Angelina Jolie Not Wearing Black

Angelina Jolie strays from her regular black, white and khaki outfits and adds a splash of color into her wardrobe while picking up son Maddox, 6, from the Lycée Français de New York school on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on Wednesday afternoon.
The mother-of-four wore a bold yellow-ish green v-neck sweater by Joseph, a black pencil skirt and her fave new pair of black Jimmy Choo “Sami” peep-toes.
Did somebody say yellow-ish green? Isn’t that JustJared.com’s color?! Angie, are you shouting us out??

Actually no, because the car has to pull into an enclosed driveway/play area to use the side door, and that driveway is most often (I pass it every day and can attest to it) full of kids or supplies or tables or even recyclables stacked.
And I’ll add this — it’s not so simple to use that side entrance because first they have to open a big creaky gate that isn’t often opened which requires school staff, and then the car backs in, which requires that the rest of the very crowded block at school pickup and dropoff (I live here, it’s a dead end and the traffic and double parking is fierce) has to be held aside while the car maneuvers in. And then it goes out which means crowded sidewalk traffic (kids getting out of school) has to be held back so that the car can come out.
They seem to be able to use it more easily in the morning — I think they come in after the bulk of the students have arrived. My son sees them when he leaves for school, and he’s on a late schedule (senior who has some free periods in the beginning of the day)
So, no, they can’t just ask and use the side door. Who knows, there may even be zoning about using it as a driveway during certain hours. It’s a mixed block, commercial and residential.

Be careful what you wish for. Many of us fervently hoped Warner Brothers would bring The Assassination of Jesse James into a wide release through October. And now…
Yesterday afternoon I got an email from our Atlanta WB rep saying that Warner Brothers would be releasing the film in Atlanta…this Friday. Such a short lead time means little proper in-market advertising. It means that weeklies like ATL’s Creative Loafing won’t make deadline, and so won’t be running any coverage. Unlike some cities this week, Atlanta will get a press screening, so the AJC and other local outlets should be able to run coverage.
The same thing is happening in other cities around the country. I’d love to tell you which ones, but my questions to Warner Brothers asking for a list of cities for the 10/12 opening went unanswered.
Jeff Wells has written about the dumping in Las Vegas and Salt Lake City and it’s probably hitting other markets as well. This is an ignominious fate for an excellent film and a sad failure on the studio’s part. This would also have been the ideal time for Brad Pitt to get out and do at least a little bit of non-festival publicity.
I understand that this is a difficult movie to market, and it’s not an ‘audience movie’ in the way that Michael Clayton is. (Inasmuch as Gilroy’s film is at least an adult audience movie.) But when you’ve got every writer on the web except David Poland angling to help sell this bloody thing, there’s got to be some solution.
Check your papers this week. See the movie if you can. It’s worth it.

ROTFLMAO. No, an adult DIDN’T make it up…X did. It’s her favorite post-dumping pasttime…or at least is on those days that David Arquette can’t stand having her around another second. Screaming at the ocean, followed by tearing the limbs from dolls and burning them on the beach. Sometimes she even brings along a Goddess Circle flunky to start the fire for her.
The color is ugly and washes her out. The sunglasses are ugly, too, and look bad on her. Other than that, she looks good. She’s probably the only person in the world who can look like a movie star with no makeup on (and with messy hair). Gotta love Angie! :)

The article says she tried some of our traditional food and liked it and that she was very surprised when she found out that a tie (cravat) was invented in Croatia (if you call it an invention). She is just picking up her son from school. I have thrown on some very strange outfits to run to pick up my children. She looks wonderful no matter what she wears.

I have a feeling that good always wins over evil. Despite Warners attempt to make this movie Bomb am sure it will do well if not in the USA then in the international market better than Clooney’s movie. Watch this space.

In order for me to see this movie I would have to make a 2 hour drive to either St. Loo or KC. 4 hours round trip. Folks, this movie is in THREE MISSOURI theaters…and NONE IN BRAD’S HOMETOWN OF SPRINGFIELD! What kind of idiotic marketing is that? Springfield is not a huge city by any means, but it’s about 200,000 people and you can bet your ass that a lot of people down there would make an effort to see this movie.

New York City’s Waldorf Towers, located next to the tony Waldorf Astoria hotel, boasts both those qualities, making it the home of choice for both heads of state and Hollywood royalty. Its newest reported residents: pop culture king and queen Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.
The New York Post reported Tuesday that Pitt and Jolie have moved into an apartment in the Towers, citing anonymous sources. According to the Post, the couple also considered a residence in the newly built Time Warner Center but picked the Waldorf because they got a price break on the apartment.
Representatives for the Waldorf Towers declined to comment on the Post’s story, saying in a statement, “We do not comment on our guests in any capacity so as to respect their privacy while staying with us.”
Representatives for Pitt and Jolie did not immediately return phone calls or e-mail messages.
But people familiar with the needs of New York City’s elite agree that the Towers are a natural choice for the A-list couple. It boasts a sought-after zip code, fortress-like security and centuries of prestige — past residents of the Towers include President Herbert Hoover and musician Cole Porter. What more could Brad and Angie want?

