Oh no! Did Brad Pitt get into a motorcycle accident like pal George Clooney?

Brad was spotted with a (fake) bloody nose Sunday on the set of his new movie Burn After Reading, which is being filmed in New York City. He was seen wearing a bike helmet and screaming expletives.
In the film, John Malkovich play Ozzie Coxs, a former CIA agent whose soon-to-be ex-wife (Frances McDormand) steals a disc containing his memoirs and accidentally leaves it at the gym where it is found by a trainer (Pitt) who believes he can use the info to blackmail Cox. George Clooney will play an assassin hired by the CIA to take care of the situation. Tilda Swinton also costars.

THAM HIN REFUGEE CAMP, Thailand (UNHCR) - In Thailand refugee toddlers get a pre-school headstart on education and teenagers learn vital computer skills. In Azerbaijan refugee children have new playgrounds and learn to swim. In Uganda, thousands of refugee children are getting text books for the first time.
The unifying reason in these countries, together with help provided in Kenya, Liberia and Chad, is the funds raised through the ninemillion programme to help children driven from their homes by conflict and violence. The progamme is about to grow - with a goal of enhancing education for nine million children by 2010.
UN High Commissioner for Refugee António Guterres and UNHCR’s Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie will join former US president Bill Clinton at the September 26-28 meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, issuing a call to raise $220 million for refugee education. The CGI aims to inspire commitments of help from its members.
The UNHCR programme is aimed at providing Education (Plus) - education beyond the existing schooling now offered by UNHCR - to nine million refugee children by 2010. Education (Plus) will provide resources to develop a child’s full potential, with an emphasis on girls’ participation and additional activities like life-skills training, sport programs, disease prevention and access to technology.
Started in 2006, ninemillion has so far raised over US$ 2 million. These funds are already allocated to education and sport programmes in Thailand, Azerbaijan and Uganda. New projects are on the way.
The efforts of ninemillion are shifting towards improving education in three conflict zones around the world - Colombia, Iraq’s neighbours and Sudan’s Darfur region with its spillover into Chad. The potential benefits can be seen in places where extra UNHCR education assistance has already been provided.
Growing up in a refugee camp in Thailand, Aye Hla’s first three children didn’t have a chance to study beyond Grade Six. But she has higher hopes for her youngest son, Lweh Say, whom she cuddles in her lap on the floor of a new nursery school.
“I hope he can be an educated person, and this is a good start,” she says, gesturing around the large airy thatched building built and equipped with funds from the UNHCR-led ninemillion initiative. Thanks to the money raised for education and sports, refugee toddlers in Thailand are getting a pre-school head start, and refugee teenagers are learning vital computer skills.
In Azerbaijan, children of refugees and internally displaced people have learned to swim and to make healthy choices in life. New playgrounds have given 30,000 children a safe and fun place to play. In Uganda, thousands of refugee children are getting their own textbooks and school supplies for the first time, and teachers are getting real blackboards for desperately ill-equipped classrooms.
The conflict that Lweh Say’s ethnic Karen parents fled in Myanmar has been simmering for nearly six decades. But in Tham Hin refugee camp along the Thai-Myanmar border, his family is getting a chance for a brighter future: They are among thousands being considered for resettlement to the United States.
“The headstart he’s getting here will help him when we get to America,” says Aye Hla, referring to the nursery school’s “play and learning space”, which supports creative learning through special toys.
At a new computer centre that complements the normal curriculum for older children, ninemillion supplied the electricity to run the computers, and lessons are limited to 20 minutes each because there are so few computers.
Even so, enthusiastic students whizz through the basic English needed to follow the lessons and have learned to type. Some are even mastering Microsoft’s Powerpoint presentations. “I know my future will be good if I get a computer education,” says a confident 15-year-old girl named Naw Say Paw. “I know the computer is used all over the world.”
These serious issues of education will be discussed when Guterres and Jolie attend the deliberations of the CGI in New York, hoping to draw commitments of assistance from the influential participants.

Hello… she was a supporting cast member.

However, in the couple weeks that he has worked, this is the second set of pics to come out. Since he also had film festivals, junkets, and red carpets associated within the last few weeks, no, the dude wasn’t on set 24/7.

