Angelina Switches to Signature Black
Angelina Jolie switches from her white top and khakis into her signature black attire to pick up son Maddox, 6, from the Lycée Français de New York school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on Tuesday afternoon.
Ange wore a black top, blazer, pencil skirt and a new pair of Jimmy Choo peep-toes. Mad wore his usual school uniform with a blazer to boot.

I’m From Portland and I do understand the reviewers point of view. The people here really rely on the A&E section, they do a very good job on Their reviews, and really push for the public to see a Movie that They like. So that’s sucks that the review will not be in the paper this Friday.
In My Opinion the local levels can’t market it properly if the Movie critics can’t review it in time for the weekend Movie page.
———————————————–
Now I got it. Thanks julia!!
God, keep blessing and watching over the Jolie-Pitt family.
one more thing, I haven’t seen one commercial this month for TAOJJ.
So it’s not being Pushed in Portland AT ALL.. Someone at Warner Bros.is not doing there job.

I hope your daughter gets better every min of the day!
…… as for the trailers not being shown on tv, its true.
Last month for the release of AMH here in England, i never saw the AMH trailer. They just showed it on Sky channels, those who dont have sky and dont use the internet didn’t see any AMH trailer. SAD

Thanks to everyone for their replies. This is why I like JJ is to hear interesting discussions. When I was talking about promotion for the film I think I should have said advertising. Michael Clayton is being shown on tv commercials where I live three or four times a day and is really getting a lot of advertising money thrown at it. But as everyone has pointed out, it is a mainstream movie. I realize that TAOJJ is an art house film, but still you have one of the biggest movie stars in the world(especially internationally) in it who just won a major award and a lot of great reviews. Babel didn’t have much advertising money thrown at it either, but it ended up doing very well, so I hope TAOJJ will be the same.
367 think positive!
I liked your post but by the same token AMH is an art house movie, too, but it was marketed very differently. What is your take on why it was handled the way it was?
———————————————–
Hey Lynn!! Yes. Advertising is the right word indeed. Well Babel didn’t even have the half promotion the AOJJ had but it did really well worldwide in the end as you said. So it’s a bit early to say anything.
As for the AMH some people said that it was wrong to release it in the summer when mostly the blogbusters are attracting the audiences. For me movies such as AOJJ and AMH that are not attracting the masses, it doesn’t really matter when they will be released. People who are really interested in quality films will seek and search for them and they will go and see them no matter what. I’m talking from my personal experiences.
I didn’t expect neither of these two movies to be hits because of their artistic nature. Movies like Transformers and Shrek and Star Wars will always lead because that’s pure entertainment. That’s what most of people want to see.
Brad and Angie are not doing these films to make money. Brad recently said that he gets really satisfied when the movie is in the process to be completed and not when it will come out and what the audience’s reaction will be. Of course they care about that too but from their words they make these films for anyone who really wants to watch it and not for everybody.
That’s why they are doing movies such as “Wanted” and “Oceans” witch are commercial movies and they will do good so they can be free to make the choices they want and play roles they find expression in them as actor first.
That’s JMO.

My previous job was in a hospital. There is no way you give out medical details to anyone but the people requested by the patient.
A mental health inpatient once asked me for details of their estranged relative. Just imagine what could happen if I gave it out.
Medical Staff should know better. They deal with these issues every day.
I’m glad GC didn’t take the soft option and say they were being unfairly treated.
+++++++++++
Jess0 - I work at a medical center. People around here have been FIRED for accessing medical records they have no work-related reason to access. HIPAA regulations are very stringent and because this is a teaching hospital as well we have very strict guidelines for employees who have the ability to access patient accounts and patient medial records. A lot of employees don’t realize that EVERY screen that they flip through a digital signature is left behind that tells us what functions of the programs they’ve used or accessed. The people who got fired were stunned to find that out. Not just that it’s possible to tell they were on a certain screen, but the time and date stamp as well. The first thing people are told when they are given access to the systems is - don’t go into this software unless you have a legitmate reason to be there, if you do so and are caught, you will be terminated. So it’s not like they can’t say they weren’t warned.

