#56: Yeah, Alex. I’m glad too. That is so scary. She said they had just parked their car in the lot when the explosion happened. They were on their way in to the mall. She had her husband and 2 kids with her. Her husband is a police officer so he had to help out while she had to get the kids out of there. They saw the carnage. The explosion was so loud that it set off the alarms in the parked cars.

She and her family were very lucky.

If you look at a number of their pixs you will see the same faces popping up. The big tall guy in the first pix where Angie is not made up and seems to be exiting their suv is also a BG. He was in the pixs with Angie and Brad on the set on Wednesday. There seems to be an increase in BGs lately.

All of the clothes Angie is wearing in this film so far are so loose fitting. I do like them and the shoes are really cute, at least to me. Angie seems to be enjoying working with ClintE. Next week they film in a train station somewhere else in the LA area. There may be fewer pixs. Hope Angie and Brad go together Monday nite to the Hwood awards.

Clint Eastwood obviously WANTED Angelina to play the role. he could have picked Hilary Swank, he could have picked any number of other actresses for this juicy plum role with OSCAR WRITTEN all over it. It’s targetted for release in November 2008.

Boy, the Jolie/Voight/Haven clan sure like to bring up old anger at least once every few months. It seems to be a seasonal ritual with them. While Angelina doesn’t talk about her father Jon Voight very much, John Voight sure does a lot of talking about Angelina. And why not? She’s a big star and he hasn’t done much of anything lately. If he wants to get into the papers, I can’t imagine a better way to do it that by talking about all their old issues and old hurt and how life sucks for him because Angelina and brother James Haven just can’t get over the fact that their dad was a complete jerk to them growing up. It really annoys me when someone treats someone else like crap, and then gets mad at the person for not getting over being treated like crap. Kind of like, “I should be able to do whatever the hell I want to you, and you should just deal with it and not make me feel badly as a result.” It’s from the Jon Voight school of psychology.

“After son James Haven’s accusations of ‘mental abuse’ in a recent magazine article, Jon Voight is speaking out. The 68-year-old actor, who is also Angelina Jolie’s dad, tells Usmagazine.com in a statement:

Yep, you continuously send them your heart and love, unless whatever they need from you is to take some lasting, permanent responsibility for your behavior and truly do what it takes to make amends. But as long as what they want from you is facile and superficial, you’re totally there for them. And if you can talk to a bunch of gossip magazines about how mean your kids are to you in your old age, all the better, right? Remember that time when Voight (apparently intentionally) referred to Zahara as Shakira to the press? Very grownup and mature, it sounds like you’re a great person and would make a fabulous grandfather Jon Voight. I think Angelina is probably moving on, focusing on making a happy family, and doing whatever it takes to make sure they don’t have to deal with you like she did. So it sounds like the problem is more that your kids don’t need you, and that bugs you.

Ive been a huge fan of this couple since their inception. Lately, after seeing Maddox pulled out of his NY school, it makes me sad that they aren’t (or won’t) sacrifice their careers so these children can have a stable base called home.

“Stable home” consists of the constant presence of the same adults who care for the kids. (the “anti” example would be Britney’s kids) Yes, childhood friends are important too, but their kids are learning the precious life-skill of learning to adapt to any situation anywhere they go, quickly. Maddox will grow up to be a person with ease at any situation with any body around him. The school Maddox is in (and likely all the Jolie-Pitt kids will be), Lycee Francais follows the French curriculum, so any Lycee anywhere in the world Maddox hops in, he doesn’t miss a beat. It’s quite smart on their part to choose this school for their kids actually.

What the four high school students did started out simply enough: collaborate on a National History Day project to write a short play about an event from the past. What they accomplished when it was all said and done has been stunning: discover, research and introduce to the world an unsung Polish heroine of the Holocaust, a woman who daringly saved some 2,500 Jewish children from the Warsaw ghetto yet remained virtually unknown to historians and the public for more than 60 years.

“It’s a little mind-boggling,” said Megan Stewart-Felt, 22, one of the students. “Some days I almost can’t believe this wonderful journey we’ve been on.”

Fast forward to today.

