I can’t believe hat there are people out there who think of them as a great couple. He’s too short and she’s too tall. What a combination. Strangely enough, his ex married a short guy as well. I just can’t understand it. I mean, K.H. is only 28 or so, and acts and dresses and looks like 48. Seriously, she looks about the same age as Demi Moore. She used to be really cute before becoming a full-time ‘robot’. She was lively before. I mean, I just feel weird when I see her blank-emotionless face. Lafayette Ronald Hubbard would be pleased - or is pleased (if you’re a Scientologist and believe that Hubbard is busy sitting somewhere floaty on the outside of time).

The sci-fi author, philosopher and founder of the Church of Scientology (in 1950, his book “Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health” was published; it has since sold over 20 million copies worldwide and is regarded as the foundation for the religion) was always intent on recruiting celebs.

In 1955, he inaugurated Project Celebrity, run by a special branch of the church, to minister Scientology to top Hollywood players: to guide their careers, monitor and control all their relationships (Katie, are you listening?) pamper to their whims and generally ensure that this brilliant “communication line” to the masses was fully utilised as part of a loopy, but grand plan of world domination.

But wait a minute. How could our darling Maverick be a sucker for such a bizarre and - as is widely accepted - abusive philosophy?

Scientology is a mixture of science fiction, religion and philosophy that is deeply routed in Freudian thinking. According to Wikipedia.org, Scientology, originally established as a secular philosophy in 1952 by science-fiction author L. Ron Hubbard, was only characterised by him in 1953 as an “applied religious philosophy”.

The Church of Scientology’s Project Celebrity is executed in the form of Celebrity Centres, country-club like houses that offer expensive counselling and career guidance to the chosen stars - the headquarters, The Celebrity Centre International, has its conspicuous address in Franklin Avenue, overlooking the Hollywood Highway.

The actions of a convert are directed towards reaching various levels of spiritual enlightenment, or “clearing”. A convert can progress beyond “clear”, to becoming an OT, or Operating Thetan (”thetan” in Hubbard philosophy means “soul”). Scientologists believe that an OT is able to leave their body and mind. They can begin to stand outside of time.

According to author Peter Forde, who was once a member of the Church of Scientology’s elite Sea Organisation: “OT3 is a secret, senior level within Scientology that can only be done after many other courses, by which time the client is well prepared, well behaved and ready to, if not believe, at least work with anything Hubbard says as being truth, ignoring all evidence to the contrary.”

John Travolta is an OT3. So is Priscilla Presley.

You think this is bizarre? Wait for it: According to Scientology doctrine, “OT3 mainly concerns a supposed Incident II happening 75 Million years ago, when Xenu an officer in charge of the 76 local planets of the “Galactic Confederation”, solved overpopulation by mass exterminations, mostly by shootings.

“The souls of those killed were collected together, transported to volcanoes on earth, H-bombed at the volcanoes, collected up again using electronic ribbons and transported to Hawaii or Las Palmas. They were there subjected to 36 days of hypnotic “implants” using films and simple apparatus, which in their already shocked state was supposedly very effective and kept them clustered together and trapped on earth as demons.”

Films and giant movie screens feature prominently in Scientology legend, if you will, and the parallels with the movie industry are startling and can not be purely coincidental - particularly when you consider the impact Hollywood has over mainstream America, and (some argue) its Orwellian tendency to rewrite history (aka ‘Braveheart’ and other historically inaccurate biopics) for the digestion of the masses.

But… on with the theory. Scientologists say that each person has a number of these traumatised souls stuck on their bodies - Hubbard (the genius!) referred to them as “fleas”. OT3 processing involves hypnosis - the subject is supposed to communicate with these souls and, in line with Dianetics theory, relieve their trauma by recalling the said Incident II.

Religious figures like Christ and Buddha, according to Scientologists, existed well above the level of “clear”. So, according to Scientology, has John Travolta - there are pictures of him undergoing his routine OT3 processing on the internet, as are there of Priscilla Presley.

OT3s are, therefore, demi-gods.

This is where we need to take a reality check. Scientology mumbo-jumbo aside, if you look at the celebrity hungry world, Tom and John well, are they not actually demi-gods?

Here’s where the real mind-**** starts: thanks to the ongoing blurring of reality and fiction that goes on in Hollywood (holy ****, the entire American movie machine relies on smudging these boundaries), then OT3, clearing and programming crap aside, the religion is actually taking hold in reality.