So true. HeidiK has three nannies, one per child. CCox’s child is always seen with her nanny or sometiems her dad, extremely rarely being held by her mom, and this has been from the time that child was born.
Angelina and Brad take turns working. Angelina is with the kids now while Brad works. Brad will be with the kids in LA while Angelina films the Changeling with Clint Eastwood. Brad still finds time to take Mad to school and to take the kids out to parks while he is working. Angelina did the same while making Wanted. They are both dedicated hands on parents.
Those who continue to criticize them as parents are either terrible parents themselves or childless no nothings because no one has any idea of how this family life really is except for the pixs that are taken by paps. These children are always well mannered, calmer than most would be with under the constant harrassment of the paps, and happy with their parents.

How right you are. Just read an article about how so many great actresses over 40 have migrated to TV roles because the movie roles have almost dried up for them except for a very few. Glen Close and Sally Field are examples. SandraB produces all her own movies now. WhoopieG is on the View. More movies are being made with animation and cartoons and fewer actual actors and with an eye to what sells to young people in the summer months. That Brad at 40+ and Angelina who does not really seek roles keep getting movies offered to them is proof of their worldwide earning power.
George Clooney actually produces most of his movies now. Brad has Plan B. Sean Penn is producing and directing. So it appears for 40+ guys to be going the same way as for 40+ women. But more 40+ guys become their own producers than 40+ women because of an unequal balance of power in Htown.

You could not be more wrong. Brad works because he is an actor and he is offered movie roles. He does not work 9-5 year in and year out. He has huge chunks of time off, like this year he did not work from May until the end of August on a movie except for 2 days in Montreal, ALMOST 4 MONTHS OFF. How many parents wish they had jobs like that? He also does not work every day on his movies. He spends lots of time with his family. He also knows that an actor’s career can be time limited. Brad is making hay while the sun shines. Why in the world would he stop working at his career that he enjoys? Bill Gates still works and he has many many billions of dollars.

Wrong…Brad and Cate got paid very little for Babel. Secondly I bet Brad and Angelina spend as much or more time with their kids as any two parents who work an 8 hour five day work week.
Brad and Angelina have days off. While Angelina is working Brad is home with the kids and vice versa.
Don’t know about this film but Brad had an agreement with O13 that he would be home at night. Angelina had that agreement also while in Prague.

He did not say his name but in the context of the conversation he indirectly implied that while Brad & George have the same anount of success, the paps don’t hound George while they do Brad. Using George as an example of even though you are a superstar you can have a life. He inferred that if George is proof that normalcy can be had at that level of stardom, then if your life is like Brad’s (meaning paps chasing & photographing you wherever you go), then that means you WANT it like that.

So happy to see both Brad and Angelina presenting at the Clinton conference. They both attended in 2005 but sat apart in sessions only to later meet up back at their hotel. Now they are presenting at different sessions and will for sure be in attendance for each other. Noticed that they are not listed as actors but as Co-Chairs of their foundation. They are united in their endeavors in every way.

Did anyone see Sunday Morning Shootout today?
Aaron Eckhart indirectly slammed Brad for purposely courting the paparazzi. He did not say his name but in the context of the conversation he indirectly implied that while Brad & George have the same anount of success, the paps don’t hound George while they do Brad. Using George as an example of even though you are a superstar you can have a life. He inferred that if George is proof that normalcy can be had at that level of stardom, then if your life is like Brad’s (meaning paps chasing & photographing you wherever you go), then that means you WANT it like that.

