They need to realize that they should extend the same curtesy on this board to other posters. Many fans have opinions and they are not always flattering to the Jolie Pitts. Sometimes it is necessary to make an observation like for instance Angie’s severe weight loss - the sad thing is words were flying and accusations of troll, tell Jared, hater etc were thown out as if Angie hadn’t lost weight or someone said she was something vile. Now those same people are commenting on how good she is looking with a little weight gain - this is crazy stuff. People come on her specifically to get a few people riled up - and it works every time. Mark my words - the once mega photo site of brad and angie on JJB is going the same way because too many people are bringing in personal chat, Aniston is now mentioned on every page by Jolie fans ( trolls don’t even have to go there) and it has turned into another little clique thread.. I have been posting and lurking on Just jared for over 2 years and it is a lie to say it was ever a really nice board without too many haters an trolls - it has been the same all along - loads of crazies from both sides. Nothing has really changed - just the names. My opinon: “But I honestly think I am free to state how I feel without someone telling me how I should feel. Peace.”

You can twist words around. Zahara was not HIV + and I am sure that an orphanage has to test babies so that they know how to treat them.

Do hospitals test newborn babies or infants (if it is appropriate to test later) for HIV?

Answer

The short answer is that it depends. In the United States, whether a hospital routinely tests all newborn babies depends upon state policies. Currently only two states, New York and Connecticut, require HIV tests for infants whose mothers were not tested during pregnancy. Illinois is considering similar legislation.

The question of whether to test all newborn babies raises an interesting ethical question because if a newborn baby tests positive it means that his or her mother is also positive. While most states strongly encourage pregnant women to be tested for HIV so that they can receive interventions to prevent transmission to the baby, health care workers cannot force women to be tested. Current national guidelines say that women must be given the chance to say no to (opt-out of) testing. If a woman’s baby is tested and found to be infected, the health care facility is, in effect, forcing her to know her HIV status against her will.

Also, standard HIV tests detect antibodies to HIV (not the virus itself). All infants born to HIV-infected women have HIV antibodies from the mother even though they themselves may not be HIV-infected. These maternal antibodies fade after 15-18 months. Therefore, if infant testing is to be accurate, it must either use more expensive complex tests that detect the virus directly (instead of antibodies) or antibody tests must be conducted 15 to 18 months after birth once the baby has cleared maternal antibodies from his or her system.

It is highly unlikely the orphanage in Ethiopia tested Z for HIV or if it did, tested her for the more AIDS virus directly. They couldn’t even test Z for rickets and salmonella, 2 veryt very common diseases in 3rd world countries caused by poor hygiene standards or nutrition. Even if the orphanage had tested Z for the HIV antibodies, (which is the usual test) Z, at 6 months would have turned up positive. Z was an aids orphan. Her mother had AIDS so Z would have the HIV antibodies from her biological mother, regardless of whether Z herself was actually, infected.

Angelina and Brad adopted Z even though they really didn’t know if she had the AIDS virus or not. There was a real possibility she did.

If people want to criticise this, well, what else is new. However, don’t spread disinformaation without doing your research. You just need to google hiv, infants testing and there are many articles about this topic.

Exactly, since both her birth parents died of the disease. I admire and respect Angelina and Brad all the more since they committed themselves to adopting her whatever her HIV status turned out to be. Thank God she turned out to be negative and is growing up to be a happy and healthy little girl. If Brad and Angie hadn’t adopted her, she probably would not have made it to her first birthday.

These trolls that have been on this site for the last few days should be totally ignored . Some if not all of them are ignorant liars and a pain in the a$$. Although I have to admit on some posts the ignorance is so bad that I had to laugh so hard at the posters . But because it was the same 2-3 people who stunk up the board I got over my amusement because I could only find humor in stupidity but for so long and then I simply can’t stand the level of ignorance anymore . Since it is a public forum our best and maybe only option is to not respond to them at all . They want a response and when we don’t respond , they will get tired and move on . How much fun is there in playing by or with yourself?

First few pages - give me a break - who wants to waste time going back and reading a bunch of adolescents saying things like me first me 4th - wow I’m on the first page - how silly. I’m sure Aniston is mentioned somewhere there - but if you re read my original post I was talking about JJB being trashed by Just Jared posters who say they are Jolie Pitt fans but can’t stop talking about Aniston. JJB has a thread for Aniston - but people from this site insist on discussing her without end on the Jolie Pitt thread which is exactly what happens here.
