OlderBrad Pitt Goes on ‘Parade’
Brad Pitt tells Parade that one thing that is certain are his kids, Maddox, 6, Pax, 3, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 16 months. Here are some snippets from his interview:
On his increasing doubt in religion as he got older: “I had crises of faith. I thought you had to experience things if you want to know right from wrong. I’d go to Christian revivals and be moved by the Holy Spirit, and I’d go to rock concerts and feel the same fervor. Then I’d be told, ‘That’s the Devil’s music! Don’t partake in that!’ I wanted to experience things religion said not to experience.”
On having scuttled his fundamentalist beliefs by the time he entered college: “When I got untethered from the comfort of religion, it wasn’t a loss of faith for me, it was a discovery of self,” he says. “I had faith that I’m capable enough to handle any situation. There’s peace in understanding that I have only one life, here and now, and I’m responsible.”
On his faith in his family: “What’s important to me is that I’ve defined my beliefs and lived according to them and not betrayed them. One of those is my belief in my family. I still have faith in that.”
On his early taste with fame: “When fame really hit me was when ‘Legends of the Fall’ was released. You get no warning about what celebrity is or how to deal with it. It’s sort of multitiered. The initial stage is feeling discombobulated and not up to the task. I didn’t understand the incessant attention when I went outside, the way people completely focused on me. It made me very uncomfortable. Then you start to see the fickleness of celebrity that it isn’t rooted in something of real value. There is this strange wanting by people to get next to you. It has nothing to do with you but with something they feel they are missing in themselves.”
On the crazy paparazzi: “I understand the tabloid machine. There’s money to be made off of Angie and me, but it has gotten so out-of-hand. There’s no decency, even when it comes to our kids. I mean, yesterday Angie was taking Maddie off to school. There were 30 paparazzi outside. One guy sticks a video camera in Mad’s face, yelling, ‘Maddox! Maddox!’ He doesn’t get a response. He doesn’t know my boy. Mad is already savvy to this, unfortunately. But my 2-year-old dreads being anyplace there are cameras. It scares her. They’re all in her face. My kids are faced with this every day! It’s disgusting. So we’ve been run out of L.A., all the major cities. We just can’t live there. You don’t understand–this is the hunt, the hunt, the hunt! I thought it might be over a year ago. It’s gotten worse.”

Like anybody who’s worked with him, I’ve become a huge fan. At some point. it’s got to be a burden being the coolest guy on the planet. I mean, we’re all looking to him for guidance. But he wears it so well. I have enormous affection and respect for him. He’s a really good actor. When you look like that, it’s hard to get people to pay attention to what you’re actually doing. He’s fearless. I don’t know anyone else in his position who’s taken the chances he has.

Brad and Angie both are fearless. They are so match.
This is why I hate Brad Pitt, besides the face that he’s the most overrated man in humankind history..
He’s too conceited and focused on his PR image as the perfect man. Meanwhile, someone I admire like Jolie doesn’t care what the public thinks of her, so she has no PR person. She is the most open celebrity out there. When Brad hooked up with Angie, it helped change his image as the pretty boy to the humanitarian. Meanwhile, Angie is still known as the homewrecker, fake PR humanitarian, and horrible mother who prefers her adopted children over Shiloh. Brad is seen as the family man and humanitarian (even though he never did any of this stuff until he got with Angie, whose credit he stole for PR use). Jolie is continuously given this bad image, while Brad is the perfect man who was “Stolen” by a “homewrecker”.

I see Pitt has not outgrown his pr ways. If he was aware of the injustices in the world, how come for 40 years of his existence he did not do anything about it. Amazingly, less than 4 months after working with Angelina he is contacting Bono to see how he can help. And since his hookup with Angelina he is now known as a humanitarian more than before, it is very idiotic of him to be dismissive of Angelina’s influence on him on that aspect of his life.
I am very wary of Brad. He has used Angelina’s contact and influence to improve his image from a dumb eye candy to a respected humanitarian who with the help of Angelina is raising money for his charity in New Orleans and yet he finds it dificult to give her props the way she gives him. His fans always say he is private, but not private enough to talk about his college girlfriend and the infuence she had on him. He is afraid of saying something that will offend the mini van minority at the detriment of the mother of his children.
Angelina has taken so much beating in the media because of him and he cannot be man enough to speak up for her, and yes, before you post Angelina’s quote of him being more man than any man she has kown, when the men in her life have included Voight and Billy Bob, that is not exactly saying much and besides she doesn’t have a publicist to keep her informed of what is written and instruct her on what to say in response.
Brad will get my respect when he says what he feels as opposed to what he thinks will appeal to some people.
I heart Angelina Jolie, she is FIERCE, that is something Pitt will never be.

You act like a jealous ex lover , Brads image was fine before Angelina, compare his image (as you say) to Angie’s image (pre Brad, pre Maddox) and you tell me what do you get? Brad up to the point of Angie was one of the few celebs that did not have scandal attached to his name. Angie on other had pr disasters during her Billy Bob years. If Brad did not love Angie he would not have gone through everything he has not only to adopt maddox and Zahara, but create a family with her. His image took a hit for that very reason. If Angie did not love Brad, she also would not have gone through the crap she has by hooking up with him. They are both adults, I am sure they both new the risks and shitstorm they would create by getting together.
Brad hadjust as much connections and influence pre Angelina.He just never used it in a public way. The media followed her , but by being with Brad (whether you admit it or not) her stock went up, the spotlight on her became brighter, Angie has never been a mainstream celeb, Brad has. By being with him , she went mainstream and her causes also.
Angie has taken a beating? Angelina has always taking a beating because of her openess with the media, that is not Brad’s fault. Brad has taken an equal beating, and if he is worried about the “mini van majority as you say” then he would have never gotten with her in the first place , adopted her childern, and created a family , doing it all through the media shitstorm. They have both suffered, not just Angelina.