With the help of a Jewish organization familiar with Sendler, the students tracked down the Polish woman, residing in a nursing home in Warsaw. They forged a deep friendship with her, made multiple trips to Poland to interview her and those she had saved, and accumulated the world’s most extensive clearinghouse of research and artifacts of her life and her contribution to history.

A peace prize nomination
And just this month, 97-year-old Sendler, a woman once virtually anonymous to the world, was in the news as a nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, a fact that can almost entirely be attributed to four small-town students who were so inspired by her story that it has come to define their lives, even after they have graduated from high school and college, married and begun families of their own.

“Think of it,” said Norm Conard, their former social studies teacher. “You have some rural Protestant kids from a tiny place in Kansas who decide to tackle the story of a Polish Catholic woman who saved thousands of Jews, despite the fact that they were raised in a place where there is virtually no one of Jewish ancestry. It makes absolutely no sense that Irena’s story would end up getting told like this.”

And yet it makes perfect sense.

‘Life in a Jar’
The students began corresponding with Sendler and finished their play about her life. They called it “Life in a Jar,” because of one of the most dramatic facts about the Polish woman: She had buried detailed lists of the ancestry and whereabouts of each child she rescued in glass jars under an apple tree in a friend’s Warsaw yard. (When Sendler was later caught by the Nazis, she refused to reveal the location of those jars even under torture and threat of execution.)

“Those jars were literally jars of life,” Stewart-Felt said, explaining that Sendler placed the children she rescued in the homes of non-Jewish Poles, in Catholic convents and in orphanages.

Almost every letter Sendler sent the young Kansas women—today there have been dozens translated from Polish to English—began the same way: “My dear, beloved girls so close to my heart.” Sendler wrote of all the ways she had spirited children out of the Warsaw ghetto after gaining entrance as a city social worker and persuading their soon-to-die parents to give them up. In some cases she would sedate crying infants and sneak them out of the ghetto in medical bags or carpenter’s boxes.

The students soon sent Sendler a draft of their play. She critiqued it for them, requesting two minor changes, but said they had gotten virtually everything else right.

“I need to tell you,” she wrote, “that you are uniquely wise, interesting and thinking girls full of sensitivity to troubling wars.” Sendler explained that her parents had once taught her she was ethically bound to help a drowning person even if she could not swim herself.

Still performing the play
In early 2000, the students performed “Life in a Jar” for the first time. People in the small Kansas crowd were sobbing by the end. Since then, even as the young women graduated, married and began careers, they have continued to travel with the play, performing it in 20 states and three countries. A handful of other young men and women also have joined the show to round out the cast. The play has been translated into Polish and now is performed by schoolchildren in Poland as well.

This spring, “Life in a Jar” traveled to Canada at the request of Montreal resident Renata Zajdman, who at age 14 was rescued from the Warsaw ghetto by one of a small network of rescuers who reported to Sendler. Zajdman, today a close friend of Sendler’s, was there the first time she met the Kansas students.

“The credit all goes to those kids in Kansas,” said Zajdman, 78. “If it were not for them, Irena would still be living in poverty. The president of Poland would not be kissing her hand. No one would bother with her. The children of Kansas put her on the map.”

The Nobel nomination seems to be only the beginning of the world’s growing recognition of Sendler. Angelina Jolie reportedly is taking the role of Sendler in an upcoming movie.

Went for TAOJJ Premiere last night and yet Brad and CA were not there. They cancelled their apperances (maybe cos angie was filming). I’m grounded for a week, i came home at 11pm cos the premiere started at 8:30pm. All i saw was a woman called Robin and the director, that’s it!!! Sad isn’t it?? lol

I never thought Brad was going to go the JJ premeire in the UK. I always thought it was either speculaton by that festivl or promotion knowing he would not be there in order to get more people to go.

Thanks for the new thread Just Jared. AJ looks great. People should really worry about their own children. The Jolie-Pitts children have two loving and devoted parents whereever they travel. You never know what is going on in a so called “stable” home. There are enough kids building bombs, making threats on the internet and arming themselves with weapons as it is in this country.

