Angelina Jolie: Outstanding Performance of the Year

Academy Award and three-time Golden Globe winner Angelina Jolie will receive the Outstanding Performance of the Year Award for her performance in A Mighty Heart at The Santa Barbara International Film Festival early next year.

“We are honored to celebrate Ms. Jolie in what is arguably one of the most extraordinary female roles of the year,” said Festival executive director Roger Durling.

Angie will be honored on Feb. 2, 2008, the second-to-last day of the festival, which begins on Jan. 24, 2008.

Kate Winslet, Heath Ledger, and Helen Mirren have received this award in previous years.

Aren’t we a day late and a dollar short? The movie has been out since June, and I don’t remember picket lines outside the movie theatre while it was showing.

Definitely, the only way she’s getting nominated for an oscar is if she has a good campaign or if she shags the Academy Members.

The casting of Angelina Jolie as the mixed-race wife of late journalist Daniel Pearl in A Mighty Heart has been heavily criticised by black rights groups. Make-up artists are believed to have used special cosmetics to darken the star’s skin to match that of Mariane Pearl - but campaigners believe a real-life mixed-race actress should have been given the part.

That’s so sad to abuse the casting process because your lover is the producer OMG! No artistic integrity!!

Congrats, Angie! With her understanding of the turmoil in Pakistan, her friendship with Mariane, and her incredible acting talent, only Angie could do justice to that role, which is why Mariane Pearl chose her for the part!

#13 Give me abreak. Even Marianne Pearl was disgusted at people trying to make this a racial issue. She is the one who chose Angie to play her so grow up and get over it. Go see the movie and judge for yourself. That is what I did as a Black American before I judged and listened to all the negative press.
If it is just that you dislike Angie well then better stay home because she is wonderful in this movie and you will not be able to walk away and not feel that this was a great performance. CONGRATULATIONS to our Angie and to her family. Another award for them to enjoy together.
One more thing since I am on tonight. The school Maddox attends is designed for foreign dignitaries and people like Brad and Angie who are required to travel in their work. Madd has friends. They are his family.

AJ gave an amazing performance. She has garnered critical praise for her work and has the approval of M. Pearl. Enough said.
