OlderOrlando Bloom: Car Crash Victim
Orlando Bloom got into a car accident in Los Angeles last night around 2:15 a.m., according to TMZ.
Orlando, 30, was driving two female friends in a 2003 Toyota Matrix registered to Dariusz Wolski, the director of photography on the Pirates of the Caribbean movies. He was apparently cut off by another driver, causing him to crash into a parked Porsche Cayenne.
Riding in the backseat was celebrity stylist Cher Coulter, who suffered a laceration on her head and a fractured neck. No word on who was riding shotgun yet, but she reportedly was cut by her seat belt. Orlando seemed to walk away from the accident unscathed but paid close attention to his friends.
Mr. Bloom got into the accident 15 minutes after leaving “Green Door” nightclub in Hollywood. He was reportedly not driving under the influence.
UPDATE: Orly’s rep just released a statement: “Orlando Bloom, who was in a minor car collision late last night, is grateful that no one was seriously injured. Bloom called for help immediately following the incident. He spent last night at the hospital to be with his childhood friend who sustained a minor neck injury. He is thankful that emergency services arrived so quickly and that the ER staff at Cedars Sinai took such good care of his friend.”

TMZ changed their story, eariler they reported that Orlando jumped into a guy’s car and argued over his wife, now their saying the female said it was an ex-boyfriend.

PingyPonga, at first it was a female who was driving, she was the brunette in one of the videos on TMZ. Then midway, Orlando changed places with the driver - so he was the one driving when they got into the accident. The blonde, who was bleeding quite a bit, was in the backseat and the brunette was in the front seat. The police said that Orlando wasn’t intoxicated but I honestly believe that he was high on something because his behavior before he got into the car and his behavior after the crash was just very odd.

Apparently all of you should consider yourself very fortunate. You have obviously never experienced any kind of trauma that would cause the onset of shock, or you would consider the possibility that he was walking away for that reason. He may have been pretty out of it and was trying to get his head together. And I don’t believe for a minute that the pap was calling him back out of the goodness of his heart. He was creating drama in order to make the video more valuable. The vultures were probably upset that nobody died.
I forgot to say that not only was the blonde hurt, but the brunette was injured too, I think her neck was fractured but I’m not 100% sure if that really was her injury. But the woman with the blonde hair was bleeding really badly…

There’s no excuse for his behavior, NONE! Any person in their right mind who sees someone bleeding and hurt would never JUST walk away! His first thought should of been to call for help, not to leave. I feel the paparazzi was concerned for Orlando, could you imagine what kind of trouble Orlando COULD of gotten in, if he was charged with a hit and run? My opinion is that the paparazzi saved Orlando a buttload of trouble!

Very true. Isn’t it interesting that THE PAPS said dont walk away or you will be charged with hit and run? That created a story in itself. Like they are suddenly so caring about the people the hound relentlessly. New reports say he was tested and drugs and alcohol have been ruled out.

#22, fat guy - you are so right. I’ve been in a car accident and you are dazed even if you’re not injured. And you can’t even trust the videos - the one at X-17 is edited, BTW. Why is it that every time someone in Hollywood is in a wreck, they HAVE to be drunk? And he wasn’t acting strangely, he seemed very calm to me. And I’d be willing to bet that the paps CAUSED the damned accident - on X-17’s video, you can even hear one of the paps say so! (Why else where they all there RIGHT after it happened?) They’ve blocked him off before, and blocking off or cutting off their victim’s car is their standard M.O. (And sorry to report this, but he passed the alcohol and drug screening at the hospital.)

Most of the reports from the Papz at the scene say Orlando tried to leave the scene of the crash and offered no assistance to the injured women. He was persuaded to return to the scene because of the serious consequences if he did leave, ie, hit and run.
As for the cut off… papz following didn’t see that. They saw Orlie ram the parked Porsche, however.
Police didn’t test Orlie at the scene of the crash for alcohol or drugs. why?

Why walk away. There was not a need for privacy to make the call since obviously the paps knew what the situation was anyway. The only call that needed to be made was a 911 call and anyone could have made that.

