Vanessa Hudgens is the new spokesmodel for Red by Marc Ecko, a contemporary young women’s apparel and footwear collection. The High School Musical star will be featured in in the fall and holiday 2007 and spring 2008 ad campaigns.
Here’s what the blurb says: “High School graduate Vanessa Hudgens celebrated her graduation (she was homeschooled) backstage during the shoot. Vanessa’s mom, her little sister, Stella, and her HSM co-star Ashley Tisdale were on hand for a cake from Sweet Lady Jane in LA and coffee treats from Starbucks.”
When Marc Ecko (founder and chief creative officer of Marc Ecko Enterprises) was asked about Vanessa’s nude photo scandal, he said, “More power to her. She made a mistake and has apologized for it. I’m just glad no one’s leaked the pictures of me in all of my naked glory.”

seeing as i am not a vanssa fan..
i wouldnt know, or care when she signed on to ecko red.
as far as i am concerned, in my eyes.. she has changed since hsm1.. if you look at the hsm1 filming.. you can see how sweet she was. now shes just fake. when shes with zac, she doesnt act the same as she does when she is alone. i saw the pics when she was messing with a paparazzi camera a while back, and she smiled and posed. when shes with zac, she has a total snobbish face on. she doesnt acknowledge anyone or anything. && a “good kid” doesnt do that or sleep over at guys apartments.. at 18. what is she setting us up to think? shes giving all young girls the impression that its okay to do what she does.. its sad. because she has such influence on young kids and teenagers.. and she abuses it, tremendously. yeah yeah it greats she doing charity work, now, but im sorry.. thats not going to change my impression of her.
she just recently started charity work, from what ive heard.. she never used to go to church or do any of that until after the scandal.. so to me, she is completely fake. have u seen anymore church pictures? i dont think so.
&&& no where in my post did i mention or say that i didnt want her to be successful.. i dont hate her. i just dont see her as a romodel anymore.

I could be wrong but I suspect we won’t be hearing Vanessa talking quite so openly about being a “role model” anymore. I say this not because I think she’s unfit, I say it because if I think one of the things her experience of the past month has probably taught her its that its too hard. I would go so far as to say its almost impossible. For one thing if you make a mistake somewhere along the line thare are those in the media who can be very unforgiving. They will over overanalyze every faux pas you have ever made. Like all those pictures of Vanessa goofing off with her friends and indulging in what I would call mildly naughty behavior that “suddenly came to light” after the scandal hit. Most if not all of those pictures have been online for a long time. I saw most of them before the BIG one hit. But because of the scandal it became a case of “OH MY GOD LOOK AT WHAT VANESSA IS DOING NOW!!!”
So as I say I don’t think Vanessa will be eager to fill that role any longer. It’s not a role that she or anyone other then parents themselves can or should fill.

Troy I agree with you on that one. To elaborate even more.. it’s just too bad that this whole role model thing is a little scary and a bit getting out of hand. I mean to say, yeah, she’s in the spotlight, yeah, she’s with disney. She’s been in a scandal recently, not her choice by the way. The thing is, what is the desparation for stars to be a role model when parents are the ones that should be, or siblings or aunts and uncles, friends. Seriously, it’s up to parents to communicate to their children what’s right and wrong and to instill morals in their children by example. After all, parents are who children see every single day, in their real world.
Please, don’t judge before thinking… really, it’s not very becoming when a person sounds so self-righteous.
In conclusion, when you see yourselves, friends or family sending naked pix on the internet, or just getting naked, maybe even getting drunk… don’t blame it on your Star role models, it’s your own decision to do that or theirs. We;re all responsible for our own actions.
I’d say Vanessa owned up to it, and lived through it unscathed.
She’s a good example of rising above.
Lisset, first, all of my post was not directed to you personally - just the first part. Sorry if that was not clear.
Second, if you watch the video of her encounter with the paparazzi at the Coffee Beanery, they were very nice to her and no one asked any rude questions unlike the video of her with Zac when they are asking about the nude photo. I would have ignored them too. As far as her staying at her boyfriend’s house, she is of age so I don’t see what the problem is. She has been dating him for over two years, her parents obviously like him and they seem to have a strong relationship. If she wanted she could move out of her parents house at any time which happens to be a few blocks away from Zac’s place. If you think 18 yr olds are not intimate with their bfs/gfs, I suggest you visit a college freshman dorm.
Third, she has been doing charity work for quite a while…that was shown when HSM became big in 2006, it is not a recent activity. As far as if she went to church, don’t know because the paparazzi didn’t follow her around then. However her religion background had been mentioned in the past so I assume she had seen the inside of a church prior to September. I personally have a deep faith in God but I only see the inside of a church maybe 3 times a year.
Finally, if you look at my post I never mention the term role model. I never thought of her as one before the incident happened. I do admire her courage for stepping up quickly and accepting the consequences. I personally think the best role models are those people that face difficulties with dignity and strength because it shows others that you can pick yourself up if you fall down. If you are never tested how can you honestly lead? I am not saying she is a role model but she could have easily wallow in her embarrassment. That is not fake, that shows strong character.
Hopefully this clears up some misunderstandings.

#203 You say aren’t a Vanessa fan and you wouldn’t know when she signed with Echo Red, but you know that she didn’t attend church before the scandal? How would you know that? I have no idea if she does or not but as far as not seeing any more pictures of her going into or coming out of church I say good the paparazzi have no business there. I don’t take it as proof that she doesn’t.
As far as the pictures with Zac go I find it fascinating that you can tell just by looking at the pictures that she doesn’t acknowledge anyone or anything. Even if that’s the case Zac is EVERY BIT AS GUILTY of it as she is so its not just her.
As far as whether or not she “abuses her influence over young kids and teenagers tremendously” boy are we going to agree to disagree on that (shocking I know). She isn’t closing clubs every night, getting arrested for DUI or possession of illegal substances or anything else. That IN MY OPINION would be tremendously abusing her influence.

She is just trying to get on with her life now and move on so i suggest that the people who are quick to judge should move on too. Apart from this photo incident she has nothing to be sorry for, she is doing what she has done in the past going to events , charity , going shopping etc. This ad campaign was booked a long time ago and she has the right to move on and learn from her mistakes. Share peace & love not hate people.

I think she looks amazing. I also think she shouldn’t have apologized for the nude pictures. She didn’t take that pictures for the world to see, they were meant to be private. Her choices regarding her sex life are nobody’s business but hers. If people want to judge her and label her as a “bad girl” or a “****” or a “bad role model” because of this it’s their problem. It’s not like she was preaching to the world that she was a virgin, so why apologize?

V certainly look gorgeous. I must say, this girl can dance, act, sing & model. Hmm, how about quadraple-treat rather than triple? haha. yeapp, she’s really beginning to lead a successful life again. Im just saying, when we thought her career is completely ruin,it didnt.She’ve got Disney,a supportive family, fantastic friends & a responsible boyf to coach her & be there for her.She deff managed to pull through. & now, just look where she stands. I don’t quite get what makes this kid stand out - maybe because of her exotic look. Kinda like Penelope Cruz. She seemed to be a the “face” for a lot of products (Loreal, Covergirl, etc.)because she looks different.I mean that in a good way. Just watch - V will follow her steps.
