Uh-oh…I see a little bump! I can see the Baby Train comin’ down the track. Total riot…last week L&S declared Angie too skinny to be ovulating and said a doctor told her she needed to gain weight. I have predictions corrections. I predict no pregnancy.

I have her exact body type, same legs, height, chest everything. If I gain weight the first place it shows is my stomach and the last place is my legs. I have a feeling Angelina is the same way.

Use your brains, if you have any. Why in the world is it necessary for TWO PARENTS to drop off ONE CHILD at school? One parents drops him off in the morning, the other picks him up in the afternoon. The way any sensible parents would do it.

I feel sad for Maddox. Despite Brad’s and Angelina’s efforts to let him have a close to normal as possible school life by taking him to school through the front door (yeah,it’s simple AND it counts!), he’s deprived even of that because of his parents’ celebrity status. He is a very brave boy to face this chaos every day. I wish that he can go back to using the front door, just like his school mates, saying hi to each other as they all go in.

HOLLYWOOD HEAVYWEIGHT: Celebrity bodyguard Tai Vaimaona protects the lives and secrets of stars, but likes to come home to his family, pictured with wife Alice, in their Frankton home.
He is a Hollywood heavyweight - the muscle behind the stars. Samoan-born bodyguard Tai Vaimaona talks about life with Mariah, Marlon, Britney and Enrique, and coming home to his New Zealand family.
Tai Vaimaona’s handshake is firm and strong. A diamond-encrusted watch sits heavily on his wrist.
It seems oddly out of place in a modest Frankton villa.
“Take a seat,” offers Vaimaona, 45, in a Californian drawl, folding his muscular body into a sofa. His strong, Samoan features relax into a smile.
Wife Alice, 33, sits nearby, her long wavy hair and pretty face make her a dead ringer for Beyonce or Jennifer Lopez.
The world of celebrities seems far from suburban Hamilton, but Vaimaona and his wife are intimately involved with life in the Hollywood hills.
Vaimaona is a bodyguard to the stars.
Vaimaona works for big names such as Mariah Carey, Jackie Collins and rapper Lil’ Kim.
Other clients include bands Linkin Park, Korn, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and stars Nicole Kidman, Whitney Houston, Paris Hilton, Enrique Iglesias, and the late Marlon Brando.
The watch is worth $14,000, a gift from Korn drummer Dave Silveria, a client and a friend.
Vaimaona has just blown off one of the entertainment industry’s biggest names.
“Britney Spears has called me up, wanting me to help her out, but I’m too busy.”
He’s home for a 10-day holiday, visiting Alice and son Tyler, 10, who is a student at Frankton Primary School. Alice is a Wintec business student and aspiring singer.
“I’d make millions of dollars if I wrote a book, I guarantee you,” says Vaimaona, sipping a cup of tea.
He was with Mariah Carey right through her physical and emotional meltdown in 2002, and when she was stalked by her former boyfriend, Latin singer Luis Miguel.
“I had to stay up with her 20 hours a day,” says Vaimaona, who has worked with Carey for seven years.
“She would come outside, with her glass of wine, and sit down and start talking. My job was to make her feel secure. It’s not my job to judge.”
Vaimaona was born in American Samoa into a strict Mormon family, but raised in Los Angeles from 11.
He spent time in the US Army and was a police officer in the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) for 18 years.
He worked in South-Central LA, in gang narcotics.
About 20 years ago, he began moonlighting as a bodyguard, for hip hop group Niggaz With Attitude (N.W.A.), and found the role rewarding.
“All the (police) officers wanted to work for celebrities,” says Vaimaona.
“It was for the pay, but also because you could travel the world, and everything was paid for - your flights, your food, your accommodation. I’ve been all over Europe, Asia, South America, and the US, to every state, 1000 times.”
There was a potential conflict of interest for off-duty police, turning a blind eye to clients’ illegal activities.
The LAPD no longer allow officers to work as security or bodyguards.
“When I worked for Bone Thugs N Harmony, these guys would get so drunk before a show, and they’d want to drink or smoke up in the car,” says Vaimaona.
He retired from the police and became a full-time bodyguard.
He estimates about 30 per cent of Hollywood bodyguards are former police, and “the other 70 per cent are guys in the right place at the right time”.
For any bodyguard, “it’s not your place” to tell clients how to behave. “It’s the manager’s job”.
Also, knowing what information to keep discreetly under your hat is one of the unspoken rules of being a bodyguard.
“It is my job to keep them safe,” says Vaimaona.
He’s not interested in ratting out clients. And it’s one of the reasons celebrities trust him - his loyalty.
“The day I move to New Zealand and retire, is the day I give it all up,” he laughs.
The current custody case between Spears and Kevin Federline over their two young sons has seen her former bodyguard, Tony Barretto, testify in court this week, alleging he saw Spears use drugs.
