glad to see you posting. My suggestion to “tired of hypocrisy” is to not only explain what factions are at war in Africa as you point out but to define “internal wars”. Wars are associated with armed conflict by two parties. The tragedy of Africa is that the people who are suffering have no weapons but are victims of a few trying to seize control over people who are not intent on anything other than living their lives.
re:69 “He popularizes a violent image to sell Something” #69 has also failed to recognize that perhaps the image is a deliberate attempt to trigger the observer to make note of the dichotomy of a publicized humanitarian with an image of a gun on his face to invoke a reminder of the precipitous nature of the very lives this person has helped to draw public attention to e.g. Darfur.

The point of art in some cases is to make the observer “think”, to expose them to a particular sensitive topic or issue…if the image of the gun drawn on a persons face makes one think of those who suffered at the hands of violence, then at least the observer has become more aware of the subject. Perhaps in this case what BP is “selling” is for people like “tired of hypocrisy” to wake up and as PT posts “walk the talk”. But “tired of hypocrisy” is too compelled to be critical of another who does “walk the talk” and obsessed by that compulsion to see the possible sophistication of such an image.

Where are their movies playing please?

precisely the point. Unfortunately, #69 is too much into self-created hypocrisy to understand the message, but this did not prevent to claim a pseudo-authority on the subject.

Glad to see your posts as well. Even winnowing through irrational posts at JJ has lately become an arduous task.

very arduous indeed.
#69’s post was also a “cheap shot” aimed at discrediting someone with a factual history of humanitarian good will. What people seem to forget is regardless of any hypothetical self-serving reason the critics conjure up regarding the Jolie-Pitts publicity on how and what they do with their personal time and money is that others in dire need are benefited by it…moreover, aside from the obvious it’s none of anyone elses business to choose for them how to and when to anything.