Yikes! It’s no wonder that Scientology appeals to celebrities, many of whom have a penchant to view themselves as the said demi-gods. It is these celebrities, who have easily accessible “emotional buttons” (translate: big egos), and are vulnerable to “admiration bombing” (Scientology-speak for flooding them with attention and admiration) that are easy targets.

Take the jazz musician Chick Corea: a former head of the Celebrity Centre, the late Yvonne Jentzsch would say: “I can get him to do anything for me, just give me the phone”.

It’s all a little funny: celebrity megastars being controlled like puppets who jump and smile in reaction to every emotional trigger calculated by their ever-present, omnipresent “counsellors”.

Tom Cruise: Runaway Mom ‘Dead’ Now to Friends

It hasn’t been a great week for Tom Cruise, PR-wise.

Perhaps inspired by Cruise’s Scientology fundraiser in New York last week, both the Star and US Weekly are featuring Cruise and wife Katie Holmes on their covers. The subject of their stories: a possible divorce, brought about by Katie’s frustrations with Scientology.

While Cruise should be worrying about what’s left of his career, instead he seems to be digging his heels in deeper when it comes to his religious devotion. He doesn’t seem to realize that a whole new generation now associates Cruise with Xenu, aliens and science fiction.

On top of this, word comes to us from Marco Island, Fla., where Tom’s mom, Mary Lee Mapother, lived for nearly two decades until exactly a year ago.

As I’ve reported before, it was roughly a year ago that Tom’s mother left her Florida home for Tom’s Beverly Hills manse and never returned.

This was a shock to her longtime second husband, Jack South, who accompanied her on a trip to see new baby granddaughter Suri. After going west with Mary Lee, South went south and east. He returned to Florida alone.

Since then, with perhaps one exception, Mary Lee Mapother has not once contacted her many friends in Marco Island.

“She just vanished,” says a friend. “It’s like there was a death.”

Jack South, friends say, has been consoling himself with his children from his first marriage, and with friends who can commiserate with him.

What happened to these people sounds a lot like what happened to Holmes’ former friends — including her “Dawson’s Creek” castmates — when Holmes went out to be interviewed by Cruise in April 2005 for “Mission: Impossible 3″ and never returned home.

They are the property of Scientology.

Our government needs to open a full-scale investigation and seize the whole damned place and all of the criminals who inhabit it. There isn’t a mob family in all the world who has ANYTHING on scientologists when it comes to crime. They’ve got it all - murder, bribery, extortion, kidnapping, witness-tampering, theft, wire-tapping, drug trafficking, slavery, child abuse, breaking and entering, fraud, etc. They are guilty of all of that and more. Tom Cruise is a criminal and I can’t wait for the day when all that is hidden, is brought to light. And that day, my friends, is drawing near.

Mimi Rogers, the woman responsible for introducing Tom Cruise to the world of Xenu, says he would never have sex and was bent on becoming a monk. There was an amusing piece in the Melbourne Age recently on Tom buidling a huge bunker beneath his home to protect him from an alien invasion.

I had always assumed that the Scientology Company had something massive and potentially career-destroying on Tom, and that’s why he kept on with the space alien drivel.

But when I read this, I thought, perhaps… he really believes it! Y’know - that an evil Lord Xenu banished aliens to earth, detonated them in volcanoes and made their souls stick to humans who have to be cleared by the Scientology Companies. Apparently Kieth was forced into rehab because it was some sort of clause in her contract wiht cruise…media notes that keith wasn’t having issues but had A drink, which the midget considers a sin, so in order to see her kids Kieth had to agree to go to rehab so she could see her kids as the original custody agreement states, but then after that she only got to see them when she was in LA or they were in Australis less than the 6months and then they dissapeared…there is some serious disconnection going on there..

Some of the movies that do well in cinemas actually do get some bad reviews ..However in those cases, the lead actor has to be well liked and box office dream like Will Smith… ..Tom cruise never really got good acting reviews simply that he was well liked at a time when his madness was well covered by Pat, his publicist….Now its all out in the open, TOM cruise is mad..

Not that there is anything with being mad, just that if you dont accept it and seek treatment you are a nuisance to society who stands to be ridiculed…

This is why the MAD sceintologist he seeks refuge in an organization that encourages madness without intervention and prey on their sorry **** minds to enslave the victims…

Some of you fool scientologist leave such brainless posts its so hilarious just to read them…I guess after a heavy dose of Niacin and Oil and e-metering with high doses of brain wash , you can only FOLLOW stupidly like the RoBoHo.

