OlderBrad Pitt Goes on ‘Parade’
Brad Pitt tells Parade that one thing that is certain are his kids, Maddox, 6, Pax, 3, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 16 months. Here are some snippets from his interview:
On his increasing doubt in religion as he got older: “I had crises of faith. I thought you had to experience things if you want to know right from wrong. I’d go to Christian revivals and be moved by the Holy Spirit, and I’d go to rock concerts and feel the same fervor. Then I’d be told, ‘That’s the Devil’s music! Don’t partake in that!’ I wanted to experience things religion said not to experience.”
On having scuttled his fundamentalist beliefs by the time he entered college: “When I got untethered from the comfort of religion, it wasn’t a loss of faith for me, it was a discovery of self,” he says. “I had faith that I’m capable enough to handle any situation. There’s peace in understanding that I have only one life, here and now, and I’m responsible.”
On his faith in his family: “What’s important to me is that I’ve defined my beliefs and lived according to them and not betrayed them. One of those is my belief in my family. I still have faith in that.”
On his early taste with fame: “When fame really hit me was when ‘Legends of the Fall’ was released. You get no warning about what celebrity is or how to deal with it. It’s sort of multitiered. The initial stage is feeling discombobulated and not up to the task. I didn’t understand the incessant attention when I went outside, the way people completely focused on me. It made me very uncomfortable. Then you start to see the fickleness of celebrity that it isn’t rooted in something of real value. There is this strange wanting by people to get next to you. It has nothing to do with you but with something they feel they are missing in themselves.”
On the crazy paparazzi: “I understand the tabloid machine. There’s money to be made off of Angie and me, but it has gotten so out-of-hand. There’s no decency, even when it comes to our kids. I mean, yesterday Angie was taking Maddie off to school. There were 30 paparazzi outside. One guy sticks a video camera in Mad’s face, yelling, ‘Maddox! Maddox!’ He doesn’t get a response. He doesn’t know my boy. Mad is already savvy to this, unfortunately. But my 2-year-old dreads being anyplace there are cameras. It scares her. They’re all in her face. My kids are faced with this every day! It’s disgusting. So we’ve been run out of L.A., all the major cities. We just can’t live there. You don’t understand–this is the hunt, the hunt, the hunt! I thought it might be over a year ago. It’s gotten worse.”

oh woe me, the paps are always there where ever we go. STFU Brad. i think it’s hilarious that a couple who seems to be highly educated and aware of social issues and such, can’t seem to figure out how to create/give themselves and their kids a normal life. it isn’t that hard.

He is starting to sound brainwashed by Angelina. They continue to put their children & themselves in situations where they are bound to get attacked by the papz but they are “so confused” as to why this is happening…..People who want to be seen as “smart & worldy” one moment and then “innocent & unegotistical” the next & whenever they feel it convenient are either LIARS or LYING TO THEMSELVES. Either way….who needs it?

they don’t have to be generous about it. they can just simply not bring their kids everywhere they go just like what other celeb parents do. it’s simple as that. yet they parade them around like their the latest accessories.
remember when he was pimpin pix of shiloh out to the papz on the set of his movie? remember when he set up the photo-op of Zahara and himself on the horse buggy ride through CENTRAL PARK? Stop pimping your kids out, brotox .
look how long it took them to figure out to use the back door at Mad’s school. If you don’t want them yelled out and photographed, quit giving paps every opportunity to.

Thank you for seeing this the same way as I do. They are so rediculous with how they operate this manufactured family unit aka publicity machine. If he’s so worried about Zahara being scared of the cameras….how about they keep her away from situations that scare her…like THE CAMERAS? It’s sorta simple to do really…if they actually wanted to do it. But they don’t OBVIOUSLY.

I probably had a crisis in my 30’s. I had a turbulent life (while married to his ex). Some of my movies flopped. My career suffered greatly.
Life is too short. I need life to be everything I want it to be. My ex and I decided to end the charade because we both want to lead meaningful lives. Together we cannot have purpose driven lives because we have divergent goals and different priorities in life. I respect the deep friendship we shared for seven years. Angelina is not the cause of the break-up of the farcical MERGER.
After meeting Angie, I became a NEW man, both intimately and artistically speaking. She is my great love, the mother of my kids and she means the world to me.
Angie and I are as much as in love as in the first day. I am totally committed to her. She is the only focus in my vision for the future.

no problem lars, i totally agree with you. i mean brad acts like his sh*t doesn’t smell. oh it does, it does.
how about slowing down on making movies? isn’t that what angelina said she wanted? she said she couldn’t wait for them to live a normal life but brad has a bunch of movies lined up. so , i think he cares more about his career than his family. he just talks and gives people what he thinks they want to hear.

Should they keep their kids hidden? Locked in a deep dark cave to protect them or continue to live their life as a family and do what they do?
All this fake concern cracks me up….all celebs take their kids out in the same matter as the JP’s but people like yourselfs don’t care to see those photos and that’s why we don’t see it all the time. BP isn’t the only celeb that is saying the same thing about the photohogs that follow them and shoot pics of his children and he will not be the last.