I have been coming to this site since the first pics of Angie and Brad started surfacing. I have always loved Brad since Thelma and Louise (GR8 MOVIE). I followed him with Juliette Lewis they were both gr8 in Kalifornia (You need to watch that movie if you havent seen it), Brad was GREAT as a bad guy, great, great movie. I saw him with Gwyeneth in Seven didnt care for it. I never like Gwennie much. Maybe I should watch that movie agian. When he hooked up with Jen I thought it was odd but ok, but she does seem like she trys to hard - and any woman that would not pop a baby out for Brad is one dumb ,dumb, ummm dummy. Jen just didn’t want Brad to shine more than her, she was selfish. I do still like Jen and I do think shes cute but as I said not to smart (DUMB). I guess I noticed Angelina in Girl interuppted and noticed her unusual beauty and great acting. I still need to see Gia, sounds good. Her and Billy seemed odd to me but she was just so much more caring and intelligent than him. SO now that Brad is with Angie and finally has the children he has always wanted, I am so happy for him and Angie. I also know that Angelina is the most beautiful and intellgent woman he has had, she is also a good mother and gr8 partner. I feel happy for Mad, Pax,Z AND SHILOH that they all have a Mom and Dad that love them more than anyhting in this world, just like we all love our kids. International assistance programs often struggle to provide education services because education is not considered a life-saving activity, and smaller governments are unable to solicit, receive and distribute educational assistance. This panel, moderated by New York Times columnist Nicholas Kristof, will discuss the challenges of providing education in conflict and post-conflict areas, and how one can effectively deliver education to those who need it the most. If you noticed, Angelina will be a panelist in the plenary session, which means she will be speaking for the main group session and not just a sub-session, or working session. Thats really remarkable, considering that only the VVIPs the likes of presidents, prime ministers, CEOs or Mds, or experts on certain fields are made to speak in the main plenary sessions.

He is the only academic to have been repeatedly ranked among the world’s most influential people by Time magazine. He has been appointed the 2007 lecturer for the BBC Reith Lectures.
Although Sachs is a hero to many, some economists view his proposals as dangerously naive. One of his strongest critics is New York University (NYU) Professor of Economics William Easterly who reproached The End of Poverty in his review for The Washington Post. Easterly’s 2006 book, White Man’s Burden, is a more thorough rebuttal of Sachs’s argument that poor countries are stuck in a “poverty trap” from which there is no escape, except by massively scaled-up foreign aid. Easterly presents statistical evidence that he says proves that many newly developed countries — indeed, most of them — attained their higher status without large amounts of foreign aid as Sachs proposes. Easterly states that “So yes, do read Sachs’s eloquent descriptions of poverty and his compelling ethical case for the rich to help the poor. Just say no to the Big Plan.”
Daniel Ben-Ami, writing on the British Internet magazine Spiked, has criticized Sachs from an opposite perspective to Easterly. Ben-Ami argued in a review of The End of Poverty that Sachs’ views represent an acceptance that underdevelopment is here to stay. He argues that despite Sachs’ “grandiose rhetoric” his goal is the long-term eradication of extreme poverty rather than the economic development and transformation of poorer societies. Ben-Ami also argued that the Sachs 2007 BBC Reith lecture embodied low horizons for the poor.
Another person to criticize Sachs is Amir Attaran, who is a scientist and lawyer and currently the Canada Research Chair in Law, Population Health and Global Development at the University of Ottawa. Sachs and Attaran have worked closely as colleagues, including to coauthor a famous study in The Lancet documenting the dearth of foreign aid money to fight HIV/AIDS in the 1990s, which led to the creation of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Actually Girl, Interrupted wasn’t that great a movie but Jolie was the best thing in it. As the Academy and the Golden Globe and her fellow actors in the

George Wallace - Excellent. She won her first SAG (awarded by her acting peers) and first Golden Globe.
Gia - Excellent. Again She won awards.
Pushing Tin - Very good movie. She became good friends with Cate Blanchett during this production.
A Mighty Heart - Excellent movie and she was wonderful
The Good Shepherd - a very good movie with almost all reviews praising her performance.
I also enjoyed Mr and Mrs Smith, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (I thought everyone in it was perfect for their role - Jude and Gwyneth included), Tomb Raider: Cradle of Life. Jolie was also very good in the movie she starred opposite Ryan Phillippe - something like A Matter of the Heart.
Fact is she is an Oscar winner and a multiple times awarded actor. Her practically universal raves for her performance in A Mighty Heart are a testament that she still has it in spades. Those few reviews that had a problem with her in the movie mostly spoke of the reviewer’s difficulty in separating Jolie from her public persona but then that’s their problem.

We tried to catch up an early showing same day, Friday, but to no avail all sold out. So we end up staying overnight, Saturday, but still we didt’nt get the first showtime we have to wait for the second one.
I did not regret one bit all our moves just to see this movie. After the show, audience applaused. I heard some comments about Brad and Casey’s performances, so far they’re all positive. They’re raving so much about the cinematography of this movie and I agree it was “FANTASTIC”.
One note, I like also the concept of this theatre that we went to, you got reserved seating.

