Keira Knightley takes the December 2007 cover of Elle Magazine, which hits newsstands nationwide next Tuesday, Nov. 13.
She may look for all the world like an old-school film beauty, but Keira has a spiky, anarchic streak that breaks the mold. In Atonement, she gets to have it both ways. Here are some snippets from Keira’s Elle interview:
On the tabloids: “What I hate is that they shove in your face: this is what you want to be. And you think, f—k that. I don’t want it. Stop telling me I want to look like her. Stop telling me I want that life. I don’t.”
On being moody: “I’m a moody bastard. Actually, I’ve been banned from reading newspapers because the way they’re written angers me so much. If I want an opinion, I’ll read the opinion part of the newspaper. I do not want it when I’m trying to get the facts. I get incredibly angry. It really f—ks me off. See, I have to calm down about it.”
On her sex scene in upcoming movie, “Atonement”: “There was no knob-touching, for real. But it certainly looked like that.”
On the word cute: “I hate cute, I’ve always hated cutesy. My mom used to ban the word cute. Absolutely banned.”
On romantic comedies: “I’m a total romantic- I love romantic films. But I don’t like being raped by sugar.”
On cell phones: “I hate them. It rings, and then I realize that I don’t want to talk to anyone. So I always press ignore.”
On becoming aware of her sexual powers: “Oh, my god. I don’t think I’m aware of it now! No… I’m lying. I don’t know why I said that. No, I’m not lying, actually. I’ll just have an argument with myself!”

I think she’s a great actress, but sometimes I get this ‘whiny’ vibe from her. She’s right, she is a moody *******! She always talks about the tabloids!

There’s something about that seems so fake to me. Like her personality is so put on. Girl just tries to hard and I don’t like it.

Good actress, but angry much?
Maybe because everyone else is so fake, someone who is actually real seems false. I like her and it’s refreshing to read someone who can be who they are and aren’t worried about p*ssing people off because they don’t fit in a mold or some perfect little persona for the public.
She’s been good in almost everything I’ve seen her in - I have a feeling she’s going to end up a great actress. She definitely has the potential.

I think its a toss up between her and Evangeline Lilly for who whines the most in interviews. Both of them need to learn how to shut their mouth.
I think that Keira is just speaking her mind (nothing sugar coated or held back) and being as real as someone can be as a very famous actor. And therefore you guys are not used to this and see her as being b@#%^ among other horrible things just because she’s not like lindsay lohan who sugar coats probably everything she says or else we would be shocked by the filthiness of who she really is. Many people can accept the ridiculous fakeness of Paris hiltons and Lindsay Lohans but they can’t shed some light on the truth that is spoken from Keira’s article. Read the whole article because justjared only takes the most negative and extreme comments from the article in his post. She really reveals to us what it is really like to have an intimate scene rather just being like “oh it was awkward, and the crew watched us” she actually shows the inside scoop of acting and the art and craft of acting. She prefers to stay real and that is what I find to be extremely admirable and surprising in this industry today.

May I suggest to that trout to not speak her mind next time. this interview is just a pure joke blah blah blah and blah blah blah I thought she was nice and inteligent but after this I think I’ll pass her next movie can’t look at that trout mouth anymore. I never understood why she’s so-called a pretty, beautiful, and talented actress. She’s too tall and has large bone structure- that’s why she starves herself to death. She’s ok when she has her mouth closed, but she looks really weird when she smiles. And I do not find her acting good either. The only movies I’ve seen (starring her) are Pirates series, but her acting is well, a bit immature. Some say she looks like Winona Ryder, but hell no. I’ve seen Ryder for reals and she is absolutely one of the most beautiful women I’ve seen so far. She’s more feminine and has a great voice too. And was really good at acting when she was about Kiera’s age. I feel bad for her though, her career could’ve been at the top still, if that shoplifting incident had not happened. Oh well. Sometimes I really don’t understand what the deal is with Hollywood, I mean some do get away with worse cases like drugs and affairs.

I have only seen a handful of Keira’s movies, and from what I can tell, she has talent. But, geez, she can come across as extremely ungrateful, with her pay cheque and what she does to earn such a huge amount of money, if she doesn’t like what comes with it, then quit and get a real job… it’s as easy as that!

Okay, she’s gotten really annoying. Her deal is to act like what a teenager thinks is rebellious. She says she hates everything, cusses, wears black liner a lot, and sticks it to the man. Whoop-dee-friggin’-doo. This chick is completely unoriginal. She’s every girl in my little sister’s inner circle who just discovered Cat Power and now are convinced they’re the most original and edgy people. EVER.
This is the downside to becoming famous so young: they’re usually mentally, socially and emotionally retarded.

See how dumb she is? Doesn’t she get that *she* is the uber-thin chick on the cover of the *fashion magazine*? *She’s* the chick we keep having shoved down our throats as the ideal woman. My ideal woman is smarter and self-possessed. My ideal woman doesn’t give pretentious interviews. My ideal woman doesn’t think that pairing mannish boots with dresses makes her “quirky”, nor would that ever be her incentive for wearing a particular outfit.
Also, #35. No no. I know what a real personality is like, apparently, unlike you. You use Paris Hilton as an example of what people must be used to and I can only assume you’re using an example you’re most familiar with? If so, very sad. Very, very sad.
Keira, first off, seems very affected. Look that word up if you need to. Secondly, who cares if this is how she really is? She gets points for not being fake? Are your standards so low?
And she needs to stop forcing herself onto projects. She wasn’t the first choice for The Jacket, Pride and Prejudice, Silk or Tulip Fever. John Madded (a very talented and respected British director) walked from Tulip Fever after she was forced on him by the production company and the whole project collapsed. She was considered the weak-link in The Jacket. Silk was supposed to be a Madden production as well but the same thing happened that happened with TF, except they fiound a director to replace him after he walked. ANd you know what? She’s been cited in virtually every review as the weak-link in the cast. The films has made virtually no money. P&P is the only film that didn’t get screwed because of her. And that had more to do with the director and built-in fanbase, than with her. This is a long-standing issue in the industry: Who does a film belong to- the director or the production company? She’s coming down on the wrong side.
She needs to learn her strengths and stop forcing herself on other people.
Wow, Elle, perhaps we could give you some suggestions as to truly talented actresses who actually have something non-b*tchy and intelligent to say: Rachel McAdams (you can do her twice, you’ve done this Knightley chick about five or six times already), Kerry washington (so beautiful), Amy Adams (ditto), Catalina Sandino moreno, ellen page…I could go on. Anybody but this skinny twit. Come on, Elle, do better.