Vaimaona frowns on Barretto’s actions.
“(Snitching) is a no-no in the industry,” he says, adding the bodyguard only worked with Spears for a month and barely knew her.
Vaimaona works two days a week for Jackie Collins, earning $60,000 a year, and freelances the other five days a week.
He is a trusted employee, advising her and comforting her when her beloved dog was sick.
Bodyguard work can involve long hours, with pay usually $US25-$US70 an hour, but as high as $US100 an hour for high-risk assignments.
He has two guns, a .45 calibre Glock and a 9 mm Baretta, and uses one or the other depending on the client.
“If it’s a rapper like Ice T or 50 Cent, or any gangsters, then I have a .45,” says Vaimaona.
“I refuse to do rappers though, it’s too dangerous and libellous. If you pull a gun in a crowd you could lose your license (for carrying a concealed weapon) and $100 an hour isn’t worth it.”
The risk of death or injury in being a bodyguard for a hip hop artist seems quite high - Busta Rhymes’ bodyguard was shot and killed last February, and bodyguards for 50 Cent, Snoop Dog, P Diddy and other rappers have been in altercations or trouble involving guns.
“I’m not taking a bullet for a client,” says Vaimaona.
“If they want to get you, and kill you, they will kill you. It’s our job to get them to the safest place, but could I take a bullet for them? No. For Jackie or Mariah, yes, because I know they would take care of my family and kids.”
There have been some fun moments, with the celebrities, who consider him a friend.
“Lil’ Kim and I went to the Beckhams’ ‘welcome to LA’ party, thrown by Will Smith and Tom Cruise, and she was holding my hand as we went up the red carpet. Everyone wanted to know who her new boyfriend was.”
Vaimaona says the most important quality for a bodyguard is patience.
This is followed by physical fitness - he works out six days a week. He says training and a background in martial arts is very valuable.
The third quality is communication, which is particularly important - at 1.78cm and 100kg, Vaimaona is solid, but no giant.
“You’ve got to be able to talk to people,” says Vaimaona.
Things have changed in the 20 years he’s been in the business.
“Paparazzi are more violent these days, and they know you can’t get angry back,” says Vaimaona.
“If you touch them, they will sue you for $10,000 or $20,000. But there are ways to talk to them, and I try and develop a good relationship with the paparazzi. It’s all about communication.”
He sometimes sweetens the mob with signatures from his celebrity clients, which helps develop rapport.
Vaimaona is a family man, and has four sons; Brandon, 24, John, 20, Joey, 17, and Tyler.
Alice, a New Zealand-born Cook Islander, felt it was important to bring their youngest son up in a country where he can learn about his Pacific Island heritage.
The couple met in Samoa when she was Miss Cook Islands New Zealand 1994-95. It was a whirlwind romance, which saw Vaimaona move to New Zealand briefly, where he proposed.
The former beauty queen has also worked in the Hollywood bodyguarding business, encouraged by her husband.
Her clients have ranged from rockers Red Hot Chili Peppers, to Arabian royal families. It’s been a culture shock for the Kiwi.
“Money is no object to them, they can buy a Lamborghini and just leave it,” says Alice.
“One time, they brought six jet skis and didn’t want to use them anymore, they were bored, so they said ‘just give the keys away’.
“I’ve been with a client at an exclusive Hollywood store, where you have to get buzzed in. Paris (Hilton) was downstairs but they didn’t let her in. My client bought two dresses, vintage Chanel, one $40,000, one $50,000, like it was nothing.”
Insiders to the celebrity world, bodyguards know the story before the gossip hits the magazines.
“We knew Jen (Aniston) and Brad (Pitt) were going to break up before it happened, and Britney and Justin (Timberlake),” says Alice.
When Jessica Simpson and husband Nick Lachey were breaking up, Vaimaona knew before the press because Simpson was seeing one of his clients. He was security for Maroon Five at the time.
“Adam (Levine, vocalist) rang saying someone special was coming up to the gate. It was Simpson, but he said, `don’t tell anyone’. Two weeks later, Simpson broke up with Lachey.”
Another time, his nephew was working as bodyguard for Lindsay Lohan, when she was hanging out with Paris Hilton.
“They were at the Palms Hotel (in Las Vegas), doing all kinds of crazy stuff, and he called me and said, ‘do I have to go in there with them? They are doing all this illegal stuff’. And I said to him, `stand outside the door, don’t listen or look, sing a song to yourself if you want, and think of the dollar bills’.”
Being half a world away is a sweet thing for Vaimaona. He doesn’t understand the All Blacks ( “why do they keep kicking it out for touch?”) but is a fan of Kiwi beer, particularly Tui.
He is enjoying the quiet life, away from Hollywood. “I was driving down the main street here at 8pm last night and it was so quiet compared to LA,” laughs Vaimaona.

