Ricky Martin Gets “Hollywood Walk of Fame” Star
Ricky Martin lays himself down alongside his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame on Tuesday in Hollywood, Calif.
Johnny Grant, the Honorary Mayor of Hollywood, congratulated Ricky on selling 55 million records worldwide. Ricky is the 2351st person to get one — how special!

whether he’s gay or not…who cares? does that have anything to do with getting the star????
indeed, he’s a great entertainer, his music is great, very talented artist…more than what we can say of many Hollywood “idols” who are really worth nothing…and more important than anything else, he is just a beautiful person, he is really making a difference in many people’s lives…especially those who need it the most and cannot defend themselves
HOW the hell this happen? Has he released something since ” Living La Vida LOCA?” He must of bought this STAR!
Contrary to some’s belief Ricky has maintained a successful music career since “Livin La Vida Loca”. His albums have been on the top of the Latin charts ever since. In addition, his work for victims of sex slavery, prostitution and trafficking is to be commended. Not a pretty subject, most celebrities wouldn’t touch it with a 10-ft pole. One of my good friends knows him well and he is as generous in person as he is in the public eye. I definitely think his 23-year spanning career and charity work merit a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Way to go Ricky!

Charity work does not warrant a star. Does anyone even care about these anymore? They hand out so many a year it’s no longer a big deal. Vince McMahon is said to be getting on next year! And George Harrison doesn’t even have one yet. None of this makes sense.

Thanks girl, I was about to say something like that, I’ve seen him dancing and singing on TV since the MENUDOS, a young boyband he used to be part of.
I’m not the biggest fan of his music, but the guy has grown a lot in terms of being a good human being, to me right now in this crazy world, it’s all that matters…
‘One hit album’-wonder gets a star? I thought it was given to achievements in the US, not in Asia, Europe or Latin America.
His hit album sold 7 million in the US, second album 1.6 million and so on downhill, latest one a few hundred thousands. Being in top of the Latin charts doesn’t mean much when it comes to sales, platinum sales is like 200,000 copies. I think there is more deserving singers, really.
His so called charity work seems to be the best career move he has done, it paid him well in publicity and media attention. Having a foundation isn’t anything special among celebs, almost all do some kind of charity, they just don’t brag about it.

darling he doesn’t brag about it, he hardly talks about it! he’s been once on Oprah and you hear about his work more on CNN or other news channels than in the magazines or papers.
most celebrities either give money or turn up to a glitzy “charity event” once or twice. The guy actually goes to meetings at unicef and he travels to the poorest countries to see the harsh realities of children slavery himself, so shut up.
