GREAT Actors and Actresses reinvent themselves all the time you know. They re-invent themselves professionally, from role to role. Like Cate, from Elizabeth to Katherine Hepburn to Dylan. Or Angelina has, from hacker to gia to girl interrupted to Lara to Jane Smith to Mariane. Mediocre actresses stay the same, role after role after role.

REAL women do the same, in the 30 years from 10 to 40, a REAL woman changes from sweet little girl to rebellious teenager to college/ party girl to career woman to wife or partner to mother to (may be) divorcee and single parent to remarriage (may be) . In fact, Shakespeare writes about the 7 stages of man. And so it is with most REAL women who move from phase to phase, in many ways, more DRAMATICALLY then men because there are big choices that most women must make to put your career on hold, get pregnant, become a mother and then return to work on the mummy track.

During all these phases in a woman’s life, they change and GROW, sometimes dramatically. I have often thought that growth in a woman is reflected by the changes to a woman’s hair style (why do you think hairdressers are required if all we do is have long hair which needs cutting once a year?). From pony tails to short and spiky to short and sassy to pinned up elegant, to bedroom hair, from black to brown to blue and black with highlights.

Some people of course change less dramatically or barely at all. Even their hair styles changes only a little, over 15 years, for example, from the shorter Rachel look to the longer Rachel look. I wonder if people who rarely change their hair styles much might find change in their lives and with it, GROWTH, a little hard to handle. Perhaps people like that are easily shocked and thinks that the world might be shocked too.

But I gotta to tell you something, the world isn’t easily shocked. Really.