i don’t want to go all personal here but i really take offense whenever someone here degrades being bipolar. it is a legitimate illness and it’s sometimes worse than calling someone a ****** because there are really many functioning bipolar people out there. i have a cousin who is one and she is as normal as every other human being that exist in this planet. i hope those who hate this couple and especially angelina desist in slandering her in that way. it is really hurtful to alot of people.

Downtown: Heights stands in for D.C.

George Clooney and Brad Pitt have invaded the neighborhood to film their latest flick, the Coen Brothers’ “Burn After Reading,” and I, for one, can’t wait for the Hollywood heartthrobs to hit the road.

It’s impossible to not have noticed the throngs of production vehicles dominating our streets. From trailers on Cadman Plaza and Hicks Street to the elaborate craft service set-up — complete with a wrought-iron barbeque — on Clark Street, the whole thing is a major eyesore and a parking nightmare.

The epicenter of the filming is on State Street between Clinton and Court streets, where several houses have already been painted shades of red, yellow and blue to transform them into proper Georgetown residences.

Georgetown, as in Washington, DC. How’s that? We get all the traffic and congestion, but another city gets the on-screen credit?

“That was the look they wanted, so that’s what they’re going to do,” said Brooklyn Heights Association Executive Director Judy Stanton.

“That’s a particularly congested block,” Stanton added.

It’s going to get even more congested. If you’re walking to the Hillside dog park this Tuesday, there will be flaming pyrotechnics and bloody (well, fake-bloody) bodies on Middagh Street, according to a flyer from the film’s production company, Gramercy Productions.

Hi guli. This has been a fantasic week for Brad and Angelina. From the glowing reviews for TAOJJ to their appearance at Clinton’s conference. They both did well. The only negative was Splash new saying Angie looked frail. My gawd, just the week before the woman was walking the rc with her girls glowing like head lights. They also said she was flirting with B Clinton and the other men. I didn’t see that on the video. But I guess they can’t let there be too much good stuff.

Now no one has to ask where is Shiloh? She is in the toy store with her mother walking around shopping.

Trolls are truly running out of sh*t to talk about. Gawd am I glad. Now if only the “fans” would stop responding to them. Thanks Jared for all of the beautiful pictures. You’re simply the best. Peace.

