Halle Berry @ Oprah
Mommy-to-be Halle Berry shows off her baby bump on Tuesday’s episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show.
On trying to have a baby with model boyfriend Gabriel Aubry for some time: “I’m sort of superstitious, so I saved all of the negative tests in a drawer. Don’t ask! I don’t know why, but I did. … After about 35 tests, we finally got a positive test.”
On when Halle passed the pregnant test: “While I was trying to get pregnant, we tried really hard, so it was a lot of staying home and just doing what you do. … I was watching a lot of [daytime] television and—don’t judge me for this—Maury Povich. … It was about, ‘You are the father. You’re not the father.’ … So what the women do when they find out he’s not the daddy, they run off the stage, right? They run to the back. I don’t know why, but they run to the back. So when we got the positive test—Gabriel was downstairs in the den—I ran upstairs! I got up there, and I thought, ‘I’ve been watching too much Maury!”
On the fashion shoot for a Versace ad where Halle met Gabriel, who is 10 years her junior: “There were, like, just pheromones flying off the walls.”
On Gabriel having so much integrity: “He does what he says he’s going to do. He’s very honest. I’ve learned to really appreciate honesty, even when you’re saying what I don’t want to hear, because it’s the truth. I think I used to like hearing what I wanted to hear, and not necessarily the truth. He’s always his authentic self, never worried about being judged. He doesn’t care what anybody thinks of who he is. To walk with that kind of confidence, … and with integrity, I know he has ability to love me, love our children, and he will do that.”
On having publicly said she she had no interest in ever walking down the aisle again after her second marriage ended in divorce: “What Gabriel and I have decided is we will just redefine marriage for ourselves. You know, that paper isn’t worth anything to me anymore. … I don’t want to do that again, so we have spent a lot of time talking about how can we redefine this. There’s all kinds of ways to commit to one another that doesn’t have to involve the government. I feel more married in a way than I ever have in two marriages before.”
On Gabriel being her spiritual partner: “We view life the same way. He really understands the spiritual connection is so much more important than the paper and the pomp and the circumstance and the ceremony. And that feels important to us.”
Also on today’s show: Halle’s co-star in Things We Lost in the Fire, Benicio Del Toro. Halle plays Audrey, a mother of two trying to cope with the sudden loss of her husband. Benicio plays Jerry, her dead husband’s oldest friend—a heroin addict she’s always detested for his weakness. Together, the widow and troubled junkie struggle to heal.

I’m so happy for her, she has wanted a baby for a long time. I hope everything goes well and she has a healthy, happy baby soon.
Good for u Halle, but saving those tests in your house is kinda disgusting. Didn’t you pee on them? So u are basically saving your own pee!!! Ewwww….
Im really happy for her. And she’s in a movie with Benicio so that usually means it’ll be good.
Ha! Im not the only one who watched Maury’s “Your not the father!” lol
Congrats. Halle !!!!!!! you will be the best mom Hollywood has ever seen
and the baby is going to be a masterpiece too ~~
* Excellent gene pool *
She looks radiant! wonderful!
she looks radiant and beautiful; pregnancy really fits her!
Good for her
She bores me and her movies stink.
She’s blooming!
never trust old women who keep their hair long.
most of them have serious issues with their age…
Good for her- I really wish her all the best.
Pregnancy seems to agree with her. It’s going to be a beautiful baby! It’s always nice to see someone who has wanted children so much finally get what they prayed for.
Poo - What a weird thing to post. Why would any of us worry about trusting her, we’re never going to meet her much less have any kind of relationship with her that would involve trust. And she’s not exactly what I would consider old.
yada yada yada ! I hate it when celebrities are trying to hard to gove the best monologies concerning their love life! Halle’s such a bore lately, and long hair hide all her best facial fetaures.. She’s lost her appeal. Gone are the dayz when she was soo hot with short hair and the orange bikini in Bond. I really have lost interest after seeing her mediocre acting in Perfect stranger!
She looks great. Any of us could only wish we look that good when we get that “old”. This new movie looks like it will be good but as a small independent film probably won’t make that much money.
So happy for her and wish her all the best w/ all that is going on around her.
I have lost interest in Halle when she became Angelina’s personal parrot…It’s so obvious….
Good for her. Can’t wait for her to ditch the long hair and go back to the trademark “Halle” haircut. I’m looking more forward to hearing and seeing Benicio Del Toro.
I wish Halle and Gabriel the very best and much happiness with their child.
Poo: Does Halle actually look old to you? 40 is not old. I think she looks gorgeous - as always, and probably will still look great when she’s 80.
her and demi are they same type of selfish, washed up hollywood woman, desperate to stay young with lots of surgery & much younger hotter boy toys and having babies past their expiration date. 40 is too old to have a baby. include her diabetes and you have a slim chance for a healthy child.
what does Angie have with this thread, are you so desperate to bring her name in every thread.you hate her just because she decided to have baby with her bf.you haters are pathetic
I love Halle and Angelina both and I wish Halle best during her pregnancy,it will be a very cute baby as her mom is.
She is “high risk” but I know she’ll do her best to stay fit and healthy.
I like her better with short hair…still beautiful though.
SO EXCITED.I THINK THE BABY WILL BE OKAY.BUT IT’S STILL A ******* CAUSE SHE AIN’T MARRIED.IT IS WHAT IT IS.SHE GOTTA DEAL WITH GOD ONE DAY…RICH OR NOT.
yay for her and gabriel! congrats halle
BENICIO IS EL GORGEOUSO!!
Congratulations, Halle and Gabriel! Just knew Oprah would have her on at the appropriate time….Oprah probably feels like a proud grandmother! Halle and Gabriel will be wonderful and loving parents–a beautiful gift on behalf of the world.
She looks great! I’m happy to see a mature woman who’s lived life, made her mistakes, learned from them, and picked herself up having the baby she’s wanted so badly!
For those of you who say that 40 is too old…i would much rather see Halle Berry being a mother than a 25-yr old idiot like Britney Spears. Those 2 Federline kids would’ve been so lucky to have halle as a mother instead of britney.
AND SHE LOOKS GORGEOUS! GO GIRL!
by the way…she’s so tiny and pretty!!!
Halle looks wonderful and I hope that she will have a good pregnancy and safe birth. Lovely to see Benicio on the program. He is a fabulous actor who manages to keep right out of the celebrity limelight. “Things We Lost In the Fire” should be a great movie.
What nice things to say about her man. Anyone wondering why she’s with Gabriel - it’s obvious. He has special qualities and an honest character. They don’t want to marry, but I hope they will one day.
i can’t wait to see their baby, she looks great, what a cute looking baby they’ll have.
Halle is a selfish and materialistic woman. It will be interesting to see if she even speaks about having diabetes on Oprah. Does Halle have Type 1 diabetes or Type 2 diabetes? She never comes out and speaks the truth and People Magazine has published conflicting stories on her health status. It would be so admirable of her to step forward and use her fame for someone besides herself on an ongoing basis. She does one print ad and attends one ball a year and considers that as helping the “cause.” She could be used in Washington, DC to lobby on Capitol Hill for more funding and Mary Tyler Moore could certainly use her help. John Madden’s grandson was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and he has done more in 6 months than Halle has done in 20 years. She should be ashamed of herself.
Jenny McCarthy, Holly Robinson Peete–these women earned their seats on Oprah. Halle–go home until you are ready to help others or at least be honest and share your experiences.
