Emmy Rossum - “Slow Me Down” Music Video
The Emmy Rossum “Slow Me Down” Music Video was just released! It’s the first single off Emmy’s upcoming ambient pop album, out Oct. 23.
Emmy talked a little about the video at the Teen Choice Awards last month: “We were shooting a different speeds because the song’s about the pace of life and to create the blur of the world and how overwhelming that can be.”

I got an expectation of plot in the video when she was running. I wish we actually got a plot.
sorry amy the voice cloning is the song itself, her whole album is kind of enya-esque overlapping voices like that…
parts of it were good and parts of it screamed film school project: flapping her arms wildly in the water? didn’t even fit the rhythm of the song…looking at her watch…pointing to the traffic behind her like we can’t see its there? i dunno…but the bed scene? two thumbs up

Like others have already mentioned here, I also got a very Enya-esque vibe from this song. It’s quite beautiful in itself, but it doesn’t do justice to Emmy’s voice, and in the end the song is regrettably unoriginal (particularly the irritatingly repetitive chorus). The music video is more difficult to describe - at times it is absolutely beautiful (e.g. with Emmy running or her standing on the street with cars rushing in the background), while at other times it is downright astonishingly unimpressive. Hmm. I’m not quite sure what to think of this new single of hers.

Wow! I absolutely LOVE this song! It’s so beautiful and touching. And Emmy looks as gorgeous as ever. I loved her in “Phantom Of The Opera” and had no idea she was releasing a single, yet an album!! Thanks for putting this up or i’d have missed it totally. I love EMMY, keep on rocking girl :D

I like those kinda songs, but this one is not that good. Sounds like a mix between new age (like Enya) and ambient and really similar to Imogen Heap, but the cloning of her voice is not good done. It starts off with great promise but nothing materialises in the end. She really does have a good voice and didn’t need to add the Kylie, Britney and Madonna voice enhancing stuff. I think that she is really beautiful and has made an interesting choice for her first single. I think we can expect good stuff from her in the future.
Uh sorry but Imogen Heap does this ish far better. Emmy seems forced and her lyrics are immature, they aren’t very clever or even so well used that it doesn’t matter how simple they are. Its just blah. But she’s prettier and younger than Imogen so people are most likely going to swallow this.
Also if she wants to be ’slowed down’ there are pills for that….

I honestly really like it - I expected to hate it, but surprisingly, it’s pretty cool, I’ll even watch it again!
I like the song but what’s with her smiling in the video…it didn’t fit…while singing about somebody save me and slow me down she’s rolling on the bed smiling coyly and playing with her hair…it’s like you can hear the director telling her, “ok now smile - good, good, - now play with your hair…don’t worry if it doesn’t fit the song it will look good and we can sell it to Noxezema if they video doesn’t take off…” very weird video - as some else work it looks like an film school project!

The music is Enyanesque and Heap but has a bit of pop. Any way, why are female singers love to look sexual with their hands always caressing their hair and their face. It is so unnatural and fake. Very distracting.
The music is not even about sex but about life.
The concept of the video is very good, the music is good, the voice is good, Emmy has such a nice voice but her presence is distracting.

she is beautiful. and dresses are awesome! but the song is extremely awkward with the video. and the sound is a mix between enya and imogen as others have noted. i really like her. but in the meantime, she just needs to find herself and stop getting packaged and produced.

OH MY GOD!!!!! Man I knew she could sing because I’m a huge fan of the Phantom, but this is the most awesome and perfect choice I’ve ever seen for an actress to become a singer. This style fits her perfectly, it’s amazingly insane!!! It’s not like that f**ing sh*t everyone’s been doing just to get some extra money lipsinging. A+ 4 her. Excellent

While I do feel the style is a total Imogen Heap ripoff, and while I’m not a huge fan of the song itself… I disagree with some comments on the lyrics. They actually sum up my life right now and I find them to be simplistic and relateable. Too many try for very “deep” and “artistic” and end up with utterly pretentious fluff.

I mean.. it’s different and i like it.. i love Enya, Imogen Heap and all such things BECAUSE IT’S FREAKING DIFFERENT!! and not a poorly written pop song about ‘how much it hurts to be in love’ or ‘that all the boys want you’..
come on, this is different maybe not that original because people seem to think Emmy slept in the backyard of Imogen Heap trying to catch a glimp of them just so she could copy the music and pretend it’s her own.. Why always go with the ‘normal’ music with bad lyrics (and with bad i mean something like this: “oh, boy i miss you so much, please come back” or “Center of attention”(BIG EGO) or “If you’re on a mission, you got my permission” (how poorly writing is that?! it’s just sad))..
Maybe it isn’t the right music for everyone, but because YOU dislike it doesn’t mean it ugly!! it’s beautiful music, but not meant for everyone.. (and some people f*ucked-up their ears a long time ago..)
At least Emmy can sing!!