The first thing I noticed when I see the pictures & went to my mind, she is pregnant. Look at the bump, or I maybe wrong, maybe pants just bulky at the middle. Brad looks so happy. ASEAN issued a blunt statement condemning the killings -”expressed their revulsion to Myanmar Foreign Minister Nyan Win over reports tjat tje demonstrations in Myanmar are being suppressed by violent force and that there has been a number of fatalities”. This is an unusual reaction because its core principle is “non-interference in the internal affairs of one another”.

With the killing of the Japanese journalist, Japan putting a pressure to China too in their stance to Burma and its military junta will open communication lines again in Burma. Right now, everything is shut-down and its a clear of defiance from the generals against the international community’s plea.

Shiloh has been walking since she was about 11 months old, April 2007 or so. Angelina spoke about Shiloh walking in an interview she gave in April/May. There were also pixs from Prague in May in which Shiloh was walking.

She’s probably not pregnant….. she’s getting the bump just like starving people in Ethiopia get. Your stomach starts to protrude when your starving. I guess these are the only pic’s we’re gonna be seeing for awhile - school with Maddox and shopping with the kids. What is the fascination, really? I think people watch them so closely because they’re just waiting for the break-up. Honestly, I don’t think they’d ever admit to a break up especially being watched so closely right now. When the frenzy surrounding them dies down, and they go and live a quieter life, that’s when we’ll hear about it. Not right now though. Right now it could be love or it could be a big show, but we’re never gonna know the truth….not for awhile.

NEW YORK — Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Archbishop Desmond Tutu were having a diplomatic face-off during a panel discussion on, basically, how to save the world from itself, the meta-theme of the Clinton Global Initiative.

You go first, Tutu motioned to Karzai. No, motioned Karzai, you go first.

It’s hard to imagine anybody but a former president speaking to dignitaries that way, but the exchange captured the urgency and the informality of the three-day conference, which ends today. (The impish Tutu had brought the house down when he described Myanmar’s persecuted political activist Aung San Suu Kyi as his “only pin-up.”)

Later, everyone else’s pin-up, Angelina Jolie, brought many to tears as she recounted recently meeting an 8-year-old Iraqi refugee in Syria. The boy had befriended a badly burned beggar, cleaning his wounds and selling tissues on the street to feed them both. When she asked him if he’d like to become a doctor one day, he demurred. “I can’t,” Jolie said he told her. “I have to sell tissues.”

There was a point: Jolie had just announced a major partnership worth close to $150 million aimed at providing education for children in conflict zones around the world. “We need to help them be doctors,” she said as her eyes reddened.

Not to be outdone, the man she described to reporters as “my uh, my uh, Brad” had also announced that he and philanthropist-producer Stephen L. Bing were ponying up $5 million each in a matching fund to create 150 affordable, sustainable homes in New Orleans’ Katrina-ravaged Lower 9th Ward.

The Clinton Global Initiative is a festival of philanthropic and socially responsible investment. Heads of state, CEOs, billionaires, mere millionaires and celebrities join up with nongovernmental organizations and underfunded activists looking to solve four generally intractable world problems: climate change, poverty, health and education. Guests this year included former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson, Nobel Peace laureate and Grameen Bank founder Muhammad Yunus, former Irish President Mary Robinson, Ted Turner and Rupert Murdoch.

Members, who must be invited, pay $15,000 a year and undergo rigorous screening. They are expected to make substantial commitments to one of the four areas of focus during the conference. Those who do not follow through are not invited back.

This means they will miss grand opportunities to do good work, as well as some pretty good parties. On Tuesday, for instance, there was a screening of “The Kite Runner.” Thursday, a private concert featuring Tony Bennett and the African Children’s Choir was scheduled at Carnegie Hall.

On Wednesday evening, it was a bash at the Museum of Modern Art. Clinton popped in briefly to spend some time in a VIP room — heads of state only. Maybe he had to leave early to watch his wife debate her rivals for the Democratic presidential nomination.

