Ryan Gosling addresses his break-up with Rachel McAdams in the November 2007 issue of GQ Magazine:
—- “I mean, God bless The Notebook,” Gosling says. “It introduced me to one of the great loves of my life. But people do Rachel and me a disservice by assuming we were anything like the people in that movie. Rachel and my love story is a hell of a lot more romantic than that.”
They broke up, is the thing. It’s been a few months. Gosling says it wasn’t the attention that did it, but other than that he doesn’t really know what to say. “The only thing I remember is we both went down swingin’ and we called it a draw,” he says.
The Notebook people have taken it harder. “Women are mad at me,” Gosling says with a rueful smile. “A girl came up to me on the street and she almost smacked me. Like, ‘How could you? How could you let a girl like that go?’ I feel like I want to give people hugs, they seem so sad. Rachel and I should be the ones getting hugs! Instead, we’re consoling everybody else.” —-

He’s a GREAT young actor; his emotions are amazing onscreen! I just don’t understand the nasty comments about his looks….why would we want everyone to look like a pretty boy?? Yuk. I think he looks great…..handsome and manly!

There is just something about him. He’s sexy in a subtle way. Yes, he’s not classically beautiful, but then I generally find classically beautiful bland and uninteresting. It’s pretty to look at for a little while, but then you realize it’s all just symmetry. Obviously there is something under the surface with this guy. He seems genuine. And THAT’S attractive.
Sad to hear that Rachel & Ryan broke up, but that’s life and I wish them lots and lots of happiness no matter who they end up with =) Ryan is a great actor, and very cute guy. There is just something about him that I can’t put my finger on and it makes him so appealing. He is from my hometown Toronto and I used to watch him on TV in this Canadian teen show called Breaker High. I had a crush on him way back then LOL.

YOU SAID IT!! LIke Nicolas Cage, especially when he was this guy’s age. A face with character and intelligence — so interesting.
The things this man, and I mean MAN wholeheartedly, is saying about his ex shows what a classy guy he is. Wow. No blaming, no regrets, total respect for the woman he was with,it just wasn’t meant to last. And wanting to comfort others for their breakup instead of resentful that he has fans who care? This is a man who is destined to be a big star. He totally GETS it, that his emoting onscreen affects people and that’s the goal. Not box office or fame, but affecting people.
He sounds so much more mature than most of the people his age!

I always thought that Blind Item was about Joaquin Phoenix. Though, Lainey’s credibilty is shot to hell because of this very story. Months after every other outlet said that Ryan/Rachel was over she claimed they were not, so much for her slam dunk sources. She looks completely stupid and I now take anything she writes with a grain of salt.
