OlderHalle is Berry Sorry About Anti-Semitic Remark
Halle Berry apologized last night after she made an anti-Semitic joke while taping The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Friday afternoon.
An audience member told Page Six, Halle was showing photos of herself when she said, “Here’s where I look like my Jewish cousin!” and showed a shot of herself with a huge nose.
Halle said, “I so didn’t mean to offend anybody - and after the show I realized it could be seen as offensive, so I asked Jay to take it out, and he did. What happened was I was backstage before the show and I have three girls who are Jewish who work for me. We were going through pictures to see which ones looked silly, and one of my Jewish friends said [of the picture], ‘That could be your Jewish cousin!’ And I guess it was fresh in my mind, and it just came out of my mouth. But I didn’t mean to offend anybody.”

i’m really enjoying reading these posts, but what i find interesting that a film like Borat can gross millions of dollars in this country alone and it was saturated with racial sterotypes and millions of people found it to be “hilarious” while i found it insensitive to every ethnic/minority/racial group out there while also seeing the humor in it as well. so i would like to know when is it ok to crack a “ethnic” joke and when is it not??? Maybe people should only crack jokes on the racial/minority group that they belong to then people will not be offended. I’ve definitely said things about others that I wish I could take back, but I can’t, all I can do is apologize and move on. Don’t be hypocrites, we have ALL done it, she was just stupid enough to say it on live TV.

They must have two airings and showed this cut on the West Coast b/c on the East Coast airing that I saw it showed her saying this. And there was no big deal made of it at all. The audience laughed b/c they laughed the whole time at the pics she was showing. I am not defending her and what she said, I am just surprised that I am finding out they actually went back and cut out part of it.
i have jewish friends that even make fun of their own noses, i dont think its a big deal what she said… but she should be more careful coz some ppl are very sensitive with comments like that.

I can’t believe some people are actually justifying Angelina’s role in this movie as a black woman. Why, because the real Mariane Pearl was mixed not only with Cuban but with Jewish, Dutch and Japanese too? Mariane Pearl may not identify with her “black” side but she doesn’t have to…the white people in this world (not only America) will do it for her.
So, don’t try to act like you don’t see a black woman’s face when you look at Mariane Pearl’s picture. There’s not a person on this earth that would have been able to tell you all of the other nationalities Mariane is mixed with. The only thing that’s definite is that she’s not “all” black. All of a sudden it’s convenient for mixed people to identify with their white side when white people want to portray their black side in a movie. Last time I checked there’s only one side we’re allowed to choose from and that’s the black side.
I guess I didn’t get the memo that said mixed people can now “identify” as white people if we choose or if our noses are thin enough, our skin is light enough and our hair is straight enough. Mariane Pearl’s in-laws need to get their eyes checked because their daughter in-law is black…Angelina Jolie is white.
Oh, but you knew that…hence the wig she has to wear to portray another so called “white” woman who happens to have curly hair from a black ancestor way down the genetic line ;)