The Jolie-Pitts are contributing greatly to society and making worthwile projects. Maddox is getting a world class education with travel and lifelong friends. It is so easy to live a narrow, confined existence. However, I would rather travel, see the world and experience different cultures. Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh are blessed to have BP and AJ as parents. BP and AJ are blessed to have them as children. There are enough abusive parents in “stable” homes that do not care for their children or see to their welfare. That is why social services and child protective service are big business in America and elsewhere. Worry about your own family and let BP and AJ raise their children the way they see fit. If people take care of their own the world would be a better place. I wish BAMPZS all the best. Peace to all.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston always bring up their kids too. Especially their perfect daughter(not so much the son) We even were told that John and Kelly..in their advanced ages, were going to be trying for baby #3 after the summer. No word so far on how that is going. But I am sure once their new movie comes out(starring their daughter) we will be brought up to date on the progress.

The point is…Celebs are like you and me, they are proud of their kids and talk about them..and people are interested in celeb kids these days more than ever so interviewers are asking about them more and more(celeb baby pics are a booming business for paps)

Clint Eastwood obviously WANTED Angelina to play the role. he could have picked Hilary Swank, he could have picked any number of other actresses for this juicy plum role with OSCAR WRITTEN all over it. It’s targetted for release in November 2008.

If Angelina doesn’t get an Oscar for the 08 AMH, I think she’ll have another stab at it in the 09 Oscar for the Changeling.

I have to wonder how much of his childhood was affected not just by the moves (not nearly as many as some army brats) but also by the fact that his parents were divorced when he was 2, then his mother remarried and divorced 2 more times before he turned 16?? And of course, before each divorce, would be the acrimony, the coldness, may be the blaming.

Geographic stability is of course important but more important that geographic stability is a familial stability. Traditional Nomads move, from place to place. Sometimes they visit the same places each year, sometimes they don’t. What remains very stable for many traditional nomadic families is the family structure and culture.

Brad and Angelina, provide the core stability and support. Their nanny and personal assistants and regular Bodyguards provide something resembling the extended family similar to what I grew up with. Brad and Angelina visit the same places over and over again - be it Missouri to see Grandma and Grandpa and cousins or NY to visit friends or have friends come over to see them like Adam and Mariane or LA or NO. This means that for the child, they know that certain relationships do get renewed and reinvested.

As an expat living in an expat community, we live far from an already far flung family. Our friends also frequently leave our lives - a lot be it on on home leave, and sometimes move away to another country for good. But we always make an effort to travel to meet with our friends and family who also make an effort to travel to meet us. My child knows, friends and family may go but can reconnect and the threads of friendship aren’t broken, just temporarily put down. so far, it has been fine. Oh now poor Keanu is in the middle of this. He has always been a sad soul. He has made comments that during his childhood it was always just he and his sister Kim. A lack of a father probably did not help much, but I did not have a father around and I’m ok. It just depends on each child. A child does not have to attend one permanent school to get a good education. It may make it difficult for the child to make life long friends, but as someone pointed out they have siblings to rely on and connect with. Honestly the only two celebrity kids that may have it rough are Brits kids and I really hope she gets the help she needs for their sakes. There are kids out there that are physically and sexually abused that do need our attention, but Maddox, Zarhara, Pax, Shiloh and Suri are gonna be just fine.

I know IMBD is not always correct, and I didn’t want to post it here, if your interested take a look at this mans body of work! Not only actor or director. But composer, producer, yeah big Clint fan and so proud he see’s what a wonderful actress Angie is! Funny Brad is doing things “out of the box” I think he will be the next Clint! While of course I enjoyed Legends and Troy, he knew he had to move past those type of roles. Fight Club, perfect example! From what I hear *sniff* AOJJ. He started spreading his wings and I think in the future he will be the director, actor, producer HW clammers to work with! JMHO

Angelina is very lucky to be working with - The “Clint Eastwood” but it wasn’t Clint who hired her, it was Ron Howard who took pity on her since her last movie “A Mighty Heart” bombed!

Clint has a lot more power in HW than Ron. If he didn’t want her in his movie it wouldn’t of happened! And if Ron did hire her, guess what, he’s very well respected also! These movies cost millions, nobody is going to cast somebody because they feel sorry for them. HW is not that kind, HW does look at the quality of performance though, so both Clint and Ron KNOW Angie is bringing true talent to the table!

