I’m on the fence with this movie. I DESPISE the graphic novel that is based on, but the story in the movie apparently is considerably altered from the comic. So I’ll wait until the trailer comes out and hear for sure what the storyline is before I decide if this worth seeing.

Not that I think or expect anybody to care about what I just wrote I’m just adding my two cents.

I would like to see it`s trailer soon.I think I read somewhere that the story is comic but I`m not sure about it.

Pitt’s production company, Plan B is considering a biopic about Ted Kaczynski, whose campaign of terror through letter bombs killed three and wounded 23.

Director Andrew Dominik has done something rather amazing. He’s made a movie about one of the most notorious outlaws in the history of America without showing hardly any of his law-breaking ways. And the fact he’s done it in a compelling, exciting way is a credit to his skill and talent. The film, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, is an atmospheric tour de force, relying heavily on both Dominik’s skill behind the camera and the work of Brad Pitt and Casey Affleck in front of it. Both parts come together beautifully to reveal the first real awards contender of the season.

In the simplest of terms, the film is the story of young Robert Ford, known to history as a coward, and his transformation from hero-worshipping gunslinger wannabe to disillusioned cynic. But that doesn’t really explain the appeal of the 160 minute film. Instead, you have to look at what’s happening just below the surface. Dominik, who wrote the screenplay from Ron Hansen’s book, delves deep into the characters and brings an almost biblical sense of destiny to them, recasting Christ as James and Judas, his betrayer, in the form of Bob Ford.

When the final moment of James’ young life comes (he was only 34 when he was killed, and yet an international superstar) there is no choice for Ford. He must kill James because history demands it of him. In fact, they way the scene plays out, James himself demands it. Everything in the previous two plus hours leads directly to the moment when Ford points a new gun, given to him by James a day earlier, at an unarmed Jesse’s back. The target is presented and the shot taken. All goes according to plan and the outlaw is not only dead, but immortal; a martyr to a bygone era and patron saint to the rebel cause. At that point, I think you’d be hard pressed to think of Ford as a coward. It isn’t until later in his life, as he retreats from his own past that his bravery really comes into question.

As I said, in order for this film to succeed, it needed two things to work in harmony. The first, Dominik’s direction, comes through in a slow, methodical approach. He uses long shots in complete defiance of accepted filmmaking techniques. Here, they actually provide insight into a character instead of distance, placing the person within the confines of the nature surrounding him rather than with a 35mm frame. He uses wide landscapes to define his characters rather than the other way around.

Casey Affleck stars as the coward Robert Ford in The Assassination of Jesse James.
However, this would be close to impossible without the performances of not only Affleck and Pitt, but the amazing supporting cast as well. Affleck is rapidly proving himself to be the one with acting talent in the family. He only gets better as he matures and I don’t think it will be long before he has a statue to match his brother’s. Pitt’s performance is no surprise, but mostly because he’s not in a leading man role. As a character actor, when he’s not asked to play himself, he has serious chops which often get overlooked in favor of his pretty-boy face. Backing these two are Sam Rockwell as Charley Ford and Jeremy Renner, Garret Dillahunt and Paul Schneider as members of the James Gang. No matter which of these men are on the screen, you are riveted by the honesty in their portrayals.

Do yourself a favor and see this film. It’ll be one less on your list when the nominations are announced.

I totally agree with that. Brad wouldn’t be in the industry for 15 years and counting being offered roles back to back if he didn’t have talent. If he was just a pretty face he would have been forgotten before he even started.

That applies to Angie too. They both worked hard to be where they are today professionally and personally of course.

Brad is an incredible character actor. He NEVER played the pretty boy in ANY of his roles. He always wanted to get away from all that.

This is a question that citizens of the white-collared foreign-policy establishment thought they’d never be asked. The massive attention paid to Paris Hilton’s prison ordeal, Lindsay Lohan’s shame spiral and anything Britney Spears has done, said or exposed has distracted pop-culture mavens from celebrities that were making nobler headlines.

Increasingly, celebrities are taking an active interest in world politics. When media maven Tina Brown attends a Council on Foreign Relations session, you know something fundamental has changed in the relationship between the world of celebrity and world politics. What’s even stranger is that these efforts to glamorize foreign policy are actually affecting what governments do and say. The power of soft news has given star entertainers additional leverage to advance their causes. Their ability to raise issues to the top of the global agenda is growing. This does not mean that celebrities can solve the problems that bedevil the world. And not all celebrity activists are equal in their effectiveness. Nevertheless, politically-engaged stars cannot be dismissed as merely an amusing curiosity in foreign policy.