Partisan politics is not, however, on the agenda at the Clinton Global Initiative. Its major underwriter, B. Thomas Golisano, who earned his billions as founder of Paychex, which processes payrolls, is a Republican who has run for governor of New York as an independent. “I was somewhat surprised at the cost of it,” he said, “but after I witnessed the first one, I thought, ‘What a great deal.’ ”

Politics did come up briefly at the MoMA party, when former Democratic presidential contender Gen. Wesley K. Clark and his wife, Gertrude, stopped near a Jackson Pollock to chat. “Big mistake to stay out of Iowa,” said Gertrude Clark, referring to her husband’s decision not to participate in the state’s caucuses in 2004. “We got really bad advice on that.” Her husband, who had just greeted the Democratic Leadership Council’s Al From, was wary: “You got a microphone in your skirt?” he asked.

In the museum’s atrium, former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe chatted with producer Lawrence Bender, who was blogging on the gathering for the Huffington Post.

The big-ticket commitments are worked out in advance, some independent of the conference. Florida Gov. Charlie Crist accepted plaudits for Florida Power & Light’s $2.4-billion clean-energy program that will include the construction of solar power plants.

In another commitment, eight U.S. utility companies (not usually the good guys in your global warming circles) committed to investing $1 billion a year over three years to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 5 million tons a year — the equivalent, they said, of taking about a million cars off the road.

Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg announced a multinational billion-dollar plan to drastically lower childhood and maternal mortality. At a news conference, he was flanked by the leaders of Mozambique, Indonesia and the Netherlands, as well as an envoy from British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, the World Bank’s new president, Robert B. Zoellick, and the head of UNICEF.

While those efforts get the limelight, in small discussion groups, members sometimes make spontaneous gestures of generosity, sort of like speed-dating for social good. Pankaj Shah, a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, was so moved by Inderjit Khurana, who created schools for impoverished children on 17 railway stations in India, that he gave her $200,000 on the spot, an amount equivalent to her entire annual budget.

“I didn’t know her from a hole in the wall,” said Shah, who stood out in his red T-shirt and jeans among the suits and ties. “I just saw that a relatively small amount of money could make a huge difference.”

It’s difficult to imagine anyone other than the popular former president trying to save the world on this scale. As wonky as he is charismatic, Clinton managed during a 30-minute news conference to discourse knowledgeably on the incremental nature of political and social change; carbon markets versus carbon taxes; the 150,000-year history of human existence; how educating girls and women is not only the way to stop overpopulation (because they will marry later and have smaller families), but also the way to stop illegal immigration (because eventually, countries with low birthrates will be crying for immigrants); and the controversy over releasing the list of donors to his foundation and presidential library.

After reeling off a list of facts and figures attesting to the initiative’s success, Clinton was asked by a reporter from the French newspaper Le Monde, “Why do you do this?”

To summarize: He feels obligated to give something back to a world that has given him so much, he hasn’t lost interest in global problems just because he isn’t president anymore, and mainly because he really enjoys it.

the link to my suggestion that we take up Elizabeth’s idea to wear a RED shirt is here. I do think it could send a powerful message if millions of people wear a red shirt or scarf of something to signify solidarity with Myanmese people and the monks. Please pass this message on. I believe it is a small but significant gesture if enough people wear something RED next Friday.

I grew up in a third world country with its fair share of corruption. I’ve been involved in business in Asia and seen my fair share of corruption, in so many many forms.

In the state of Sabah or Sarawak, companies used to write off whole licenses for timber concessions when the state political parties changed after an election. This is because the new government under a new leader would want NEW BRIBES.

It’s like a rape.

After the first few tropical storms wash away the already thin top soil, the subsequent tropical storm washes away the clay like soil running ochre into streams. In a tropical land like Malaysia, I’ve seen land where not even the local wild grass called lallang, can grow. It’s just barren for years.

So, if you do business, you are ALWAYS, whether directly or indirectly SUPPORTING THE BLO-ODY REGIME.