OMG…..the headline “Angelina Jolie Fetches the Newspaper” that must have been a real big stretch for her to make that headline. Was there a fear that she may not be able to do it? Perhaps she would have fallen while trying to pick up the newspaper, perhaps after a few drinks? Perhaps no one actually thought she could really do it. How many takes before it was done right? Did they practice the day before to get it right since “A Mighty Heart” has bombed? Or maybe she didn’t really want to fetch the newspaper until there were more negotiations!! Saying you want to have more kids at some point or sharing anecdotal stories about your kids (i.e. spilling food on you or having family sleep nights) is one thing. As someone else stated, ALL celebs with children do it. Having people tell you HOW the inner workings of your familial dynamic is supposed to work is another. Right, wrong, or indifferent these particular parents choose to keep their unit together versus have one stay at a ‘home base’ with the kids. That’s their right certainly. The reality is no guarantees exist with raising children. They could be in one place consistently and still have them grow up to stray off the path or have some type of dysfunction. As a parent you have to go with your gut and feeling of what you think is right. As long as the kids are loved, taken care of, and seemingly adjusted it isn’t anyone’s business the method by which that occurs. Sure opinions can be had…that’s life. But that’s where it stops. Your opinion.

While other examples exist, one other parent combo that have a similar set up as the Jolie Pitts are Will and Jada Smith. Both follow each other from film project to film project and their two youngest children are in tow (9 and 6). The only difference with them is they choose to home school their kids. Their oldest son is in LA during the school year as he is in high school and would rather go to school/be with friends etc.

By all accounts, the JP kids seem to be fairly adjusted, normal, and happy. In the end, that is what’s most important.

Why should there be any cricitism from anybody, after all,it is his and Angie’s life. Aren’t they allowed that?
The nomadic life should not be anyone’s concern except theirs.
The constant factor is they have each other and the children have the same siblings,the same assistants whom they see day in ,day out, no matter where they are. As far as we can tell, they are all thriving very well.
Seems like the intrusion from the paps is Brad and Angie’s major concern right now.

“It’s out of hand and crosses all lines of decency,” Pitt, 43, says. “Quite frankly I have a real problem with it. I think there should be laws against it.

“The kids didn’t ask for this and it’s frightening. They get right in the kids’ faces with video cameras and yell their names.

I had been reading some reviews about Tom C’s new movie Lions for Lambs and it seems that Tom C will give Brad a run for his Oscar money. I hope that the voters won’t forget Brad, just because Tom is having this great big push for his new movie. We all know that Tom has a formidable PR machine and a great box office track record. Anyway, just keeping my fingers crossed that Brad won’t be forgotten during awards time. Thank goodness Angelina seems to be making good on the early awards prediction with her Santa Barbara film festival win.

I do not think that is a bad statement. IMO, I belive he meant that date nights could be cancelled if there was a problem. There are those moments at home or wherever, where the could carve out 5 or so minutes or before bed, to spend with one another and talk or whatever couples do when they are together. Their kids come first, which is equally important to the both of them for which I am sure that plays a major role in why they love one another. And that respect, understanding and admiration could work for them as a couple rather than against.

Reese’s movie debuted in about a 100 theaters more than Angie’s.
I think box office is determined by the type of movie and not necessarily by the actors. Certain types of serious movies still have to be made even if they don’t make much money.

Was given free tickets to BP’s movie, so forced to go. I fell asleep twice, it was long and completely boring. Bad acting 101. Casey Afleck reminds me of a hick weasel. Movie is hyped up and to long.

Finally the truth about that movie. Honestly, I couldn’t stay til the end. I left 40 minutes after going in. Brad’s movie was that bad. I still have a headache from it. Gun blasts were so loud. Oscar’s will not acknowledge this movie. Brad should hide. Movie made absolutely no sense. No cute men, train scenes, makes a bad flick. Wisely if attending this movie, dissapointed one will be. I give it 2 and a half stars, for Brad & company being mentally challenge enough to say this represents a true movie. Jmo.
