OlderBritney’s Breakdown — Tears and Possible Jail Time
From bad… to worse.
Britney Spears broke down into tears as she entered her lawyer’s office on Friday in Los Angeles.
“She pulled up in the car, and then suddenly tears started streaming down her face,” one eyewitness tells OK!.
Brit received news from the Los Angeles City Attorney that she was charged with one count of hit-and-run causing property damage and driving without a valid license.
“According to the DMV, Ms. Spears was never issued a California license – ever,” City Attorney’s spokesman Frank Mateljan told People.
This all stems from a fender-bender in a Los Angeles parking lot on August 6 (video here).
Brit faces a maximum sentence of 6 months in jail for each of the two misdemeanors. A hearing is set for October 10 in Van Nuys Superior Court.

I cannot believe what we heard. She is totally oblivious to the other car! It is as though she hit a tree or a rock, not someone else’s property. Perhaps the owner of the other car worked very hard to pay for it, and I cannot imagine what the deductible must be in California, but I bet it is steep. To never even LOOK at or ask about the other car is as true a sign of a narcissist as there might be, I would imagine. How about the tears of the person who came out to find their car scraped? Maybe they had borrowed it, rented it, etc. and that would cause greater problems for them. Anyone who is feeling sorry for her, especially when it turns out she didn’t even have enough sense to apply for a driver’s license, is not thinking clearly. And I agree, she surely called photographers to let them know where she was going to be. It is not reasonable to think they were all just hanging around the back door of a discount vitamin store on the off-chance someone important would stop by. YUCK.

It really disgusts me and saddens me to see the kind of ppl that are out there: wishing somebody ill, which is pretty bad if the person is ok, but worse when the person is obviously down.
yea, britney had it all, but she fell. i’m not a fan of hers, but i have empathy. depression and/or other emotional/psychological issues are no walk in the park or something you CHOOSE. sometimes life just hits you really hard…or you make mistakes and its really hard to get up again. i hope britney gets some help, stops hurting herself and those that love her, and let her family in again. this girl definitely needs her family’s love right now.
and if you enjoy watching her go thru this and wish her more ill, it just comes down to this: you’re a ****** person and probably not worth very much.
Poor Britney, stop harrassing the girl. How is she going to get better when everybody is up in her face all the time, doing nothing but talking trash and being really mean. I think Britney will literally break down if this continue. A person can only hold on for so long, ya know :(! Poor Brit.

Although I do feel bad for Ms. Spears, she deserves this. I love how she squats down to check if there was any damage to her car without any regard to the PARKED car that she hit. This is not a monster truck rally or a demolition derby.
I ask the Britney defending public this: If this was done to your car by some non-celebrity and was caught on tape and by some divine intervention, you recognized or someone else ID’d the offender , would you file charges? Would you be so nonchalant? I’m guessing: no.
One thing that everyone agrees on ( both pro and anti Brit) is that this girl needs help. So it troubles me when some “everyday” people find this excusable, then how can these “stars” believe that they should be accountable for anything.This is why they need help, no reality base.
And by the by, she was never issued a driver’s license. But that’s no big deal, right?

And to Bob the Prosecutor: It’s ok to admit that you come here. And you’re right, she didn’t smash into the car and will most likely not get a jail sentence. But please, lay off the lol’s when there is really nothing to lol about. Now, that’s shameful.

People reading this are much too vicious. I feel badly for her because she has been used and destroyed by the same system that used her. She’s a product of the media and her life is hell on earth as a result. I hope she can find some peace in her life. You and I (so called “normal” people) really have no idea what it is like to walk a mile in that girl’s shoes. I’m not a fan but I am a Mother with a daughter of my own. I’d never wish fame on a child of mine. Her youth was stolen from her and that’s sad. Can you even begin to imagine what it would be like to have camera’s shoved in your face every time you walked out the door or to have absolutely no privacy, even in your own home. Yes, she has certainly made some poor choices but who hasn’t? Fortunately for me, my youthful indiscretions were not plastered across the newspapers and internet. She is still being used and she will be used until she is used up and I really, really have a lot of compassion for the poor soul of this child. Leave her alone and pray that someone who truly cares about her will be able to get through to her and help her. I just say God bless her soul.
I am not a fan, but what i see is someone with mental issues who need help. All the media does is intensify those issues that she has…Keep pushing hard enough and she might just kill herself../.This girl like micheal jackson was another child slave in the entertainment business. They may have enjoyed it but it was no good for thier psycho social development.
I wish her well and hope that she can get the proper care that she needs. I sincerely beleive most of these issues are k-**** sticking it up to her through little threats and reports so he cna get more money after november. I dont think anyone in her state of mind deserves the harrasment and humuliation. How quick her family and friends dessert her in her time of need

Sometimes I think Britney’s fans are all 12 years old with no brains; but, then again that’s how Britney acts and thinks so I guess it’s no surprise. Of course, no one expected her to leave HER number on the car. Why didn’t she leave her lawyer’s number, which is a public number? Why didn’t she give her lawyer the license number of the other car and ask her to handle it? She did nothing. She didn’t even look at the other car to see if it was damaged, but she did look at her own. And from what was reported earlier, the woman who’s car was hit said they tried to contact her, but her people didn’t return calls. Britney had more than enough time to settle this before it went this far.
I have long felt she was a bad mother, terrible role model and a shallow shell of a person, but I have to say I am not sure that the pap’s and the media will be happy until they drive this girl insane or to suicide. It is turning into a self-fulfilling prophecy for the media- THEY will push her to the edge, and then reap the rewards for carrying non-stop coverage on her untimely death or institutionalization. Warped.
Poor Britney this poor Britney that. You guys should be saying poor kids. How many chances does this girl get? People are asking where her parents are….ummm didn’t she sue her mother and also claimed that her mother and K-Fed had an affair or something studid like that? Why will her parents want to put themselves in that situation again? She does drugs, gets drunk and does all this in front of her kids. If it were anyone else, those kids will have been taken away long time ago. Prison is the only way she will learn.

I’m really getting sick of seeing all these posts saying ‘Poor Britney’ and blaming everyone else except for her for everything she does. She’s a grown woman, she should know right from wrong by now. And I thought everyone knew that its against the law to leave the scene of an accident, no matter how minor, unless there was a mutual exchanging of information.
Kinda starting to feel sorry for her. One bad thing after another. Wonder how this is going to end.