I have the answer to why Angie gets the acting jobs. She has a great screen presence like no one does. This is a woman that wanted to walk out of HW so many times and has been begged to stay on. WEll here we are with Brad’s new movie. How did it do. According to you guys (I don’t even have to read your commemnts to know!) It did so well!
Not so. Remember Babel it made 55,000 per screen with it came out about a year ago.
Remember Friends with Money (a total flop according to you guys) it made 21,000 on 28 screens. (I am sure you know the more screens the less money per screen).
So Jess James made what about 28,000 if it was playing in 5 theatres. (It seems there is a bit of confusion here if it was 15 then it did much worse). And Into the Wild made over 50,000 on 4 sreens! WOW that was amazing! And they didn’t even have like a hundred premieres and a celerity couple who touches each others bums!
So according to you guys if Friends with Money flopped on its opening then Jesse James must have to.
Really sad for you! Be honest this was a reall poor opening and not what they would have hoped for. And if they only hoped for this then they realize how low Brad has gotten with regards to his career!
And while you are so awed with Clinton remember cheaters stick together. Wasn’t that the US president who did it with the woman in the white house when he was married! His movies are way more important than his family. If his family were more important he would take less movies and make a “real” home not a hotel room for his children! TAOJJ has been shown in 5 theaters only and it already made more than 33% PTA than FWM, and it just started. So no one can say that it flops or its going to flop, but as per industry’s experts (and its definitely not you)like Variety or BOFO, its doing well. Just like AMH, it hasnt flop yet coz its still showing in the foreign markets and will still open in 15-20 markets soon. Even ParVantage President said the jury is still out on AMH.

This isn’t really a review; consider it a breathless, extemporaneous appreciation. I saw The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford a few hours ago and it doesn’t feel like something to sit down and matter-of-factly dissect. God, it’s a majestic accomplishment. Hard to remember the last time a film had me so deeply in its reality. Park Chan-wook’s Oldboy did it; so did Paul Thomas Anderson’s Magnolia and, to a lesser extent, Darren Aronofsky’s Requiem for a Dream and Alfonso Cuaron’s Children of Men. (All great films, all very different from Assassination; I’m only comparing the effect.) I saw each of those three or four times in the theater and the same will probably end up being true of Andrew Dominik’s film.
I experienced Assassination in my skin and my blood and my bones. It’s such a powerful piece of art… spooky, absolutely beautiful, and so richly put together. From the trailer and early reviews I expected a tone poem, something lovely to look at but not necessarily affecting in any profound sense–like Terrence Malick’s The New World, with its mumbling and utterly inscrutable characters framed by gorgeous forest–so what initially startled me was the genuine humor and deftness of Dominik’s script (and of Ron Hansen’s dialogue–Hansen wrote the novel). Every character is achingly human and distinguished with care, given dignity and pettiness and strange quirks and spotlit moments.
There are so many perfect things in this film, large and small: The train robbery at the beginning… the sight of Jesse James toying with serpents in his back yard… the glimpse of fish beneath the ice… **** Liddell seducing his friend’s stepmother… the horrific forced laughter after Jesse pretends he’s going to slit Bob Ford’s throat… the moment of Jesse’s murder, which is just as much a suicide…
And everyone involved has done an astonishing job. No slack. Every actor (including Sam Shepherd as Frank James, Paul Schneider as **** Liddell, Sam Rockwell as Charley Ford, and Ted Levine–Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs, amusingly enough–as a lawman) has got it exactly. Even James Carville. Dominik must be a directing genius to have gotten performances this uniformly excellent out of his cast. And Roger Deakins’ cinematography is otherworldly; I’ve never seen another movie that looked like this. And Warren Ellis and Nick Cave’s score got into me like heroin. And–
Enough, I’ll stop already. Suffice to say I loved this movie more than any I’ve seen in a very long time. Will you? Maybe. Maybe not. It doesn’t seem to have been universally appreciated. But there have certainly been others–this guy, for example–who felt as strongly as I did. Devin Faraci, maybe the best movie critic on the internet, apparently also loved it so much he’s having trouble writing a “review”. So did one or two others. Like Magnolia and Oldboy and 2001 and Days of Heaven–it’s an idiosyncratic taste. It meanders (perfectly, mesmerizingly) and digresses and draws moments out, and some people will just be bored (fair enough) and others will call it pretentious (many of these people will be ignorant) and that’s that. So it’s definitely not a movie I’ll be recommending to every person I know. Only to select ones.
On the other hand, it appears I won’t be able to stop myself from telling everyone about it.

