Mommy-to-be Halle Berry shows off her baby bump on Tuesday’s episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show.
On trying to have a baby with model boyfriend Gabriel Aubry for some time: “I’m sort of superstitious, so I saved all of the negative tests in a drawer. Don’t ask! I don’t know why, but I did. … After about 35 tests, we finally got a positive test.”
On when Halle passed the pregnant test: “While I was trying to get pregnant, we tried really hard, so it was a lot of staying home and just doing what you do. … I was watching a lot of [daytime] television and—don’t judge me for this—Maury Povich. … It was about, ‘You are the father. You’re not the father.’ … So what the women do when they find out he’s not the daddy, they run off the stage, right? They run to the back. I don’t know why, but they run to the back. So when we got the positive test—Gabriel was downstairs in the den—I ran upstairs! I got up there, and I thought, ‘I’ve been watching too much Maury!”
On the fashion shoot for a Versace ad where Halle met Gabriel, who is 10 years her junior: “There were, like, just pheromones flying off the walls.”
On Gabriel having so much integrity: “He does what he says he’s going to do. He’s very honest. I’ve learned to really appreciate honesty, even when you’re saying what I don’t want to hear, because it’s the truth. I think I used to like hearing what I wanted to hear, and not necessarily the truth. He’s always his authentic self, never worried about being judged. He doesn’t care what anybody thinks of who he is. To walk with that kind of confidence, … and with integrity, I know he has ability to love me, love our children, and he will do that.”
On having publicly said she she had no interest in ever walking down the aisle again after her second marriage ended in divorce: “What Gabriel and I have decided is we will just redefine marriage for ourselves. You know, that paper isn’t worth anything to me anymore. … I don’t want to do that again, so we have spent a lot of time talking about how can we redefine this. There’s all kinds of ways to commit to one another that doesn’t have to involve the government. I feel more married in a way than I ever have in two marriages before.”
On Gabriel being her spiritual partner: “We view life the same way. He really understands the spiritual connection is so much more important than the paper and the pomp and the circumstance and the ceremony. And that feels important to us.”
Also on today’s show: Halle’s co-star in Things We Lost in the Fire, Benicio Del Toro. Halle plays Audrey, a mother of two trying to cope with the sudden loss of her husband. Benicio plays Jerry, her dead husband’s oldest friend—a heroin addict she’s always detested for his weakness. Together, the widow and troubled junkie struggle to heal.

She looks great! I’m happy to see a mature woman who’s lived life, made her mistakes, learned from them, and picked herself up having the baby she’s wanted so badly!
For those of you who say that 40 is too old…i would much rather see Halle Berry being a mother than a 25-yr old idiot like Britney Spears. Those 2 Federline kids would’ve been so lucky to have halle as a mother instead of britney.

Halle looks wonderful and I hope that she will have a good pregnancy and safe birth. Lovely to see Benicio on the program. He is a fabulous actor who manages to keep right out of the celebrity limelight. “Things We Lost In the Fire” should be a great movie.
What nice things to say about her man. Anyone wondering why she’s with Gabriel - it’s obvious. He has special qualities and an honest character. They don’t want to marry, but I hope they will one day.

Halle is a selfish and materialistic woman. It will be interesting to see if she even speaks about having diabetes on Oprah. Does Halle have Type 1 diabetes or Type 2 diabetes? She never comes out and speaks the truth and People Magazine has published conflicting stories on her health status. It would be so admirable of her to step forward and use her fame for someone besides herself on an ongoing basis. She does one print ad and attends one ball a year and considers that as helping the “cause.” She could be used in Washington, DC to lobby on Capitol Hill for more funding and Mary Tyler Moore could certainly use her help. John Madden’s grandson was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and he has done more in 6 months than Halle has done in 20 years. She should be ashamed of herself.
Jenny McCarthy, Holly Robinson Peete–these women earned their seats on Oprah. Halle–go home until you are ready to help others or at least be honest and share your experiences.

She has no obligation to you or any one else to speak about her medical history. Diabetics have healthy babies all the time. Unless you have uncontrolled diabetes, she is perfectly capable of having a healthy child. You are not a medical professional and don’t know what you are talking about. 40 is not too old to have a child. Many women do and Halle can afford the best medical care to monitor her through her pregnancy. If she spoke anout her diabetes then you would say she talks too much and should not be telling others what to do. no matter what she does or does not do there will be critics on both sides of this diabetes debate.

If the criteria to be on oprah were that all guests/celebrities have done good deeds prior, she wouldn’t have a freakin show. Agree with ras—why didn’t she talk about her diabetes with her pregnancy–she can really be beneficial help to woman who are diabetic and want to have children or older woman w/diabetes who want to have kids. It has always been about her. Well said.
It’s great she wanted to share the good news with Oprah and the viewers. Don’t care about how she conceived or how many HP kits she used (answers the questions of many posters on the other blogs as to what was in the bags when she was shopping–LOL) or how wonderful a guy Aubry is (we all know that he is according to her. But she also said the same thing about each of the exes until the fell from grace in her eyes or got tired of her bs) and that’s great that she wants another kid right away–Halle first see how it goes with the first one before thinking about another. Sounds like she is in denial with her disease, what OBGYN would encourage this with her diabetes at her age?
Total horseshit about her wanting more kids right away, has she forgotten she’s 41 w/diabetes? And needed a movie role to prepare her for motherhood? Wasn’t she a mother in “Losing Isiaih”? Yes, she really did have in-vitro, but Aubry isn’t the frozen Pop. Ya’ll are going to **** when you find out who it is? I know this for an absolute fact. And the amazing thing is that Halle doesn’t know that the frozen Pop knows it’s his kid. I guess we’ll have to find out on D-Day, huh?

Halle lying in perfect form on Oprah. Please she and model boy didn’t do the nasty as much as she claims. Known fact she went to the Pacific Fertility Clinic-LA in Westwood. He’s as spiritual as she is–nada. He’s got intergrity-more bs–he’s more shady than she is. Please. He’s nothing more than a paid sperm donor if he really is the babydaddy.