Esquire does the same thing People does - they try not to give it to the same person every year, but come on…everybody knows it’s Angie, hands down. Charlize Theron is a better choice than the obviousness that is Jessica Alba.

That’s a shame but I’m sure they’ll get the recognition they deserve coming awards season. And both of the films are already critical acclaimed.
The same thing happened with Babel. You couldn’t see a trailer anywhere. But it did well after all.
Cheers ladies!! Have a nice day!! :)

Thanks. I’m ROTFL at 2 of the choices of theaters - The Landmark at Plaza Frontenac in St. Loo and The Palace at the Plaza in KC. Two of the TONIEST places in Missouri. Apparently Warner’s thinks that only the rich and the highly educated will be interested in this movie. It’s social profiling instead of racial profiling. Nice, Warners…nice.

Tv advertising slots are very expensive, especially prime time. And the internet and print media are good ways to reach the prospective audience for both AMH and TAOJJ because the people who would watch these 2 movies would be the more intellectual types who would read print media and probably browse the internet. it wouldnt be the same class of people who want to go and watch dumb and dumber or something like that:-)
So, by keeping their costs down etc, it is a good thing.
What is an issue is that Warner isn’t doing a good job promoting the movie through the print media if they are doing critics viewing etc. Especially when by and large, most critics and movie buffs think it is a seriously beautiful and great movie. I plan to watch TAOJJ on the big screen because you need that to see Deakin’s wonderful cinematography everyone is raving about.

I gotta say that those hospital staffers are very lucky. When I worked at a hospital, some staffers peeked at Pres. Clinton’s records and they were fired immediately.
++++++++++++
LOL! The PRESIDENT’S medical records? That deserves a firing and a slap upside the head. How stupid can you get? The Secret Service probably sent their own people in to scour the computer to see who had accessed the records and did a complete background check on them before telling the hospital the records had been violated! LOL. Those people don’t fool around.
Oscar Watch: Early Line on Oscar Actresses
As more and more of this year’s would-be Oscar contenders have been screened, Oscar pundits are starting to declare their favorites. MCN’s Gurus ‘o Gold makes the following Best Actress picks:
1. Marion Cotillard, La Vie en Rose
2. Julie Christie Away from Her
3. Keira Knightley Atonement
4. Ellen Page Juno
5. Cate Blanchett Elizabeth: The Golden Age tie
5. Angelina Jolie A Mighty Heart tie
7. Laura Linney The Savages
8. Halle Berry Things We Lost in the Fire
9. Cate Blanchett I’m Not There
10. Julia Roberts Charlie Wilson’s War
This list seems on the mark to me, given where things stand now, although The Weinstein Co. will campaign for Blanchett, whose cover photo on this weekend’s New York Times Magazine didn’t hurt, for supporting for I’m Not There. In the end, the actress race is competitive enough that if Elizabeth: The Golden Age falters with critics or audiences, popular as she is, Blanchett could fall out. [Here's her LAT profile by Rachel Abramowitz.] She should have won the first time! It’s hard to come back in a sequel.
The first Elizabeth was a classy art film. The second is more of a rousing entertainment (with fabulous sets and costumes). Although Elizabeth did not play well with critics in Toronto, Universal has plenty of sizzle to sell to moviegoers hungry for a period spectacle.
Boston blogger Stephen Schaefer lets fly on the “Best Actress race:
Oddly, Schaefer does not mention Angelina Jolie. Vantage will campaign for her when A Mighty Heart, which was well-reviewed, is released on DVD. Actors will likely recognize the caliber of her performance as Mariane Pearl. On the other hand, it’s a crowded field and the movie did not score at the boxoffice. How many people will watch this difficult subject on DVD? That is the question.

