because your fans will never let you. I don’t think you know how many lives you have inspired and touched and I don’t think you realise how much your fans LOVE you for that.

Well, it’s sad for her! But she is an adult and she has two children. It’s time for her to act like an adult and to take her responsabilities. She really needs to clean up her life and to come back to the real life.
I’m sick and tired of all this poor Britney and where are here parent’s jazz. Britney was CAUGHT on VIDEO hitting the other car and not once stepping out to check if she had done any damage to either her car or the car involved in the incident. People feel bad for her because she was crying, well don’t. How many chances is a person entitled to before they start being held accountable for their actions? We’ve already seen how Britney reacts when people try to offer her help. The judge in her child custody hearing tells her no drinking, no drugs or you’ll lose your kids…what does Britney go and do right after this ruling? Why she goes out there and parties it up.
Her family isn’t to blame for the mess that her life has become. They warned her about marring K. Fed but she wouldn’t listen. When she was obviously doing things to harm herself, her family forced her into rehab. Instead of thanking them for their efforts what does Britney do? Cuts them off without ever looking back. She serves her own mother with legal papers telling her to stay away from her kids. This girl is ridiculous. I don’t care if she’s crying…everything she’s done, she’s done knowing full well what was going on. I’m not buying the whole post partum depression bull either. Britney has been acting erractically for the last 4-6 years. How else would you explain a 55 hr. marriage and all of the other craziness she found herself involved in.
Britney needs to freaking wake up and realize the what she needs most is the help, love and support of her family. She’s gotta stop acting like a spoiled freaking brat and own up to everything. Admit she’s got drug problems that have caused her to become mental and seek some real serious help for it. If she doesn’t, I’ll be there to celebrate when she loses her kids because she’s not deserved of them. Being able to pop out some kids does not a mother make. Britney better learn that lesson and other lessons in responsibility if she ever wants to even regain a bit of her happiness again.

No restraining order would prevent me form knoking down her door, heck even bull dozing that **** down and demanding that she sorts her self out, thats what i can not get, so her family shoud really intevene and not wait untill she’s suicidal. they probably think that we should wait till she hits rock bottom, but heck we’ve seen rock bottom numerous times so i really think the core bottom is what she needs to hit inevitably. it will be drastic and something that she really needs to hit and hopefully her family will have their lame heads out of thier asses not just britneys and be there when she does hit core bottom as opposed to rock bottom becuase rock bottom obviously doesn’t hit through her stubborn scule.
Coming back to this site and seeing this picture again, I have to admit I feel just a teeny bit bad for her. BUT, and this is a big but, she did bring about everything that has been happening to her lately. She really only has herself to blame.
I do agree that Britney should take responsibility for what is going on in her life, but I also believe that it’s not all her fault. I definately agree with #130 when you say that her family should step in and try to help her. Once again, I blame Kevin for this. He helped to create the division between her and her family from the start, crumbling what was once her support system. It’s not surprising that a little girl who was used by adults to make a fortune acting the role of a child porn star should be having problems making the transition to adulthood. She was never that beautiful or talented. Our own prurient interest in her 15-year-old self (and her willingness to pander to it) is at the root of her current problems.
