The loonies are out in full force. Cracks me up how people act like they know them. These people need to chill on allowing these kids to be in the media so much. There are plenty of famous celebrity couples that protect their children these two need to take lessons. I also think it’s funny how every time people complain about something they are doing they seem to change. Frauds that’s all they are they need to go away and let these poor children have some privacy. Before you loonies go ballistic on me look at the Beckhams you don’t see them flaunting their kids to the media…no they believe in protecting their kids. For those who are saying they are paying an obsurd amount of money to stay at the Waldorf, well if I remember correctly they are not staying at the actual hotel. Angie owns a condo which is connected to the hotel, she has owned it since I think the late 90’s. Therefore they may be exiting in and out of the hotel but they are staying at her place that she owns there. Even if they were staying at the hotel I’m pretty sure the production company for Brad’s film that he is filming there is comping the expense, and if not who cares they can afford it. It is their right to do as they will with their money just like it is ours to do with ours as we like (of course after taxes and bills), the only difference they have more of it.

Let’s stop this legend of the 1/3 of her income given to charity.
According to Forbes, the earnings of Ms Jolie between june 2006 and june 2007 are estimated at $20 million and for Mr Pitt it’s $35 million.
According to givingback.org, the amount donated to charity in 2006 by Jolie and Pitt combined (read combined) is $2,415,000.
Well, it seems quite far from 1/3 to me, it’s not even 1/20, and yes it’s less than the money I give in % .

You need to learn how to read. When Forbes said Angie’s earnings was 20M, Forbes was saying it is the gross amount. Please go to this link, //www.forbes.com/lists/2007/53/07celebrities_Angelina-Jolie_T5SH.html . Per the article, Forbes said, “……Management, agent and attorney fees have not been deducted……”.

In real life, the net amount is a lot lower after deducting expenses. Very often, when people talk about contributing, they are referring to a certain % from the net amount and not the gross amount.

.Since Angie set up the Jolie Pitt foundation sometime in 2006, she could have given 1/3 of her income to the foundation. and true , it is a donation with a tax write off on her tax return. Since a foundation is NOT required to disburse all the money received, therefore, the amount which you quoted 2.4 M is the amount which her foundation dished out to charities and NOT the amount which Angie contributed to her foundation. That said, you cannot use this 2.4 million as a benchmark to gauge her %.

In fact, any CPA will advise her to always leave a big chunk of money, ( meaning NOT to dish out all the money from the foundation) , to serve as principal. In that case, you can continue to have money to fund the projects. To explain in layman terms. Think the analogy “mother hen and egg “. mother hen = principal (money which Angie donated), egg = interest ( or money earned from the principal). Another good example is , think Harvard endowment. Harvard only hands out all the interest earned from the principal as grant money to the students. Harvard NEVER touches the principal . In other words, the principal is always kept intact in the foundation.
REASON: You want to perpetuate the principal, so that there is the INCOME STREAM (eggs from the mother hen) to continue funding your charitable projects.

I also want to point out that once Angie gives money to the foundation, she cannot use that money for her personal purpose. That money belongs to the foundation. She has the authority to direct where the money goes, that is to legitimate charitable organizations. Every year, the foundation needs to file a tax return with the IRS detailing all the receipts and disbursements.

I do believethat she gave 1/3 of her income to charities. Later, I shall find you the article which O Reily did an investigation on her, and found that SHE WALKS THE WALK.

In short, there is no info on the internet which gives the amount of her net income, and unless you see her tax return, you have no info on her donation to her foundation. Therefore, you post is WRONG.

Dear ol’ 76 jack — stupid little a**h**e that you are. We can ALL donate 1/3 of our paychecks if we want. It will hurt us just as much as anyone else. Rich people have greater expenses. Donating 1/3 is not easy for anyone, period. We will all get tax breaks if we donate to charity, whether we are rich or poor. Any time any one of us goes on vacation and stays at a nice hotel, that money could also go to charity. Or are you calling every person in the world a hypocrite? Including yourself???? Can you never buy anything nice for yourself? Let’s stop the pretense. What AJ does is fantastic, and not everyone can or will do as much. As for the fact that she actually goes to those places and sees and lives around the actual conditions, and brings back first hand knowledge… that woman is a saint. Now Buzz off.