When I saw the story on Today and read about it here, I have to wonder why these people still have their jobs. At my hospital, just looking up those records got those people fired; but these people looked up these records and disclosed them to newspapers and whathaveyou. It makes me wonder if the hospital is withholding the fact that these people have been or will be fired. Does George’s media blitz have anything to do with this particular tack? Because even though George is playing ‘Mr. Good Guy’ in this situation, these people did violate a major regulation and in order to dissuade copycats, these people need to be made an example of, although firing is standard course of action when this happens. It’s Bizarro Special Treatment, IMO.
hollywood-elsewhere.com/archives/2007/10/jesse_dissed_in.php
Pheonix-based entertainment journalist Henry Cabot Beck wrote earlier today to report that “here in Arizona it was announced yesterday that despite The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford opening this Friday in Phoenix, it’s been decided at the last minute not to screen it for critics.
“It was touch-and-go yesterday for about an hour with the talk being that they might screen it tonight (Tuesday) with a one-day notice,” he adds. “Depending on how this shakes out, this could mean that Jesse James has become the most lauded, worst-treated movie of the year.
“Everybody’s split on the picture, but some feel that Andrew Dominik’s film is one of the best of the year. I fall a bit over into that camp. A Brad Pitt picture with some Oscar buzz, a couple of amazing performances — even if you don’t like the movie overall — and they’re treating it like a one-weekend horror ****.”

I’ve seen it twice and was able to drag other people along to it. The only thing I detest more than people ignoring this film outright are those who have access to it, and a big screen, but choose to wait until the dvd.

this is the best film of 2007 and it’s ******* disgusting how WB are treating it.
Posted by: actionman [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 9, 2007 04:03 PM
What a truly sad deal with the way this film has been treated by the studio. A masterful film starring Brad Pitt and no one knows about it. Interesting that this is also the same studio behind Michael Clayton.

Ok, I understand they’re a little unsure how to put this movie over to a mass audience, but not screening it for critics? What is the logic with that?
Posted by: cjKennedy [TypeKey Profile Page] at October 9, 2007 04:11 PM
I grew up worshipping Westerns in the fifties. AJJ is the greatest Western I have ever seen. It works on aesthetic, thematic, emotional, and entertainment levels. I love Mallick, but this is better than any of his films.

Same situation down in Tucson, where I’m the morning paper’s critic. I was asked yesterday afternoon if I was interested in seeing the film on short notice, said yes, then heard nothing back. It’s the Assassination of Jesse James by the Cowards at Warner Bros.

Some of us AZ critics don’t have the time to make 13-hour round trips to catch LA movies.
I’m sorry we failed you.

I got tired of hearing Jeffrey pound the pulpit for this movie day after day a few weeks ago. Then I saw it. It really is THAT good. Brad Pitt’s never been better, (busting out the Missouri accent helps) and it’s hard to imagine anyone topping Casey Affleck.
I’m psycho about historical realism… Not as much factual (i.e. I loved “Amadeus”) as visual… “Jesse James” is so spot-on from the production design to the dialogue to the costumes to the warped, non-machined, period-appropriate glass in the windows that I felt like a time-traveler…
Funny someone above mentioned “Little Children”… that was my fave last year.

I saw this on opening night here in Dallas last weekend. Theater was packed, but the grumblings afterwards were noticeable. I personally feel its a stunning film, one of my very favs of the year. I love how patient the whole thing is. Just watch the expression on Casey Affleck’s face change in that one long shot as Jesse James joins his family for dinner. Or the unbearable tension built up when Jesse goes to visit the character of Ed Miller. Dominik has hit this one out of the park. I was enthralled from start to finish. It’s a shame the studio isn’t behind this more, but what can you expect after its production problems for so long.

Warner Bros is in the process of killing TAOJJ. The film should be retitled to “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Warner Brothers.”
++++++++++++++++
Here’s a theory - maybe Warners is still mad at Brad for not renewing Plan B’s deal with them and moving to Paramount when Brad’s ex-partner Brad Grey took over as president there. Warners knew they were losing an up-and-coming production company with a lot of great projects in the works. Now they’re paying Brad back by tanking his last Plan B project for Warners.