Truthfully, I’m not a big fan of Emmy Rossum, but this song is actually pretty good. It IS a lot like Imogen Heap, maybe too similar to it, but it still has a uniqueness to it. As for the video, some scenes were absolutely wonderful, but I had to stop it when she started doing the chicken dance in the water. That just came out of nowhere. @_@
I dont know. Its like a car crash in slow motion. Something really ugly but you cant look away; like a zit on your forehead! The worst thing about the song is that it gets in your head and it wont go away. The lyrics are so childish and outdated and dont start me on that video. The whole floating and drowning in water and then her face at the end. its like the face of a child who just discovered the truth about Santa. And then there is the running. What are you running away from exactly emmy? the fact that this whole thing stinks like a fish factory. Also the whole rolling in sheet business is not sexy its just a waste of linen and so 90’s! I’ll finish this little rant by just saying that i did really like Emmy. I think she has some talent and i just love her in the Phantom of the Opera. Also i do love the curl in her hair. But this … this music career is disappointing. Masking your voice with a synth machine isnt cool it just looks like your hiding something and also that you want to put enya and imogen heap out of a job. But i also think her producers are to blame - one of whom is Moby. Moby! Dont even start me on that fruitcake! So like i was saying i liked Emmy, but now im just disenchanted. Go back to the opera.

Considering how much talent it takes to sing “every single one of the 150 parts and harmonies of “Slow Me Down”, including some of the percussion!”, I’d say it sounds pretty fantastic. I do agree that the video could have been shot better, but this is her first track…we’ll have to wait and see what’s next….

Emmy is pretty…a cross between Keira Knightley and Kelly Clarkson appearance-wise, and her voice is awesome, but like some people have already mentioned, the video rather sucked, and the synthesizing of the various voice layers sort of put the song into a technological overkill.
That’s not to say it was a bad song, but in its production there were a few bad decisions made.
The lyrics are very well composed, the melody is beautiful and unique, and the harmonies added complexity to a rather simple song. I have no doubt it was very fun for her to record!
Lullabye is a much better-composed song of hers.
October 23, 2007 is her album release date!!!
I’m sorry…I just listened to Imogen Heap’s latest album and it sounds absolutely NOTHING like this…For one, Emmy used absolutely no instruments in this song: it is simply her voice synthesized and layered. Imogen’s sound is much different. Emmy leans toward a new age classical whereas Imogen is more of an alternative pop/punk sound. Sure, she has her voice synthesized and layered in a few songs, but it’s not like it’s a copywrite violation to use that method. Are you going to sue artists for both playing the guitar, too? Or for using the same loop?
Why people insist on comparing an artists style with another before considering each individually isn’t fair. Emmy’s sound also reflects a lot of Enya-like influence. So what? She took what she liked and flew away with it to make it her own.
Kudos to Emmy. Keep it up. I just reserved her album.

Okay, everyone who said she sounds like something else…who the f*** cares! Everybody sounds like someone else..quit being a bunch of elitists and enjoy the music for what it is..Her voice. It doesn’t matter if she’s beautiful or not, her voice is beautiful, appreciate the gift. I LOVE THIS SONG. It describes me and my life so much!! And I’m sure it describes A LOT of other peoples lives too. As to those who think the tune is too much of a repeat…MOST songs in the world now-a-days sound like they all have the exact same tune. Trust me. If you take the time to listen, you’ll definitely hear it. Even when I try to make up songs, it is so hard to try and come up with a new tune. In the end, I just give up.
Hey give Emmy a break guys. Shes just starting out and I thinks shes done really good. She was AMAZING in The Phantom of the Opera, but maybe this is the style she likes. The music video was extremely eye appealing, but it didnt give the song a whole lot of meaning. Her voice has acctually taught me how to sing and always inspires me. Good job Emmy, and I hope you keep making albums, making them better and better as you go because there are so many out there that want to hear more.

Emmy is trying to express the busy-ness of life has moving at a pace that is too fast to pay attention to love. She is calling out to that special one and asking him to slow her down and help her not to let love pass her by. She is not interested in the fly by night romance. She wants monogomy centered on real love.