“There is a whole mindset and methodology in place that is geared to elevating the protection of its guests and residents,” said Lou Palumbo, president and director of the Elite Agency, which provides protection for at least one head of state, cabinet level U.S. officials, members of the Chinese government and ABC News operations in New York.
Located just down the street from the United Nations where Jolie serves as goodwill ambassador, the Waldorf plays host to many of the 160 or so heads of state and dignitaries who arrive for the opening of the General Assembly.
“The Waldorf is well versed in the goings on of dignitaries from around the world and their security needs,” said Corcoran broker Dennis Colwell, who deals in luxury Manhattan real estate. “Plus, the Waldorf has a separate private entrance and elevators which allows Brad and Angelina to avoid the main hotel lobby and guests. Seriously, when would B & A have time to read this blog? Don’t they spend all their time taking care of their kids, having hot acting careers, -buying new clothes (Angie & the kids wear different outfits every day)

Angie and the kids DO NOT wear different outfits every day. I’ve seen Angie many times in the same outfit and she wears the same shoes all the time as well. How many times have we seen the nude flats?
As for the kids, not only do they wear the same stuff over and over they hand down among the kids as they outgrow stuff. I’ve seen Z wearing t-shirts the boys wore and the girls definitely trade off blouses and wear hand-me-downs from each other. The other day Shiloh was wearing the blue dress that Z wore in the People shoot a year ago. Angie is definitely getting her money’s worth on the kid’s clothing.

I don’t know if you saw my last post on TAOJJ but I believe that article when they say WB is trying to scuttle Brad’s movie and promoting George’s. I don’t think Brad is worried. I would imagine George should be worried. Because if his movie doesn’t do well, especially with WB giving him special treatment what does that say about George? People will search out TAOJJ if they suspect WB is playing dirty tricks. You know another thing I dislike? George has suddenly become the authority on Darfur. He makes a visit. Appears before Congress. Doesn’t donate money or anything, but he is refrenced and praised as a humanitarian. It’s called sucking up. Angie has been there more than once, and wrote an article on it. Oh well. He needs all he can get. Peace.

The much-awaited biopic of Lowell boxer “Irish” Micky Ward may finally be entering Round 2.
Yesterday morning, actor Mark Wahlberg appeared on Live with Regis and Kelly and confirmed that he has been preparing for his role as Ward in The Fighter. He also said megastar Brad Pitt will portray Ward’s brother and trainer, Dicky Eklund, also of Lowell.
The chipper morning co-hosts, Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa, asked Wahlberg about his apparent weight loss. The trim actor replied that he has been training for a year to step into the ring to play the Mill City boxing great.
“This is something I’ve always wanted to do,” Wahlberg said. “Doing Invincible was a big dream of mine, to put on NFL pads, so to play a champion, I want to look like one. I always feel like boxing movies have never really captured the real thing,”
He also confirmed that Pitt will step into the ring to play Ward’s older brother and trainer. A concerned Ripa asked the Boston native if he was overworking himself for film.
“I’m willing to go in there and take a couple of hits,” he said. “Brad Pitt is going to play the older brother in the movie, and was willing to do the same. It will be very special.”
Lowell native Richie Farrell, who directed and produced the 1995 HBO documentary High on Crack Street: Lost Lives in Lowell, has been involved in the rewrite of The Fighter with Scott Silver, who wrote 8 Mile, the movie that starred rapper Eminem. Eklund appeared in High on Crack Street, which followed the lives of three drug addicts and their struggles.
“Silver is the guy that made this happen,” said the optimistic Farrell. “He is the best writer for it. It’s going to be a great film and win all the Academy Awards that year.”
According to Wahlberg, filming is set to begin in mid- to late 2008.

MO Fan - the KC theater is on the Plaza, which is famous for it’s X-mas lights and is the ritziest shopping area in KC, much like Plaza Frontenac is for St. Louis. I called it “social profiling” earlier today. The movie is playing at theaters in MO that are in areas usually accessible only to those with high incomes. Yeah, you can drive to the theater from wherever, but the usual clientele are going to be upscale & educated. I guess their theory is that’s a better target audience than us dumb-ass hourly employee types.

I saw your post Dina. I’m laughing about WB promoting Porgie’s flick over Brad’s. When does it open? Is it this weekend? I’ll be interested to see how it does at the BO because I said it earlier and I firmly believe it - Porgie couldn’t open a Wendy’s. The movies he’s had hits with - they’ve been a francise action flick, co-starred Brad, and a disaster movie (Perfect Storm was about the worst maritime fishing storm in dog years). Other than that? Porgie flicks, as he stated on Letterman, have ALL BOMBED. That’s probably why he’s promoting the hell out of this one. It’s his best shot at a hit UNDER HIS OWN STEAM since he moved full-time to the silver-screen.

Broadcasting partners are still to be attached, hence the Mipcom launch, but MTV has committed to the project.
Anderson said Angelina Jolie wants to submit a film and Bob Geldof would lend his name.

