OlderBrad Pitt Goes on ‘Parade’
Brad Pitt tells Parade that one thing that is certain are his kids, Maddox, 6, Pax, 3, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 16 months. Here are some snippets from his interview:
On his increasing doubt in religion as he got older: “I had crises of faith. I thought you had to experience things if you want to know right from wrong. I’d go to Christian revivals and be moved by the Holy Spirit, and I’d go to rock concerts and feel the same fervor. Then I’d be told, ‘That’s the Devil’s music! Don’t partake in that!’ I wanted to experience things religion said not to experience.”
On having scuttled his fundamentalist beliefs by the time he entered college: “When I got untethered from the comfort of religion, it wasn’t a loss of faith for me, it was a discovery of self,” he says. “I had faith that I’m capable enough to handle any situation. There’s peace in understanding that I have only one life, here and now, and I’m responsible.”
On his faith in his family: “What’s important to me is that I’ve defined my beliefs and lived according to them and not betrayed them. One of those is my belief in my family. I still have faith in that.”
On his early taste with fame: “When fame really hit me was when ‘Legends of the Fall’ was released. You get no warning about what celebrity is or how to deal with it. It’s sort of multitiered. The initial stage is feeling discombobulated and not up to the task. I didn’t understand the incessant attention when I went outside, the way people completely focused on me. It made me very uncomfortable. Then you start to see the fickleness of celebrity that it isn’t rooted in something of real value. There is this strange wanting by people to get next to you. It has nothing to do with you but with something they feel they are missing in themselves.”
On the crazy paparazzi: “I understand the tabloid machine. There’s money to be made off of Angie and me, but it has gotten so out-of-hand. There’s no decency, even when it comes to our kids. I mean, yesterday Angie was taking Maddie off to school. There were 30 paparazzi outside. One guy sticks a video camera in Mad’s face, yelling, ‘Maddox! Maddox!’ He doesn’t get a response. He doesn’t know my boy. Mad is already savvy to this, unfortunately. But my 2-year-old dreads being anyplace there are cameras. It scares her. They’re all in her face. My kids are faced with this every day! It’s disgusting. So we’ve been run out of L.A., all the major cities. We just can’t live there. You don’t understand–this is the hunt, the hunt, the hunt! I thought it might be over a year ago. It’s gotten worse.”

I am afraid that JA fans won’t let this thing go till Jennifer finds and marries and has a child with someone that they approve of. So I say that we all pray that Jennifer finds that person SOON. Until then her fans will not rest easy.

Now why would the JPs live their lives to suit the trolls and the haters? They have a right to parade their kids whenever they want to and they have a right to say don’t take photographs too close to the face of my kids. They are tax paying American citizens who have every right to walk the streets, eat where they want, play where they want.

#493: thank you, facts. Sometimes we all need reminders of what once was. I never knew a lot of what you posted so it’s nice to be informed. Those who gripe about it are just doing it for the sake of griping, nothing more. It’s getting harder for them to find rocks to throw at the JPs so even a little dirt is good enough.
I like Brad and Angie. Don’t care about all the negativism! All are interested in them or they would be at this site!

Angelina did not make him stop believing in God. He was already questioning certain things way before he met Angelina. From reading the article I don’t get the feeling that he stopped believing in anything. I think he has evolved and continues to do so. It is a spiritual journey for all of us. We continue to evolve, mature till we take our last breath in this life. One’s spiritual journey never ends..even in the next life one’s spirit continues to evolve till it gets nearer and nearer to God. All we take from this earth is the good deeds we have done. And he certainly is doing a lot of that here on God’s earth.
He is a good man. He is a sincere man. I would not worry about his soul if I were you.

Thank you so much Tijen!! You are absolutely right. It’s so funny when so called fans of Brad are accusing Angelina for everything and so called Angelina fans are accusing Brad for everything. And in the other hand they try to tell us that they are true fans and they just having an “opinion”. LOL!!
Brad said that he started to have doubts in high school!! Angie was just born around that time. LOL!!
Brad is an extremely OPEN MINDED man. He sees no boundaries among people. He said that EVERYONE has the same rights and the same opportunities in life no matter which religion they believe in.
That’s why he had so many doubts about religion. He is searching the TRUE meaning behind it. Which is love and care and acceptance for EVERYONE. He just doesn’t agree with the way people want to use religion for their personal benefits to divide people.
And I totally agree with him.
This was a very revealing interview. Although Brad has expressed many times before his thoughts about religion, fame and his childhood it’s interesting to see how much he has matured throughout the years. Now he sees everything from a father’s perspective.
Angie and Brad are very similar. That’s why Angie said that they figured out that they have many things in common.
As Angie said people don’t know sh*t about Brad. It’s convenient for them to think of him as dump and shallow just because of his looks. It’s easier to think of him as “Golden boy” than a MAN with all the meaning of the word.
Too bad his is very smart and he was willing to take challenges in his life and make it better and make his desires come true. He wanted to live out of the box they wanted to put him and see the world as it really is.
I wish him and his family the very best in life.
