Cate Blanchett’s Feather Footwear
Cate Blanchett sports quite the questionable shoe selection at a special screening of Elizabeth: The Golden Age hosted by The Cinema Society and W Magazine on Wednesday in New York City.
Cate’s red carpet wardrobe is unlike any other actress’. The Aussie beauty is like a walking body of art and this exquisitely made black dress no exeception. The feather duster shoes? Not so much!

Cate takes risks with her wardrobe that usually pay off big, but the live crows strapped to her feet are more “pet cemetery” than high fashion.

SBIFF puts Blanchett in Master class

Cate Blanchett, who reprises her role as Queen Elizabeth in the upcoming “Elizabeth: The Golden Age,” will be honored with the Modern Master Award at the 2008 Santa Barbara International Film Festival.
She will receive the award during a tribute ceremony Jan. 26 at Santa Barbara’s Arlington Theatre.
Blanchett, who earned Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for her performance in 1998’s “Elizabeth,” also is known for her roles in such films as Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s “Babel” and Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. She won an Oscar for her portrayal of Katharine Hepburn in Martin Scorsese’s “The Aviator.” She also stars in Todd Haynes’ upcoming “I’m Not There,” in which she embodies one stage in the life of Bob Dylan.
“Cate Blanchett is the most consummate actor, and portraying Queen Elizabeth and Bob Dylan in the same year — and so indelibly — is pure alchemy,” SBIFF executive director Roger Durling said.
The SBIFF runs from Jan. 24-Feb. 3.
The Modern Master Award is the highest honor presented by the festival; past recipients include Michael Douglas, Jackson and Jodie Foster.
i don’t like her as a person, to me she is too arrogant, but i think the shoes are cute!

She is 38 years old. She was born in 1969, the same year as Aniston. They’re both pushing 40.But I like Blanchett’s acting.

I love how she always tries new and sometimes crazy things. She’s creative. She’s an artist. Sometimes it’s a hit and sometimes it’s a miss.
Why would anyone expect her to behave like an accountant? If she played her life and career safe and boring like most actors do, we’d see her in romcoms or doing the same thing in every movie. Instead we get an actor willing to take chanes with potential bombs and interesting roles like Bob Dylan, for gods sake, and not worrying about the box office.
I’m beginning to like those shoes. Simple black dress with a flourish - simple black shoes with a flourish. Yes. I like them. Better than that trash you usually see on the red carpet.

I’m sorry. Those shoes are awful. They look like her shoes are magnets and she ran through a field of iron filings. Just ugly.
I think she is superb actress and I love the way she takes risks with her RC clothing. She’s very stylish, but i guess, when yu take fashion risks, some times, you’d miss it. The shoes, to me, are a miss.
