High School Musical starlet Vanessa Hudgens has not signed a $1 million contract with shoe giant Skechers, reps for both Vanessa and Skechers tell JustJared.com. Maybe next year!
And to make matters worse, OK! is exclusively reporting that Disney will not be asking Vanessa, 18, to join the feature film High School Musical 3.
At fault? The nude photo scandal.
“Disney finally decided that they don’t want her back,” says an insider. “They feel that as long as Zac Efron is in the movie, all will be fine. He’s the real star – the household name – and, most importantly, he comes without baggage.”
Who supposedly will replace Vanessa? Cheetah Girls Adrienne Baillon or DWTS‘ Sabrina Bryan (both 23).
Says OK!’s source: “The producers think that after Dancing With the Stars, Sabrina will be more famous than Vanessa.”

First let me say this is just is another hooey of from Okay Magazine. Just a couple of weeks ago they were reporting that everything was hunky-dory and cameras on “High School Musical 3″ were set to start rolling in January. Now they are reporting that after issuing statements that “Vanessa has apologized for an obvious lapse in judgement and we hope she has learned her lesson,” and giving every indication they accept that apology they are JUST now deciding the scandal which has died down by the way is something they can’t overlook? Why? What’s changed? Nothing that’s what. If they had made a move like this IMMEDIATELY after the photo was leaked, I could understand it. But a month later? No huh-uh. This doesn’t make a lick of sense.
Besides it was reported in TV Guide a week after the story broke that Disney was carefully monitoring public response via e-mails and callers to Radio Disney and it was mostly supportive of Vanessa. So I say again if this nonsense is true-which I don’t belive for a minute that it is-what’s changed?

The worst message that Disney (or anyone else, for that matter) could send to today’s youth is that making poor decisions makes you an unacceptable person. Life is not only about the decisions we make - good or bad - it’s about the way we handle the consequences of those decisions. Both Zac and Vanessa have handled themselves extremely well in spite of the intense pressure this has caused them and I could only hope that I would be able to do as well in the same situation.
Iis disturbing to sit back and watch the world go crazy in speculation of what may or may not be happening with Zac and Vanessa. By refusing to comment about the photos (which are so over, anyway) and their relationship, they have set themselves apart from the rest and left the gossip media outlets in a frenzy - they don’t have anything real to “report”, so they make things up on an hourly basis (and never miss a beat when the things they report are proven untrue.) It is sad that this is acceptable in our world and this is a very poor set of standards that our children are being exposed to.
Just in case Disney is watching, I would not pay to see HSM3 in the theatres if V isn’t in it - I would probably allow my daughter to watch it on TV if she wanted to because I wouldn’t want to punish her for someone else’s mistake, but I would not support any outlet that discards a child for being a child.
Today’s kids need to learn that there is a huge difference between youthful indescretion and reckless behavior - and the expreme contrast is easy to see if you compare Miss Hudgens to Britny Spears and Lindsay Lohan (and I mean really compare by looking at the photos and sorting through the stories to sort fact from fiction.) So far, my 9-year old daughter has no idea that any of this is going on, but if she does find out and asks me about it, I will use this situation as a teaching tool to help her make good decisions and to help her deal with the ones that turn out to be not so good after all.

If this questionable info is true, I doubt they would have someone play Gabriella role since that could be confusing for a young audience. They would probably transfer her out (i.e. mom’s job)…it was reported that Disney wanted to add new characters so they could continue the franchise beyond the original cast.
I am not saying Zac or anyone else should drop out of the project. They do have their own careers to handle. However, if this is true I don’t think Disney realizes that a lot of the appeal of the movie is the relationship between Zac/Troy and Vanessa/Gabriella. Let’s not mention the bond we see with the entire cast - they are real friends.

I agree with what most of you are saying. HSM3 would certainly flop without Vanessa. I mean if they replace Gabriela’s character, the fanbase for her will protest. Zac Efron is a 19 year old man who is perfectly capable of deciding who wants to date he apparently wants to date Vanessa Hudgens grow up and get over it. Remember, eliminating Vanessa alienates a LARGE fans base for Disney(hers and Zanessa fans). Whether or not Zac would do the film without her would be an issue for them also because he and Disney would have to deal with the backlash of him appearing unsupportive. I don’t what all the knee-jerk reaction is all about with the finger-pointing and bad-mouthing Disney.
OK magazine has a bad reputation for getting things wrong almost ALL the time. Check their track record, especially with Brad and Angie, Brad and the X getting back together, and of course Zac and Vanessa. I could go on.
Disney hasn’t come out with press yet. Why should we even believe anything that comes out of OK’s pie hole. They are based out where, the other side of the pond? And what contact do they have with Disney, except maybe a low-level, no-level intern/plant?
Disney knows that Vanessa has more supporters than detractors. And that a High School Musical feature film without the original stars is going to be a wash. Disney people know what they’re doing. They’ve been around since the 30’s. They’re not the entertainment juggernaut that they are today without ******** things up along the way, and learning how to fix things. They understand how the public thinks. Just because something on the surface seems right: get rid of Vanessa for the sake of the image.
Disney also knows that there is an under current that works with the American psyche: and that is to forgive mistakes, and not to kick a young person when they’re down.
Americans side with the under dog. And right now Vanessa is the under dog. For a while she looked like she was down for the count. But her fans, and most of the public sought to forgive her, and gave her another chance.
Disney will swallow the bitter pill and keep Gabriella. And if they don’t then they’re making a grave error. But my money is on Disney to keep this franchise going a little bit longer, and they’ll reinstate Vanessa in the role that made a her a star, and made Disney a big pile of dough.

Disney is not going to mess with a winning formula unless it is absolutely necessary - in this case, it is not. First and foremost, it is a business and you do not mess with the bottom line. HSM 1 & 2 were successful and Disney wants to keep the ball rolling. Removing one of the MAIN characters is a huge gamble that I don’t think they would be willing to take.

No way, I don’t really believe OK Mag! but if it’s true then HSM will be done with, it won’t even become half of the success it is today, weather you like V as Gabi or not, I mean, do you think that the bonds that the actors and characters share will be the same, no, they would have to start over and it would be so bad.
Besides, V is the only one of the girls that can sing amazingly both alone and with other, I mean, her voice blends perfect together with Zac’s, Corbin’s and Lucas, non of the others does, and it’s kind of funny that whenever she sings, her voice is stronger and louder then the others, so you can always hear when she sings.
On other note, I’m Swedish and Vanessa is huge over here, but I have no idea who any of those other two are.

I hope that’s not true! I’m a suburban(Roseville, CA) mother of two young boys and will not take my children to see HSM3 if Vanessa doesn’t get the role. I know plenty of other moms who feel the same way. Vanessa is an ACTRESS for God’s sake. There are a lot of well known actresses who have gone nude for their craft, the difference is she wasn’t paid for it and did the pictures in private. Disney Corp. and Kenny Ortega should wake up and smell all the $$$ they will be LOSING by not casting her. She’s their cash cow too! GOOD LUCK TO YOU VANESSA IN WHATEVER YOU DO:)