Thank you, thank you! You are so quick, I was still on IMDb.com, trying to gather information on Johnny Depp’s bombs when you had them on the tips of your fingers. Ha ha! I don’t know why people always point the finger at Brad, when even Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, Johnny Depp and Will Smith had their fair share of bombing movies. That’s part of a movie star’s resume, isn’t it? So why only point the finger at Brad? You have to respect him for his integrity in fighting for the movie the way he and the director envisioned it, and not the way the studio wanted it.
If Brad really wanted blockbusters galore, he could have done a Harrison Ford and starred in Indiana Jones-like franchises (and 1st three Star Wars too). But he was always looking for quirky, independent roles that might or might not work out.

He will have to use steroids , build his body up, and take his shirt off in his next movie to distract us from his face. johnny still has his pretty smooth face.. he looks like he’s in his 30s.

The temptation for Pitt to deliver a Big Performance in such a role must have been considerable, but he (and Dominik) wisely opt for understatement. Unlike Russell Crowe’s Ben Wade in Yuma, James is a man with nothing left to prove, no one he needs to impress. His legend, already secure, is evident less in his own demeanor than in that of the people around him. “Rooms seemed hotter when he was in them,” an authorial voiceover declares at the opening of the film, and, not infrequently, we see the sweat on his companions’ brows. This becomes an ever more common occurrence as the film progresses and James’s suspicion that his men might betray him grows. As he calmly interrogates one gang member or another, his reputation hovers around him like black smoke, sapping their resolve even as it bolsters his own. There are a few occasions when he resorts to his pistol; more typically, an ominous, attentive silence is weapon enough.
One might expect Ford, with his nervous smile and schoolboy bravado, to be the first to crack, but he manages to endure James’s scrutiny even as he prepares to betray him. “I got qualities that don’t come shining through right at the outset,” Ford announces at one point, and while it’s a laughable boast, it is not an entirely empty one. Ford’s glaring weaknesses do mask underlying strengths, and Affleck captures the contradiction with skill, hugging the line between sympathetic and merely pitiable. The rest of the cast, too, is exceptional. Shepard, unsurprisingly, seems an actor born for Westerns who’s had the misfortune of working in an era when there have been few worthy ones made. Rockwell and (especially) Schneider give sharp, telegraphic performances as members of the ill-fated gang. Even peripheral characters–Mary-Louise Parker as James’s wife, Zee; Kailin See as the unhappy bride of a despised old man–make the most of limited screen time thanks to Dominik’s meticulous direction and the literate script he adapted from Ron Hansen’s eponymous novel.
To describe the film as a breakthrough for Dominik would be to damn it with understatement. The director’s only previous outing, the Australian film Chopper (2000), was a fascinating criminal psychoportrait, but it had nothing approaching the epic sweep, narrative texture, or sheer cinematic ambition of The Assassination. It is true that the film could perhaps be a touch shorter (an earlier cut ran to more than three hours), but Dominik’s unhurried pace and care for detail offer rewards in every scene.
He is immeasurably aided by the contributions of cinematographer Roger Deakins. His luminous landscapes are reminiscent of Terrence Malick; his interior shots, often candle-lit, are compositions of light and shadow as elegant as oil paintings. Had Rembrandt lived in 19th century Missouri, this is what his work would have looked like. Deakins, who is probably best known for his work with the Coen brothers, is enjoying a remarkable run this year, having also shot Paul Haggis’s In the Valley of Elah and the Coens’ upcoming No Country for Old Men. At Oscar time, the question may come down to which film he wins for.
In the end, though, it is the thematic richness of Dominik’s film that makes it not only the best film of the year so far but a strong contender for the greatest Western since Sergio Leone’s Once Upon a Time in the West nearly 40 years ago. Like most modern variations on the genre, The Assassination takes the form of an elegy, not merely for the Old West but for the Western itself. Yet Dominik succeeds in conjuring a sense of loss deeper than that of era or genre: the loss of the belief, naive but nonetheless sustaining, that giants might still walk the earth.
In Once Upon a Time in the West, the gunmen who once bestrode the American wilderness were pushed aside by commerce and technology, the relentless encroach of civilization. In Dominik’s more melancholy telling, they were laid to rest by wannabes, boys with picture books and pop guns and a gnawing hunger for notoriety. After Ford shoots James, he briefly becomes a national icon–more recognized, for a time, than the president–but it is an empty, parasitic fame, the ghost-twin of James’s legend. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford is the story of this transition, of the moment in America when myth was murdered by mere celebrity and we were left, perhaps forever, with only the latter’s meager consolations.

Jaxon - yep, she tore little dollies, prolly Barbies, limb from limb and burned them. The stupid cow actually said it in an interview last year…and yes it was AFTER Shiloh was born. Maybe someone who’s committed X’s interviews to memory can tell you which one, but it was during the TBU promos and it was a print interview, but that’s all I can remember about the specifics. The main reason I remember is…well…because we made fun of it all the time! LOL!
