Brad Pitt Goes on ‘Parade’
Brad Pitt tells Parade that one thing that is certain are his kids, Maddox, 6, Pax, 3, Zahara, 2, and Shiloh, 16 months. Here are some snippets from his interview:
On his increasing doubt in religion as he got older: “I had crises of faith. I thought you had to experience things if you want to know right from wrong. I’d go to Christian revivals and be moved by the Holy Spirit, and I’d go to rock concerts and feel the same fervor. Then I’d be told, ‘That’s the Devil’s music! Don’t partake in that!’ I wanted to experience things religion said not to experience.”
On having scuttled his fundamentalist beliefs by the time he entered college: “When I got untethered from the comfort of religion, it wasn’t a loss of faith for me, it was a discovery of self,” he says. “I had faith that I’m capable enough to handle any situation. There’s peace in understanding that I have only one life, here and now, and I’m responsible.”
On his faith in his family: “What’s important to me is that I’ve defined my beliefs and lived according to them and not betrayed them. One of those is my belief in my family. I still have faith in that.”
On his early taste with fame: “When fame really hit me was when ‘Legends of the Fall’ was released. You get no warning about what celebrity is or how to deal with it. It’s sort of multitiered. The initial stage is feeling discombobulated and not up to the task. I didn’t understand the incessant attention when I went outside, the way people completely focused on me. It made me very uncomfortable. Then you start to see the fickleness of celebrity that it isn’t rooted in something of real value. There is this strange wanting by people to get next to you. It has nothing to do with you but with something they feel they are missing in themselves.”
On the crazy paparazzi: “I understand the tabloid machine. There’s money to be made off of Angie and me, but it has gotten so out-of-hand. There’s no decency, even when it comes to our kids. I mean, yesterday Angie was taking Maddie off to school. There were 30 paparazzi outside. One guy sticks a video camera in Mad’s face, yelling, ‘Maddox! Maddox!’ He doesn’t get a response. He doesn’t know my boy. Mad is already savvy to this, unfortunately. But my 2-year-old dreads being anyplace there are cameras. It scares her. They’re all in her face. My kids are faced with this every day! It’s disgusting. So we’ve been run out of L.A., all the major cities. We just can’t live there. You don’t understand–this is the hunt, the hunt, the hunt! I thought it might be over a year ago. It’s gotten worse.”

Well, it takes one who has undergone a spiritual change to understand what Brad is saying.
Those who don’t get…fine. Spiritual change/growth is not for everyone but at least acknowledge that your opinion is just what it is - your opinion.
Lastly, spirituality is very personal and no one’s is better than another nor have the right to criticize someone else.
One just never goes on and criticize another’s spiritual change/growth unless one is a fanatic to boot. As a matter of fact, those thta are criticizing him here are no much different that all such religious fanatics such as talibans.

So they shouldn’t take they kids to school? Or they shouldn’t take their kids out to play at a local playground where millions of others parents take their kids to do all across this country b/c it’s in a major city? How would you explain that to a six, four, two and a 16 month old? “oh you can’t go out in play today b/c we are in NYC or NOLA” could you imagine how upset those kids would be? But in your opinion it would be protecting them by allowing them to lead a shelter live with no social interaction with anyone their own age outside of their family. YEP that makes sense!
Then you suggest that they leave their children with others when they do publicity which won’t change a thing b/c we have seen photos of Grandma and Grandpa Pitt taking the kids out without Brad and Angelina present but the photohogs still took pics.
The truth is that Brad and Angelina bring in money for this guys and anybody who is an extension of BP and AJ bring money that includes their children and what you are suggesting is that they leave their kids with others when they do publicity but when they were waiting for Shiloh’s birth neither one of them had any film projects yet they were still hounded. The JP’s are money makers for publications and that’s why no matter what they will be photohogs following them and their children and sending their kids off to live with grandparents isn’t going to change anything except the tune you and those “concern” now will say then “why don’t they take care of their own kids and not pawn them off to others”
But like you said their is a middle ground and IMO they are walking it as good as they can. No other celebs are followed as much as Brad, Angelina and their children and they are trying to live as normal of a life as possible with basically the world watching your every move.

#67: vanessa, I don’t think he’s saying he doesn’t believe in God, it’s just that he doesn’t believe that God could be what they say He is in organized religion. If he has faith in family, then he has faith in God especially now that he is so blessed with Angie and the kids. He just does not subscribe to an organized religion now.
He has a prayer tattoed on him just like Angie. Whether Buddhist or whatever, that is still a belief in God for both of them. Angie even has a cross on her tummy and before anyone jumps in and says it’s to cover up some old one, it is still a cross. She could have chose to put in an animal, vegetable or mineral over it but she did not.

Rotflmao…the Fanistons are losing it! Oh my goodness, the poor dears…despite what they want to believe, BP actually loves his life.
Lol @ their new swan song… “AJ made him stop believing in God”… this coming from the most judgmental people I’ve ever met. They have no problem wishing people dead and calling children names but are very upset because someone does not believe in God. Rotflmao…with people like these advocating religion, it’s no wonder many people are looking elsewhere for spirituality.

I agree with your point regarding alerting the papz. They don’t have to. They should KNOW that the papz will be there because of the star power they have. They should also know when the paps will be out en force more than usual. That’s why they should leave their children in a place where they won’t have to encounter it. Of course they can’t (as some people have over-dramatically put it) lock them in dungeons. But there is no need for them to be EVERYWHERE their perents are if it’s going to potentially upset them. It’s not normal for a parent to knowingly put their child in a situation that will undoubtedly upset them especially when some of these more exaggerated encounters continue to occur i.e the ordeals they had with picking Maddox up at school.

(((((CLAPPING))))))) !!!!!
I guess their God says it is OK to hate people that have never harmed you or you even ever met. Did their God also tell them it was OK to wish that Angie miscarried Shi, or wish that they all died in a plane crash. Well if that is their God, thanks but no thanks !!!!
Hum. Wonder why no declarations of adoration or appreciation for Jolie or mention of their relationship. It sounds like it’s more of a business partnership, really. You’d think after all this time, especially in Parade, which is respectable and circulated EVERYWHERE for free and in the Sunday paper, that he would kind of acknowledge that he loves her, etc. I mean, she’s barely mentioned and if she is, it’s all about kids, kids, kids.
That would certainly have shut up any rumors of them not getting along. I still don’t understand why they don’t just get married. Is it that bad of an institution? I don’t think so.
