zooey, maybe there’s so much Johnny in Cpt. Jack that people mistake it as Jack. If you look at Depp’s movies long before Pirates, you can definitely see some of those so-called Jack Sparrow shades in those movies. However, Depp brilliantly utilizes his talents to fit varied roles even if he uses the same techniques.

Also, about Johnny being a sell-out. I don’t think so. Pirates are hardly conventional, boring action films that don’t offer anything new. Cpt. Jack is something no one has seen, a rather unconventional hero. I think the movie moguls finally fell into Johnny’s trap; not vice versa. In addition, Depp still chooses interesting, and also minor production, films to make.

Yikes…he looks good, that man can play any character….When I found out he was doing this, I know it will turn out to be a blockbuster.

Depp vows never to raise child in U.S.

By WENN world entertainment news - 2 hours 20 minutes agoActor Johnny Depp has vowed never to raise his child in the U.S. - branding the country a truly “frightening” place.

The Pirates Of The Caribbean star, 44, currently lives with his wife, actress/model Vanessa Paradis, and two children - Lily-Rose, 8, Jack, 5 - in rural northern France.

And despite the fact he grew up in the U.S, he is vehement about never returning to his home country with his children.

He tells the New York Post, “I’m not particularly optimistic about society. We’re in an age where everything has gone too far. It’s an ugly world.

“I’m truly frightened of America in terms of raising my daughter here. I don’t believe that is an option at all.”
