you are absolutely correct and that was my point in my post #95 quoting myself “What the observer sees is not necessarily the intent of the photograph. Just because an artist draws a picture of a gun on canvas, does that mean he/she is pro gun? One sees what one wants to see in any image.” Every viewer has their own perspective coming from their personal bias and my response to #69 was intended to point that out. What is obviously wonderful about art is that two such different perspectives can result.

And again you are correct… lame or profound, plausible, complex, superficial? who knows? It is totally up to the viewer to decide and there are many possibilities, however as my post#133 addresses it is an issue of skewed bias and faulty conclusion with #69…not that biases are wrong or incorrect…the very nature of bias is solely a reflection of the person. My contention with #69 is the statement “he popularizes a violent image to sell something”, then #69 goes into the issue of guns in Africa concluding that BP is a hypocrite just because he is photographed with an image of gun on his face. The most logical, simplist timely conclusion is what you indicated i.e. promoting AOJJ and perhaps my interpretation is too profound or implausible but as I stated in my post #133, BP has a known history of humanitarian giving and it would be more far reaching to conclude that the general public would assume the gun image on his face implies he endorses guns and violence.

I honestly don’t believe most of the regular posters on this thread place them on a pedestal, some do, but most do not. We applaud them because the environment from which they were created is self indulged and self-absorbed and perhaps they are a little less so.”

The issue here is twofold.
1. because of what you describe, they do follow through more than the average “celebrity” (that is the negative issue with JA specifically who apparently does little in proportion to her relative dollar value)
2. and yes there are other celebrities who are committed but some celebrities are not of such high profile to influence the general public as much as this couple. AJ-BP have stated they are aware of their privileged situation and are committed to use their notoriety to educate and heighten awareness to issues they feel important…is that so wrong?

I totally agree with you on this and not to negate this wonderful statement because it should be appreciated but this is a celebrity blog.

Please remember because this is an open forum, you will get diversified personalities wanting to be heard… realists are few and far between. I am a realist as well and also find it difficult to shift through the nonsense but being flexible and tolerant until it hurts helps as in art and life.
