Drew Barrymore’s Grey Gardens

Drew Barrymore films scenes her new movie Grey Gardens around Centre Island in Toronto, Canada. She plays ‘Little’ Edith Bouvier Beale while Jessica Lange reportedly plays “Big Edie’.

Synopsis: Based on the life stories of the eccentric aunt and first cousin of Jackie Kennedy (both named Edith Bouvier Beale aka “Big and Little Edie”) raised as Park Avenue débutantes but who withdrew from New York society, taking shelter at their Long Island summer home, Grey Gardens. As their wealth and contact with the outside world dwindled, so did their grasp on reality. They were reintroduced to the world when international tabloids learned of a health department raid on their home, and Jackie swooped in to save her relatives.

The 32-year-old actress is still dating one-time Apple plugger Justin Long.

Lucky You was a crap movie. The direction sucked. They should have taken an actress who is not famous to play her character. She didn’t show all her potencial. They didn’t give her a chance to show it. Her character was silly and secondary. It’s so easy blame an actor. You people leave in the present. She’s known as a rom com actress nowadays, and there’s a prejudice about it. Go see some of her older movies or give her a chance to show she’s great. Because I know she is.

Ruining a classic? Shut your ******* mouth up. You’re ignorant, clid. Go see the movie first, please. And if it sucked, you say what you think.

Come on guy’s give ita chance . My understanding is that the film will fill in MANY missing links to the Beales story . I for one am very interested in knowing more about those years-before Edie came home to Mamma and after.Yes the doc is a classic- but there is much more to the story . And I am excited about the actors chosen to play the roles Lange and Barrymore.

I like Drew. I hate her romantic comedies but she’s a very talented girl. My favourite movie is Poison Ivy. I remember her in 90’s, she have done a lot of great movies with great performances. I’m excited to see this one.

Hey how is mean to say that Drew is not suited or qualified to play Little Edie?

Have YOU seen the documentary? Hello. Wake up.

Curtis Hanson is an amazing director, don’t blame him for Drew lack of range. All she can do is look cute on screen.

Sweet Patty, you haven’t seen the movie, huh? I’m sorry but putting a famous actress like Drew (could be any other FAMOUS actress) in THAT silly and secondary character was wrong. Go study some cinema. And hey, did you watch MAD LOVE, POISON IVY, RIDING IN CARS WITH BOYS, DOPPELGANGER or AMY FISHER with her? No. If you had you wouldn’t be saying those stupid things here. So be quiet.

dumb hollywood @ 10/23/2007 at 8:58 pm

the documentary is already amazing, why make a movie that won’t have a chance at being as good??

Drew is too pretty to be Edie anyhow. ahhhh, why must hollywood remake EVERYTHING.

dumb hollywood @ 10/23/2007 at 8:59 pm

MAD LOVE, POISON IVY, RIDING IN CARS WITH BOYS, DOPPELGANGER or AMY FISHER with her?

please go study some cinema.

Unless you’re TWELVE, everyone woman has cellulite. Sheesh, idiots.

Can’t wait for this movie! LOVE those crazy broads!

I suppose the easiest solution is for those who do not care for Drew to not watch the movie when it is released and save themselves a lot of aggravation and anxiety. Those of us who think she is a fine talent look forward to seeing what she does with the role and will most likely enjoy her portrayal of Edie.

Here you can watch the Grey Gardens Documentary here.
It’s one of the most touching humane portraits of crazy people.

Don’t bother wasting your time with this crappy remake. Hollywood has no soul, just egomaniacs and shittie producers who never went to film school.

Excuse me, but wasn’t Little Edie, like in her fifties when she did Grey Gardens? Drew is in her early 30’s!

I like her dress a lot.

She is a living doll. I think she has a great figure, even if she has a little cellulite.

grey garden????? more like cottage cheese!

I see cellulite. With all those millions you would think she’d have that taken care of.

I’m sorry but take care of WHAT? Celulite? Dahling, every woman got celulite. Its so normal. She’s not like those celebs who see a little celulite or whatever and go operate. And truly, there’s just a little bit of celulite. She doesn’t need do nothing.

is it me or whenever i see celeb pics on jj’s website they suddenly have more cellulite than same pics on other websites?
… just checkin …

Thats unexpected to see some intelligent comments regards the role Drew is playing

Grey Gardens is an incredible documentary and I for one am looking forward to a screen adaptation. They can make a musical so why shouldn’t they make a film?

Drew Barrymore as an actress has more depth than most she knows what to do with at times and mostly plays quirky off beat characters even in Romantic comedys. She is very capable of playing characters at different ages - see ‘Riding In Cars With Boys’ and ‘Never Been Kissed’.

She is perfect to the role of Little Eddie.

Looking at those pics the look it might seem as though she’s a little too glamourous but the pic posted by DEL illustrates the point that the looks are pretty right.

It could be another film where Drew gets to play another character at different stages in life. Looking forward to this one.

She is perfection without actually being perfect!

In reply to dumb hollywood

MAD LOVE, POISON IVY, RIDING IN CARS WITH BOYS, AMY FISHER
are first class films. If you want to be technical the later is a TV movie rather than a cinematic/theatrical release - perhaps you haven’t study cinema that carefully?

I’ll give you DOPPELGANGER - Drew herself said that she’d rather poke needles in her eyes than watch that one. No ones pretending ‘Doppelganger’ is a masterpiece but that doesn’t mean someone somewhere can’t find merit or enjoyment from it.

Drew Barrymore is a very talented actress and has made several brilliant thoughtful, funny, moving and highly entertaining and intelligent films as an actor and producer ( and she is working as producer on Grey Gardens). But don’t trust what I say

Any fool can espouse critical cliches and tell others who don’t toe the party line to educate themselves or go see something. Theres a fine line between education and brainwashing.