I want to add that Jen did not even want to adopt. In December 2005, while promoting derailed, Jen said she hoped she will be on her way to start a family (side note: lying again). Diane Sawyer then asked if she would consider adoption, Jen said NO.

Have you heard of the word INVENTORY. A successful actor/actress has many projects in his/her inventory. Brad has several movie offers but that doesnt mean he’s doing them all at once.

You don’t seem to undestand the adoption process and policies. Pax was the one kid at the time who met all criteria:
- no parent. Most of the kids in that Orphanage live there but their relatives came over to visit. These kids WERE NOT TO BE ADOPTED!!!!
- healthy. Some of the kids there who met the above requirement were sick. When Pax was born, he had liver problems but other than that he met the health requirement.
- Zahara was malnourished and ready to die when Brad and Angelina adopted her.
These are no problem-free kids when they were adopted. They had their own issues.
…so why not call it a day and publically state you hate them for no reason. Because your reasons don’t add up or make sense. As a matter of fact, they are contrary to the truth which is out there…but only if you do the research.

And for the last time, Vietnam doesn’t allow unmarried couples to adopt; Angelina adopted Pax; after a few months, Brad petitioned to adopt Pax, since the US doesn’t prohibit a single man from adopting the child of his girlfriend.

Angelina Jolie and UNHCR promote education at Clinton Global Initiative
UN High Commissioner for Refugee António Guterres and UNHCR’s Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie will join former US president Bill Clinton at the September 26-28 meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, issuing a call to raise $220 million for refugee education. The CGI aims to inspire commitments of help from its members.
The UNHCR programme is aimed at providing Education (Plus) – education beyond the existing schooling now offered by UNHCR – to nine million refugee children by 2010. Education (Plus) will provide resources to develop a child’s full potential, with an emphasis on girls’ participation and additional activities like life-skills training, sport programs, disease prevention and access to technology.
Started in 2006, ninemillion has so far raised over US$ 2 million. These funds are already allocated to education and sport programmes in Thailand, Azerbaijan and Uganda. New projects are on the way.
The efforts of ninemillion are shifting towards improving education in three conflict zones around the world – Colombia, Iraq’s neighbours and Sudan’s Darfur region with its spillover into Chad. The potential benefits can be seen in places where extra UNHCR education assistance has already been provided.
These serious issues of education will be discussed when Guterres and Jolie attend the deliberations of the CGI in New York, hoping to draw commitments of assistance from the influential participants.

Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie accepts Global Humanitarian Award
NEW YORK, Oct 13, (UNHCR) – UN refugee agency Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie has been honored with the 2005 Global Humanitarian Action Award for her work with UNHCR and with refugees.
Ms. Jolie accepted the award from the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) and the Business Council for the United Nations at a dinner in New York attended by 700 diplomats, political and business leaders and other dignitaries on Tuesday evening.
Ms. Jolie, who has travelled extensively to more than 20 countries including Pakistan, Kosovo, Sudan and Chad to talk personally to refugees, said they deserved “every bit of our efforts.”
“They have seen so much, they’ve felt so much pain – lost more than anyone could bear and yet they contain joy of life and appreciation for small things we often forget,” she said.
The UNA-USA applauded Ms. Jolie for fulfilling her work as a Goodwill Ambassador with vigour and valuable insight, adding that she served as a leading voice for millions of refugees and internally displaced persons around the world. In addition to her fieldwork, Ms. Jolie has become a highly regarded activist for refugee rights, arguing for their protection before senior political and economic leaders of the world.
The President of UNA-USA William Luers described her as standing apart from other celebrities involved in humanitarian work. “She has gone to the refugee camps. She has sat with heads of state. She has personally and publicly engaged in ways to better manage the problems surrounding this noble cause,” he said.
The Academy Award-winning actress, who has worked with UNHCR as a Goodwill Ambassador since 2001, used her acceptance speech to draw attention to the plight of refugees and the work of the UN refugee agency. She said that apart from her children, spending time with refugees was “the greatest gift – the greatest life lesson I could ever receive.”
She also paid special tribute to all those working with refugees. “In any UNHCR office, in any one of the many areas around the world, you will find an amazing mix of hard-working and often very tired people. What is beautiful to me is that the men and women are always a mix of nationalities who have come together with the common goal – to help others. That is the UN at its best.”
In his congratulatory message, the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, António Guterres, pointed out that Ms Jolie had given an entirely new meaning to the words “global humanitarian action.”
“The depth of your dedication and commitment inspires many others, especially the legions of young people who admire you, to think about how they too can help to make the world a better place,” he added.
Other tributes were sent from the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and America’s First Lady, Laura Bush.