Exactly.. Angie only works for 2 films a year the least. She got pregnant for Brad, and almost an entire year off from acting. Brad’s paycheck for one film is enough for him for the rest of the year. Yet he piles himself with so many projects. Jolie who only works on two films a year, is criticised for being a bad mother who always works, and leaves the parenting to Brad and the nannies. Brad has STOLEN Angie’s humanitarian credit and mother credit. Angie is not seen as a homewrecker, horrible mother, and does photo ops not real philanthropist work. This is why I HATE Brad the fake PR boy.

First Effort of Pitt’s “Make it Right” Project Announced at Clinton Global Initiative, Where He Challenges Gathered Leaders to Join Him
Brad Pitt expanded his commitment to New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward today by announcing plans for a new community of homes in the area hardest-hit by the worst natural disaster in American history. He is partnering with Steve Bing in creating the 150 affordable and sustainable homes, which are the first effort of Pitt’s “Make it Right” project.
Pitt announced his plan at today’s meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative, where he challenged attendees to join him and Bing in rebuilding the Lower Ninth Ward. Pitt pledged to match $5 million in contributions to the project. Bing has pledged to match $5 million in contributions as well, for a total of $10,000,000 in matching funds.
The spirit of the community’s culture is central to Make It Right. “The heart and soul of New Orleans, specifically the people of the Lower 9th Ward, are paramount to this project,” said Pitt. “The words of one elderly man who is determined to return to New Orleans led to the name of our organization: he asked us, directly simply and profoundly, to help make it right. So that’s what we’re doing. We’re going to help to make it right with 150 sustainable, affordable houses—houses that stand out for their design both aesthetically and structurally, so that these people can live in beautiful safe structures that respect their spirit and provide a good quality of life.”
Pitt became a part-time resident of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. After seeing the devastation first hand and meeting with the hardest-hit residents, he began the Make It Right project to catalyze the rebuilding of the Lower 9th Ward.
The community Pitt announced today will address the dire need for single-family housing in the Lower 9th Ward and further spark rebuilding efforts in one of the richest cultural communities in America, an area that saw houses not just flooded by water, but swept off their foundations.
Pitt and Bing said Make it Right is committed to:
* Building 150 houses in the Lower 9th Ward
* Ensuring a green, affordable, sustainable, and replicable community to serve as a model for further rebuilding
* Including the Lower 9th Ward community as an integral part of the process
* Forming a core team of local, national and international architects
* Utilizing sustainable construction practices; William McDonough + Partners, an internationally recognized practitioner of Cradle to Cradle* design, will lead this effort.
* A finance plan that ensures that residents who wish to return to the Lower Ninth Ward can do so without further financial hardship
Core Make It Right team members also include Graft, an innovative architecture firm that Pitt has collaborated with on projects around the world; Cherokee Gives Back Foundation, the nonprofit arm of Cherokee, a firm that specializes in remediation and sustainable redevelopment of environmentally impaired properties; and Trevor Neilson and Nina Killeen, advisors to the Jolie-Pitt Foundation.
Make It Right’s mission is built upon catalyzing redevelopment of the Lower Ninth Ward by building a neighborhood of safe and healthy homes that incorporates modern, high-quality design and construction while preserving the spirit of the community’s culture.
Last year, Pitt worked with Global Green in developing sustainable green multi-family housing in the Lower 9th Ward. In addition to replacing housing destroyed by Katrina, the sustainable design incorporated into the homes will help ease the financial burden of high energy costs and reduce their environmental impact.
The effort, which began with an architectural competition, sought to bring opportunity out of the devastation of Katrina by creating something better than was there before. Make It Right is taking this project a step further by committing to a community of safe, sustainable homes that incorporate the spirit and culture of the Lower 9th Ward and encourage it to flourish.

Make It Right is collaborating with William McDonough + Partners to develop the environmental criteria guiding the project, using Cradle to Cradle thinking to influence design and materials selections for the new homes. This philosophy, developed by William McDonough and Michael Braungart in Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things (North Point Press, 2002), was inspired by natural systems. In the natural world, the sun continually generates new growth and feeds living systems. One organism’s waste nourishes another—waste equals food. Ideally, all products could be reused as nutrients in either biological or technical systems, indefinitely recycled back into comparable products. This is the next-generation goal we are working towards using today’s products and technologies.

It was always poor Angie. When Brad got together with Angie, all the X fans/haters told him to run away with Shiloh. while 435 makes some valid points about Angie taking most of the heat Brad is not to blame society is. The bad image exists because there is a lack of respect for women in society. Which is precisely why no one ever points a finger at Brad for making the CHOICE to leave jen. Angie gets a bad wrap because she is strong, opinionated and independent which makes most people nervous. I say more power to her for living the life that she wants.
It’s all silly. Brad wasn’t forced into having 4 kids. Adoption procreation are all concious decisions, lots of paperwork lots of time to be able to change his mind perhaps not so much in Shiloh’s case but certainly in adopting Maddox and Zahara and then Pax.
Will, self control these are things one can excersise if they are in a happy stable relationship as some people would like to think about brad and jen. You don’t just leave your wife for something insignificant. You don’t just turn your life upside down to be noticed or for PR you turn everything on its head because you truly believe in something powerful and worth the risk. They didn’t need that. The fact is Brad and Jen had the PR thing covered….
