OlderBrad Pitt Goes on ‘Parade’
Brad Pitt tells Parade that one thing that is certain are his kids, Maddox, 6, Pax, 3, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 16 months. Here are some snippets from his interview:
On his increasing doubt in religion as he got older: “I had crises of faith. I thought you had to experience things if you want to know right from wrong. I’d go to Christian revivals and be moved by the Holy Spirit, and I’d go to rock concerts and feel the same fervor. Then I’d be told, ‘That’s the Devil’s music! Don’t partake in that!’ I wanted to experience things religion said not to experience.”
On having scuttled his fundamentalist beliefs by the time he entered college: “When I got untethered from the comfort of religion, it wasn’t a loss of faith for me, it was a discovery of self,” he says. “I had faith that I’m capable enough to handle any situation. There’s peace in understanding that I have only one life, here and now, and I’m responsible.”
On his faith in his family: “What’s important to me is that I’ve defined my beliefs and lived according to them and not betrayed them. One of those is my belief in my family. I still have faith in that.”
On his early taste with fame: “When fame really hit me was when ‘Legends of the Fall’ was released. You get no warning about what celebrity is or how to deal with it. It’s sort of multitiered. The initial stage is feeling discombobulated and not up to the task. I didn’t understand the incessant attention when I went outside, the way people completely focused on me. It made me very uncomfortable. Then you start to see the fickleness of celebrity that it isn’t rooted in something of real value. There is this strange wanting by people to get next to you. It has nothing to do with you but with something they feel they are missing in themselves.”
On the crazy paparazzi: “I understand the tabloid machine. There’s money to be made off of Angie and me, but it has gotten so out-of-hand. There’s no decency, even when it comes to our kids. I mean, yesterday Angie was taking Maddie off to school. There were 30 paparazzi outside. One guy sticks a video camera in Mad’s face, yelling, ‘Maddox! Maddox!’ He doesn’t get a response. He doesn’t know my boy. Mad is already savvy to this, unfortunately. But my 2-year-old dreads being anyplace there are cameras. It scares her. They’re all in her face. My kids are faced with this every day! It’s disgusting. So we’ve been run out of L.A., all the major cities. We just can’t live there. You don’t understand–this is the hunt, the hunt, the hunt! I thought it might be over a year ago. It’s gotten worse.”

They’re what’s called a phenomenon just like the Beatles. It’s a twofer of star power and beauty. They just have that “it” factor going and in combination, it was explosive. Can you imagine if they could also sing…my,my wouldn’t that be a hoot!
The Beckhams lost steam early on in the game. Blame his bum ankle (maybe Posh is doing that right now). If he’d played as he should have, they’d have had a chance but Becks isn’t even smiling anymore. He always looked p*ssed off in his pics and Posh can’t keep up the shopping spree forever. Her chance at TV was also cut down in infancy. She’s probably going they left England for this?

Yeah but then it would be The End of her career, if she happily settles down. Her female fans still care for her BECAUSE she appears in need of their support with no love and no child (plus her ex is so happily settled with 4 kids, makes them feel she has been cheated out of happiness). She is extending that status knowing that’s her only ticket to sustain her fame. Well she has chosen career over personal happiness long ago. Nothing new.

I did not realize that some of Angelina fans felt so frustrated with Brad. What more do you want him to do exactly? He is being a very helpful partner and good father to their kids. He told the Italian TV that Angie is his great love and a fantastic mother. Isn’t that the greatest compliment?

Please………dont fall into the trap. There is NO Angie fan here who is not also and equally a fan of Brad and vice-versa. I see Pitt has not outgrown his pr ways. If he was aware of the injustices in the world, how come for 40 years of his existence he did not do anything about it.

Pitt was involved before that in various charitable efforts. I remember him donating $100,000 to something back in Missouri - maybe his university - ages ago before he was married to Jennifer.
Why don’t you question Bill Gates who didn’t start doing any charity until he was 40. And he had huge sums of money - billions.
An aside to an earlier post: From all reports Jolie and Pitt only met in person on the set of MAMS which started shooting January 1, 2004 or the day after.
Before that date they only talked on the phone discussing the movie.

Gawd, please forgive me. When you are doing something you shouldn’t be doing, going on line before the sun sets, and your eyes are blurry, you make a fool of yourself. I AGREE with the posters who say that Brad can give credit to his college girlfriend about showing a new life but won’t say or defend our Angie. Sorry if I sound off but he is certainly singing now and putting his foot in his mouth. How is it that a man like him can all of a sudden be on the cover of Time mag as one of the great humanitarians when he has not spent one night in a refugee camp and done anything remotely significant but give money. True he has the NO thing but that’s the only thing I can recall him doing. As Angie stated before I tend to wonder if it’s not a competition thing with him. He think he can outdo her efforts.He popularity has skyrocketed since AJ and so has interest in her but not popularity. Some of his arrogance is starting to return. He wanted her to keep quiet about her pregnancy and their relationship and she did it until last Dec and always praising him and he never says anything good about her because of his PR.
I know he cares for her and their family but, it’s bad for him to put his career first. Maybe she knows or see something that I don’t but Angie give 100% in her relationships and falls hard and he seems phony to me. All the while I hope they lst but she won’t stay in a relationship that is fake. Regardless of the kids. They are opposite and he has the control over her in a sense. I think I can say a lot of things to bash him about mainly his actiing and not deserving even an Oscar nom. He is geting known in the political world because of her and he knows it and uses it quite well. I’ve also noticed howvocal he is about some things he is quite a number now. What happened to the quiet and private Brad ANgie talked about in Vogue.
I forgot to mention I hope he’s not teaching those children to be believe in God. Angie does. And something why does he use that extensive vocabulary when he speaks like he’s trying to prove to people that he is smart or something?

Brad is a real family man. He’s smart and beautiful human being.
Brad’s just confirmed his low intelligence. Omg whinging about the paps, they completely court publicity. You can’t have it both ways. If he gives one iota about how it’s affecting the kids then him and Angelina would go live on a ranch somewhere and do the odd film.
Some humanitarian, any one that truly cared about the less fortunate would appreciate the luck and good fortune and not moan…I’m sick of seeing those two to be honest.

I can understand your frustration. I always think it’s quite unfair dragging Angie to the divorce mess he created with X. But looking how happy, contend Angie is, totally sacrificing everything most notably her career just to be with Brad, Brad must have really treated her well. let us be happy for Angie, finally found a guy she can count on, and hope Brad will take good care of his baby’s momma.
Angie was the only woman in Brad’s life who was willing to gave him everything without asking for a return favor. hope Brad see it and treasure it .

I’m fairly certain that if the Jolie-Pitts bought some enormous compound in the middle of nowhere deep South or Midwest, they wouldn’t have these kinds of paparazzi problems. They fly their own private jets, for pete’s sake, it’s not as if they couldn’t get to premieres, fundraisers, or whatever just as easily. So they can’t live in LA anymore, big deal. A 5-star hotel in New York is less visible? Please. If they genuinely believe that “the hunt” is bad for their children, then they should get out of that world. Anything less is sacrificing the family you say you believe in so much to your own visibility and ongoing career. They certainly have enough money to do philanthropy for the rest of their lives and still protect their children from growing up with cameras in their faces. The fact is they want it both ways.

Every celebrity complains about paparazzi hounding their kids,Reese in Elle,Jen Garner in Marie Claire so I guess they should all move their kids to a compound and retire.They are In NY because Brad is filming a movie