Angelina Jolie receives UN correspondents award
NEW YORK, October 23 (UNHCR) – UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie received on Wednesday the Sergio Vieira de Mello Citizen of the World Award handed out for the first time by the UN Correspondents Association (UNCA).
Ms. Jolie was cited for her outstanding work with refugees. The award honours Vieira de Mello, the UN Secretary General’s Special Representative in Iraq who was killed on August 19 in an attack on the UN headquarters in Baghdad that left 22 others dead.
During the annual UNCA event citing journalists for their outstanding coverage of UN affairs, High Commissioner Ruud Lubbers announced that Ms. Jolie has extended her work with the UN refugee agency for another two years.
Expressing gratitude for her work, Lubbers said: “She has helped put the spotlight on a disenfranchised group – refugees – and also those who are not in the headlines and who are victims of long forgotten crises. She gives a voice to millions of uprooted people across the globe.”
Ms. Jolie said she was “inspired and humbled” to work with refugees, adding that receiving the Vieira de Mello award was exceptionally meaningful.
She also signed a bottle of champagne auctioned off later in the evening. A note on the item said that proceeds will enable Liberian refugees to get clean water, food and shelter. “Liberia does not seem to be attracting billions in reconstruction funds, so every little bit helps,” the note said.

The adoption agency that Angelina worked through notified her that a child had been identified as adoptable after Angelina met all the requirements, and that process began in summer 2006. No one is allowed to choose a child, a file with a child’s info is provided and the prospective parent can say yes or no. Pax was the only child adoptable provided to Angelina from Vietnam through that agency and Angelina immediately said yes. I believe all Angelina asked for was a boy, 3-4 years old from Vietnam, as she (and Brad) wanted an older child. That’s it. Angelina is unmarried, she did not lie.
When Z was adopted Angelina and Brad were provided two files, they decided to adopt only one as they were not sure that they could manage two at a time. Z was very sick, they were told she might be HIV+, they took her anyway, said it made no difference to them, they would deal with her HIV status if needed. Z was hospitalized once she reached the US and it was then she was tested for HIV and found to be negative. Brad was part of the Z’s adoption process it was later acknowledged, and he has been Z’s dad just as he has been Pax’s dad from Day 1, but he did not officially adopt Z until he adopted both Maddox and Z last year, and has adopted Pax this year as allowed by Cali law.
All these lies about Angelina’s adoptions are just that, lies.

AOJJ sounds like a compelling movie,one that relies on acting skills rather than action.
In order to get into the role I suspect Brad had to(mentally) go into a very lonely and dark place. It must have been immensely. comforting for Brad to have Angelina and the kids around,plus the knowledge that his first biological child was on the way.

The outlaw’s cult begins to waver between utter loyalty and conspiratorial dismay, leading to the inevitable showdown, which, in defiance of Hollywood convention, occurs at the pace of dripping honey. Visually, there is little in this film that is not a carefully calculated variant of brown, black, or gray. Nearly everything is shot in seductive darkness. Even when blood is spilled (the violence, when it comes, is piercing, loud, and ungraceful), it is realistic crimson, not Tarantino red.
Pitt is at home in James’s skin, at once playful, enticing, and terrifying. Sam Rockwell, and the other actors playing his sidekicks, are convincingly indigent, rough, and desperate; as usual, Parker (as James’s wife) does more with a single glance than her fellow cast members do with a page of dialogue. If there’s a weak link, it’s Affleck, who shares with his character the unfortunate trait of being nearly impossible to take seriously.
The 160 minutes don’t exactly fly by, but one’s patience is rewarded. Dominik’s artful construction reveals as much about mythmaking as it does about its hero, producing a majestic yet insightful take on the American West, and the outlaws who made it wild.