#28, if you saw the video on TMZ, there was a video of him (before the accident) arguing with some dude in a car and it did seem like he was drunk or high. You could tell something was odd about him, if you actually looked at the video. From what I’ve read somewhere, he was trying to holler at some girl and was arguing with the girl’s boyfriend or husband.
The only reason I said that he was acting odd because of the way he was acting in that video before the accident. I’m not saying he was drunk, but he appeared kind of high. I see a lot of guys like that after a night out with friends. A lot of them are high on something and they always act belligerent like they wanna fight someone and they always try to get into an argument - doesn’t matter what its about or how trivial the matter is, they don’t realize what they’re doing cuz they’re high (or drunk) and don’t give a care in the world with how stupid they act or sound, during the argument
this happened outside my friends place and she said the he wasn’t the one driving!
The videos that are out there conveniently start in the middle of the action both times. We don’t see what prompted Orlando to speak to that guy in the car, and we didn’t see the actual wreck or the Orlando getting out of the car. He could have been trying to get the paparazzi away from the accident, he could have been walking to get help, he could have just been dazed and not thinking clearly. The girl in the car that wasn’t seriously injured didn’t seem to be upset that Orlando had walked away from the car.
Also, in one of the videos you can hear a guy talking in the background saying he’s a witness and the paps caused the wreck.
Scalp lacerations often look worse than they really are - they bleed a hell of a lot as a natural defence mechanism…the skull protects the brain, so the body bleeds extra to signal the extra danger. I saw the TMZ video, Orli WAS acting v. v strangely & he had at least two females calling him repeatedly & telling him to stop what he was doing and basically calm down. He looks like a complete idiot overall & this isn’t the first time he’s been involved in a vehicular accident.

I remember he hit a motorcyclist in London because he was changing lanes and didn’t see the motorcyclist and didn’t signal. He offered the cyclist an autograph as consolation. What a douche!
First of all in the video b4 the accident Orlando is trying to calm down the boyfriend of a girl he tried to pick-up not knowing she had a boyfriend there, if you listen you can hear him say to her “Why didn’t you tell me you had a boyfriend ?” It all ends well for them.
If you look at his face after the accident he is totally in shock and not sure what to do when he finally gets it all together again he calls for help and never leaves the side of either of the injured women. So I hope we get our stories straight before we trash him.
One more thing as you have read on some of the posts witnesses have said Orlando was not driving at the time of the accident now whether that was true or not we really don’t know what we do know is that all of his blood test were negative for anything at all so lets all stop jumping to ridiculous conclusions.

I had an accident pretty much of the same caliber two years ago. The guy the hit me wasn’t drunk either and was acting strangely. No one knows the story and this all seems to be a case of everyone believing the paparazzi who are the ones who caused him to wreck in the first place. Need I remind all of you people that they’ve done this crap before? Princess Diana anyone? Get your facts straight before you go around and start calling him an idiot. Sheesh, he’s a human being who reacted in an instinctual way, not thinking logically about the consequences. Just because he walked off, doesn’t mean he didn’t care about his friend since he demanded to ride in the ambulence with her and spent the entire night at the ER with me. Iris the police department released that information very quickly they said they took blood tests at the hospital and everything was negative-no alcohol no drugs. I will say that the LAPD would have loved to have found something on him since they recently have gotten very tough on celebrities.
So can we all just get over it? It was a horrible accident caused again by the papparazzi trying to get pictures.

Paparazzi can and DO cause accidents with their celebrity targets. Celebrities can and DO contribute to the problem sometimes. The public contributes by purchasing the tabloids and hitting the sites that get these stories, photos and videos. I’m not pointing fingers. I just think there’s enough personal responsibility to go around in situations such as these.
You CANNOT judge his actions after the crash. Shock would have set in and after such a traumatic event, people don’t act normal. They are confused, disoriented, and sometimes don’t even remember what just happened.
None of us can actually say what really went on that night because none of us were there. Pap videos are nothing to go by because they manipulate the situation, trying to make a juicier story. My belief is that Orlando wasn’t walking away from the car crash (do you really think he’s that stupid to try to flee a scene with that many people standing around?) but he was trying to collect himself and process and understand what just occured.
Just because he got in a car accident, doesn’t mean he was drunk or high. Police have confirmed he wasn’t. Can we just drop that now?

