Angelina Jolie Crying @ Clinton Global Intiiative

Angelina Jolie Crying @ Clinton Global Intiiative

Angelina Jolie is wonderful in white as she waves to photographers before leaving a midtown New York City office building Thursday afternoon.

Just yesterday, she spoke at a forum during the Clinton Global Intiative and shared a very moving story, which brought her to tears while telling it

As told by The Huffington Post, “Angelina Jolie [told] one of the most moving stories I think I’ve ever heard about two refugees that she met in Syria. One had been brutally burned and dumped in a trash can and the other was a ten year old boy, and how the two of these people somehow helped each other over a period of months. She was convinced that this little boy, who had spent so much time taking care of this horribly burnt man, who literally had maggots in his wounds, would someday be a doctor and that these people we call refugees are all people that are regular, hard-working people that have been stripped of everything.”

Watch the video below of Angelina sharing her story! (Sorry the audio is a little off!)

Can someone explain her rings? Very unusual and quite beautiful.

=======================================================

This isn’t the first time Angie has worn a ring like this. Go and look at the Taking Lives Premiere and you will see a ring similar to or if not the same.

With all due respect, anyone claiming she does this for her own publicity, has got to be out of their mind and in dire need of medical assistance.
She needs people to see her cry? Yes. That’s what she needs. She needs people to believe she’s amazing. She has four kids and a man who loves her. Yes, she most definitely needs other’s opinions.
You have got to be insane or lacking the love that she has and are purely jealous. :D

Just wanted to pass on this message to anyone not subscribed to the savedarfur.org newsletter. Please go to their website to get the link to donate:

The tremendous response to our matching gift fund has filled me with hope - not an easy feat in the face of the atrocities we’re working to end every day.

But we’re only $175,875 away from reaching our $450,000 goal by September 30th. Will you help us take full advantage of this extraordinary opportunity to ramp up our efforts?

There are only three days left to see your dollars doubled to help bring peace to Darfur.

Give now to make your tax-deductible donation go twice as far for the people of Darfur.

I know how easy it is to feel helpless. Here we are, a world away. Years have passed since the world community began pushing to end the horror - and yet it continues.

The people of Darfur continue to face horrors most of us can scarcely imagine. More than 2 million people have been driven from their homes and into danger. The threat of rape, torture, murder, and malnutrition pursue the people of Darfur wherever they flee.

That is why it is so crucial that we take advantage of opportunities like this matching gift fund to redouble our activism, our commitment, and our impact.

By helping us reach our $450,000 goal, you make sure we have the resources to:

Demand action from the United Nations. We’re partnering with organizations around the world to make sure that the U.N. immediately deploys the recently authorized U.N.-A.U. peacekeeping force for Darfur.
Pressure President Bush to uphold U.S. commitments to Darfur. We’re working to ensure that the U.S. plays its part in providing the peacekeeping force with the financial and logistical help it needs to succeed.
Shine a spotlight on China. We’re collaborating with Olympic Dream for Darfur to force China, Sudan’s largest foreign investor - and the host of the 2008 Olympics - to recognize its moral obligation to stand up for the people of Darfur.
Urge investment firms to divest from companies that help fund the genocide. We’re expanding our campaign to get Fidelity Investments and other mutual fund companies to fully divest. We need your help to turn up the heat on these investment firms and on Congress.
Together, our efforts are giving the people of Darfur a voice. Right now, you can help make that voice twice as strong.

Please don’t let this opportunity pass. Make a donation today - before the matching gift offer runs out on September 30th.

Thank you again for your commitment to stopping the violence.

Best regards,

Colleen Connors

I used to not like Angelina, but she has changed so much. Now I love her for her humanitarian work and can see the beauty everyone else sees in her.

P.S Brad is a very lucky man.

Bestow My Wealth upon My poor, that in heaven thou mayest draw from stores of unfading splendor and treasures of imperishable glory….”

love this woman, she has really influence me in giving more and help the less fortunate.may God continue to bless her and her family

COALHARBOURQT @ 09/27/2007 at 2:33 pm

Those are not crocodile tears - anyone who thinks that you can see what she has seen and NOT cry doesn’t know that of which they speak. They should go see some time - they will cry real tears too.

got to go,i hope we try and keep the thread free from hate mongers,

just saying @ 09/27/2007 at 2:33 pm

It has taken me a while to warm up to Angelina, but now I think she is quite extraordinary. I could see how Brad fell in love with her.

54 cause-effect : 09/27/2007 at 2:09 pm

Actually, she is not changing the world. You help one person, a hundred take their place. You need to deal with the cause and not just the effect. I never hear her give any ideas on how we as a citizen of the world can stop the blood shed that is causing the refuge problem in the first place.

Peace keepers from the UN just get laughed at and Taliban wants to keep the fight going in places like Iraq and Sudan
=================================================

No one has the power to change the world. There are many factors in play. Even Bush who started the almighty war is a puppet.

You want Angie to really deal with the causes? she will be assassinated in no time.

Even the whole UN doesn’t have the power. In fact, UN is sort of like a wimp.

You are too demanding of Angie. she is not God. (well, even God seems doesn’t have the power to deal with the causes)

you can only do your part to influence the world for the better. you can’t have a head-on confrontation with evil doers.

#54- I understand what you are saying - but this particular event was focused on education.

If you really think about it - Education in these countries will change the world over time. It will give people who have no understanding of how to change their own countries and lives the educations to learn a skill/profession. This will eventually (yes - it will take a long time) allow the refugees the knowledge to be Farmers, Doctors, Engineers, and more than anything - learn that they will control thier own destiny and hopefully one day take back control of their countries.

Those of us who live in priviliged countries need to stand up and insist our politicians do more to stop the violence in area’s like Darfur and many others. The countries many of these refugees are going to, such as Syria, should truly focus on this so their own countries aren’t taking in more than they should have to.

That being said - Angelina is taking part in and going places most of us would NEVER even consider going. There are much easier ways to get press coverage and PR than doing what she is doing. This is obviously not just for Public Relations Purposes.

#54 Cause-Effect
You say: she is not changing the world. You help one person, a hundred take their place. You need to deal with the cause and not just the effect.

There is an old story about child walking on the beach at sunrise. He is throwing starfish back into the sea. A man is watching the child and says to him “What are you doing?” The child says–”I’m saving starfish–they die when the sun hits them.” The man replies-”How can you possibly make a difference–there are thousands of them on the beach.” The child says as he throws one in the water, “I made a difference to this one.”

Angie may not be saving thousands, but who knows–maybe that one she saved by caring (or by adopting) will turn out to do something great like find the cure for cancer or a solution to global warming. As humans we can make a difference one person at a time by showing kindness, compassion, caring–by giving hope.

Just keep on going Angie!
