Joaquin Phoenix chats up his two films, We Own the Night and Reservation Road, on Monday’s episode of Late Night with Conan O’Brien.
Upon entering, Joaquin runs out and gives Conan a great big man hug. How adorable!
The 32-year-old actor talks about why he never watches his movies (again), humiliating his nephews (joking) and Christmas caroling.
Apparently Joaquin thinks “Feliz Navidad” means “corn is sweet”????????

Holy crap that was so funny. I am not a huge fan of Joaquin or anything but his homor was just so random. I was laughing out loud. Especially when he said should we dance and the audience cheered and he let out the sexy …OHH!!

He’s funny? Sounds more like he’s drunk to me. He slurs his speech throuout the whole interview. Especially when he’s talking about the caroling.
I think he’s amazing– I always have– and while I think I understand his sense of humor, I was also wondering if he was under the influence of something other than nerves. He’s uncomfortable in the spotlight, which is strange for an actor, but he seemed to be a little different on Conan’s show. It just makes me nervous because of his brother’s sad death.
Joaquin always slurs his words when he talks off-screen. He gets lazy. I know a lot of people who are the same way - they can talk crisp and clear when doing a presentation or whatever, but when they’re relaxing with their friends, its all mumbo jumbo.
Amazing actor. One of the best today. Where’s his Oscar?
I’m not so sure he actually does speak spanish, I think we all just like to think so because of his hertiage. Can’t think of a concrete example right now, but I know he’s messed around with the spanish language before too

I would pay money to see any movie with him in it. He is unbeleivable. So gifted. Such a talent. Amazing that a actor of his calibre is so humble too. He really is in a league of his own.

If he always slurs his words, then he’s probably drunk or high a lot of the time. He’s not relaxing with friends here. He’s on national tv.
Just google “Joaquin Phoenix drunk” to read about his alcohol abuse.
ALLEGED alcohol abuse. (Besides, we’re all guilty of abusing alcohol if you pick up any newspaper)
“Alleged”? Huh? The guy himself said he abused alcohol!
Why is it so important to focus on his former problems? He’s moved on from them and it shouldn’t take importance over his work. I don’t think he is drunk, i mumble and slur like that all the time and i’m teetotal, just lazy.
Anyway, very funny interview thanks so much for posting it, i watched it on YouTube but i can’t find it anymore…i love his big hug…wish i could get a hug from him like that!