Why would he flee the scene? It’s not like people wouldn’t know he was there with a whole pack of paps snapping pictures and videotaping him.Running away would serve no purpose.
I’m sure the police and the medics would notice if he was drunk or high. They see it often enough, unfortunately.

And on that pap website, their “eyewitness” openly admits that they didn’t see the accident because they were the fourth car back. Four cars!! At least? Plus the one that cut him off? It’s a miracle that no one was seriously hurt.
And the cops didn’t test him on the scene, because they saw no evidence of inebriation. If they had, they would have given him one, on the spot. The cop in the pics in very close while speaking with Orlando. If there was alcohol on his breath, he would have caught it. Celebs don’t get away with drunk driving anymore. Reuters has reported that he tested clean for alcohol and drugs, so they must have given him a blood test at the hospital. He was never arrested, so he must have volunteered to take the test. To me, that is a good sign that he was innocent.

Bottom line, Joanie, is that the video taped material makes him look bad. The fact that he actually had to be told by paparazzi what his moral and ethical (and legal) obligations are in that type of situation says more about Orlando Bloom than it does about them!

The paps were a part of the situation, but they didn’t cause Orlando to behave strangely, to get drunk, or take drugs, or make a pass at another man’s woman, or get into his car and get into his face about what happened in the club. Bloom has to accept responsibility for his role in this whole situation. Celebs can’t blame the paps for everything.
Bloom chose to do certain things and to be where he was a given point in time. Paps will chase a celeb and video tape him or her probably once they’ve stopped moving in their own vehicles. Bloom should have insisted on taking a cab, or having a Designated Driver. He also could have - and should have - made the 911 call right then and there.

People involved in accidents usually lose all conscious train of thought and do some pretty irrational things. Since he’s been in a couple of serious ones before (breaking his back), then I wouldn’t be surprised if the first thing he wanted to do was get away and pull himself together for a couple of minutes.
Plus, don’t you think Bloom would be aware how stupid it’d look for his rep if his intentions were to run from the scene, while the paps were filming this and there were several witnesses? We haven’t heard from the pap who supposedly caused the crash…ironic. Wonder who’s the Hit ‘n’ Run driver now?
LAPD confirmed he didn’t look strung out… the cop he was talking to was close enough to see IF he had a problem. And why would a celebrity (who happens to be less popular in the US)have these so called “privileges” when Paris Hilton, Lindsay, Nicole Richie, Kiefer Sutherland, Mel Gibson DIDN’T?

TMZ’s obviously worked up about getting all the blame. Look at all the stories they’ve made up to cover their a**es and distract people from the actual situation in hand. But of course at the end of the day the most notoriously scummy paparazzi and a Perez Hilton blogger are more believable than the LAPD (*rolls eyes*).
If Orlando doesn’t feel that he’s been treated fairly, or if he feels that he’s been set up by the paps, he can have his day in court. The investigation is apparently ongoing. Bloom probably isn’t going anywhere for a while, not until this is settled one way or another. The paps ARE a problem, but Orlando being out and possibly partying till the wee hours of the morning, and getting into confrontations outside bars and nightclubs isn’t going to help his cause in this type of situation. If Bloom has anything more he wishes to say, he can say it. Or, he can remain silent. The choice is his. If the police didn’t follow correct procedure, then they goofed up. That makes the LAPD look bad. For the future, Orlando should avoid the places where paparazzi are known to hang out - if he wants to avoid further stress and aggravation. It’s just not worth it.

Don’t the LAPD only give the breathilizer and things IF they think it’s required. Obviously in this case they don’t, or he had them fooled pretty well, and it’s not hard spotting a drunk!
TMZ (who continue NOT giving the story up), say LAPD are still investigating Orlando for “hit and run” charges, but every other source (IMHO also more legit ones), say the LAPD have kept Bloom out of this case and are just looking for the white-pap SUV that disappeared from the scene.
Agree he should avoid places with lots of paps…it’d suck to be a celeb and not be able to party casually with my friends and be normal for once, without worrying about every move being scutinized or twisted out of proportion the next day. At the end money can’t buy you happiness.
