Brad Pitt speaks before a panel discussion on energy and climate change during the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting Wednesday in New York City. The conference is focused on finding ways to solve some of the world’s most pressing problems including poverty and climate change.
According to People, Brad is partnering with billionaire Steve Bing on the “Make it Right” program, which plans to build 150 affordable – and environmentally sustainable – homes in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward. Brad and Bing have each promised to match donations pledged during the initiative up to $5 million.
FYI: It costs $15,000 per person to take part in the panel discussions and smaller working sessions at the CGI. $15K!!!!! I hope it all goes to charity…

Ted Turner’s United Nations Foundation delivers $1 billion to UN causes
Foundation makes new commitment to leverage another $1 billion
WASHINGTON, DC (October 10, 2006) — UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan announced tonight that the United Nations Foundation has delivered $1 billion of new and additional resources to the United Nations and UN causes. The milestone was marked at the annual United Nations Association-USA dinner – the same occasion at which, nine years ago, Ted Turner made his unprecedented pledge to donate $1 billion to UN causes and to raise additional funds through partnership efforts. The Foundation also announced that it intends to use the remaining $400 million of Turner’s gift to leverage another $1 billion in support of UN causes over the coming years.
In prepared remarks, Annan said: “Ted’s gift was a tremendous financial boost for our organization. More than that, it has helped the UN to change - to become a partnership organization, something that has been a top priority of mine. … But Ted’s act was perhaps most important for the message it sent to his fellow Americans, his fellow businessmen and women, and to the world. Here was an iconic businessman standing up for the United Nations, and saying to the world that the UN and its work were worthy of support.”
Turner, chairman of the UN Foundation’s Board of Directors, said: “As we are seeing all across the globe, the UN works – for the world’s poor, for peace, for progress and for human rights and justice. That’s why I’ve always believed in the UN. That’s why I’ve always supported the UN. And that’s why I set up the UN Foundation

Jess0 - you are so right - they do what they can but have to get around somehow right? I believe the good they are doing far outweighs their carbon footprint. There are means to compensate.
One of the things that I really admire about Brad and Angie is that they are balancing their desire to have a large family with the impact on environment. They could just pop out a bunch of kids and never think twice about adopting impoverished, malnourished children - and nobody would blink an eye. But instead they adopt children and this decreases the impact of overpopulation that the world is facing today. If you add up how much energy, resources, and waste a single human being in North America uses up and puts out over a life time it is substantial. So instead they adopt children and are criticized for it.

Angelina really have expand Brad’s horizon’s!! Angelina has been a good influence on Brad!! And this is one of the many reasons; Haters hate Angelina so much; because with Maniston Brad was soo Shallow, but since Brad has been with Angie… he is in another level!! I agree with you about Angie`s influence on brad.and we should also remember brad knows this and even accept this fact that AFTER MEETING ANGIE HE BECOMES NEW MAN.so he accepts this fact and I`m sure he appreciates it very much.
but Brad also has influence in Angie`s private life,she is more setteled down right now and you know influence is not just changing,It can be emotional influence,she is far from that girl who had sex with his hubby in public or she now after losing her mother needs someone who she can trust and can talk and can lean on him,brad has this kind of influence on Angie`s life.
I am Angie`s fan for many years and become his fan after they come together,but as long time fan of Angie I can tell I can see many changes in Angie`s personal life.her personality changes after Brad.

I thought so too,, the comparison btwn Brad and Angelina’s influence on each other is sooo tabliodish to me for lack of a better term. Hello BAMPZS Fans!!! I a going to watch all the sessions. Just wanted to say hello. And yse I watched our Bradley live. He did an excellent job, he was a little nervous, JHMO, in the beginning then he was excellent, relaxed and was even funny… BBL, and we can compare notes.
I am sooooo proud of both of them. It’s great to be JP FAN :-)

I do agree in some sense.
Brad was there for her in her everyday life and share moments and lessen her pain. And also Brad is a dad to children.
However, her life was pretty stable after she separated from BBT (she was actually changing and became more stable person after she adopted Mad and involved in her UN work).
You should compare her after BBT days and now. I think her life after BBT (late 2002 to 2004) was more stable than now.
Well I think it is good for Angie to have Brad to do things together and to share. But since we are talking about influence, I do not think much of Brad’ influence. He is a good person and funy person, but did not really helped Angie’ image. However, Angie changed Brad’ image - you can say she bulit it and changed people’ perception on Brad by praising him all the time.
I think Brad is pretty smart guy and a real Zen master but his god personality/side was exposed by Angie and even not by himself.