Consider the most notable example of a celebrity attempting to move the global agenda: Angelina Jolie. Her image has come a long way since her marriage to Billy Bob Thornton. I’m not familiar with this comic series so I’m gonna reserve my judgment until I see this movie. It’s always different with each comic series movie franchise. I’m very passionate about the movies I watch so regardless of the fact that I’m a fan of Angelina’s I have to see it first. As to the comic character Fox being African-American, I don’t think that holds any weight. Adaptations are always altered when it comes to graphic novels-to-movie. Look at CATWOMAN! For DECADES they have cast that role as a Caucasian female, then just a few years ago they cast Halle Berry who is African-American! Where’s the outcry there? Is it because she’s “black” and the suffering of all her ancestors allows her to do whatever she fits justify her color? I hope not. I would think our society has evolved for the better since the Middle Ages.

LOL! I considered something along that line, but the thing is - the National Enquirer is OBSESSED with Okra. The put her on the cover the way the Bauer rags put Angie on the cover. Almost every week for the last 2 or 3 months it’s been Okra and more Okra. During this time - her dad’s written a tell all, Stedman’s written a tell all, they had a story about Okra leaving her money to her dogs, a la the Queen of Mean, Leona Helmsley, they’ve had Okra’s thryroid problem, her school in Africa’s child abuse scandal, etc. The only times Okra hasn’t been on the cover…you got it…ANGIE has been on the cover.

So, I thought I’d help the NE kill 2 birds with one stone - cater to the MVM that loves Okra & hates Angie! Nothing is going to sell more NEs than that!

I had no idea about this new programs so to my surprise I saw it tonight. I usually watch cable.

All in all it was a really well researched program with vintage interviews from Angelina and photographs from Brad in his early years in Hollywood. There were some that I hadn’t seen before and the jumping in the pool at the Golden Globes was classic! They are the only one’s to have that footage and I thought it was great. Very unusual.

I disliked talk about BBT & X but it’s good that they showed them to give some sort of balance. Anything JV made me cringe. I just closed my eyes when he came on to say anything.

Not only that, but, Brad works with women and makes movies with women as the leads. If you’ve noticed, the male actors who have production companies, with the exception of Will Smith, all buy projects as properties for themselves.

I’ve noticed that. Brad is one of the few actors turned producers who actually casts other people in the movies. And now he has a hand in deciding who will become the superstars of tomorrow since he is casting up and coming actresses like Rachel McAdams.

Also wanted to point out what a stark contrast Plan B is from Warners. A recent executive from Warners was overheard saying they won’t cast females as leads in their movies because it’s not profitable for them. And here’s Plan B which is giving so many females the opportunity to continue making movies. Add that to the fact that Warners did a horrible job of promoting AOJJ and many of the movies they have produced have tanked, Warners pretty much sucks at almost every level.

Great to see our Angie working with James McAvoy & Morgan Freeman.

BTW, I love James from the TV series Shameless, he’s a cutie.

Passing Through - the reason the National Enquirer is hounding Oprah is because they are a political right leaning publication and Oprah just endorsed Senator Obama for President. They’ve been trying to slander her name now.

back at the office after my vacay…sigh….Unbelievable how much work could piled up in just two weeks.. My in tray looks like I’ve been gone for two months!!!!

Last Saturday when I got back, I saw the billboards for Beowulf!!! Can you imagine that, It’s opening on November 15th, how great is that !!! The pic on the billboard was amazing, it’s totaly sick! They had this LOTRish ambience and creature and has a captioned “pain is life”(I think) I loved it!!

Well that’s all for now, got to go back to work…aarrgghh…. My Boss is leaving for HongKong/Japan/Korea tomorrow and am joining him in Korea later and he wants a gazillion things to be done before he left.

Compare size of photo with that of screen. Actress on screen looks much wider.So most of actresses are requiered to lose weights by directors. Remember Cate , nicole kidman , Rene while filming. All lost weights.If they look nomal seize in photoes then, they are not good actress. And so Angie is one of lucky actresses, cause she don’t need to lose weights or she’s very professional.