Many great films are not often seen by the public but await on DVD and especially war-Iraq-911 and western productions dont appeal to the crowd unlike superhero franchises,horror films and comedies.Even cartoons,chick flicks and family movies do better.

I like Rendition,Mighty Heart,Constant Gardener,United,World Trade Center,Good Shephard,Syrianna by Clooney,I love Foxx and Garner in the Kingdom by Peter Berg but the crowd didnt care for them. My fave films are even Flags of our Fathers and Black Hawk down and again it didnt do well at the B.O.

Overall brave and dignified move by Tom. Better greenlighting films for MGM and U.A. like MI-4,Terminator and other sequels.

My other dream guy aside from Tom Cruise is Bale but Rescue Dawn a Vietnam movie didnt do well including 3:10 to Yuma with Russell Crowe. Im watching Lions for Lambs for Cruise,Streep and Robert but its also something personal for me because my grandpa is a Veteran and my uncle resigned his Wall Street prestigious job joining the Army in Afghanistan. Its really so noble and such a big sacrifice that so many Americans ignore.

hahah..I beg to differ but Jolie is dead meat in Hollywood..she stepped on some serious heavyweight during her first marriage..Billy Bob was living with DIANE KEATON daughter, whose father is another Hollywood A-lister..then she went for BRAD whose wife is tight buddies to a Hollywood clan the arquettes…again..JOlie isolates her family with constant travel from place to place..neither kids not partner have had the time to make friends in an one place they stopped at…they look to Jolie for guidance in everything,.again that kind of isolation can be termed as emotional abuse from mothers…I am the only one who can make things better….They have been unable to live in brad house in LA..she constantly runs away form LA…her feud with her father doesnt not do much for her either..without having him as a father , her academey award would not have come so easily..you can disagree….But as sameul L jackson says, he votes for any friend on the list… It will be a while before either of them win anything in la la land.

Also making an appearance in that legendary episode of Ellen was the red-hot Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton. Her relationship with Goldblum now over, she accepted Thornton’s invitation to appear in a rock video he was making in Little Rock, Arkansas, for Widespread Panic. The tabloids were already claiming the pair were having an affair, and were further fuelled by the fact that Thornton’s fourth wife filed for divorce on the very day Dern travelled to see him. But the affair actually began during the shoot, and the couple were eventually engaged in early 1999. Thornton even wrote Dern an extended Valentine, the film Daddy And Them, where the pair play Claude and Ruby Montgomery, trying to help out murder-charged uncle, Jim Varney. Dern would excel as the supremely jealous Ruby, going hilariously barmy when her husband is seriously injured in a car crash and is attended to by an overly pretty ambulance driver.

Then disaster struck. As Dern put it: “I left our home to go and make a movie, and while I was away my boyfriend got married, and I never heard from him again”. Suddenly, Thornton had fallen for Angelina Jolie and the couple were bragging about their sexual exploits at every opportunity - which Dern must surely have enjoyed immensely. Describing the split as being “like sudden death”, she sought comfort by staying with Rossellini, and talking it over with best friend Meg Ryan. And indeed it would be Ryan who, a year or so later, introduced Dern to her next love - rock star Ben Harper, then himself in the throes of divorce. 2001 proved to be a great year for Laura, possibly her best yet. She warmed up for it with Robert Altman’s Dr T And The Women, where Richard Gere would play a rich Dallas gynaecologist whose life beguns to crumble when his wife Farrah Fawcett is committed and he falls for golf pro Helen Hunt, all while daughter Kate Hudson plans a spectacular wedding. Dern would show as Gere’s alcoholic and freshly-divorced sister-in-law, adding yet more female complication when she crashes in Gere’s house with her three spoilt children.

Following the finally-released Daddy And Them and a monster hit with Jurassic Park III, Dern would return to TV for Within These Walls, another politically motivated piece. Here she’d play a nun who hopes to rehabilitate women prisoners by teaching them to train dogs, and has to convince a tough warden and tougher jailbirds like Ellen Burstyn. Following this would come Novocaine where dentist Steve Martin was drawn into a seedy underworld of drugs and deception by femme fatale Helena Bonham Carter. Dern would play Martin’s apparently perfect partner, aiding him in his business, vampishly servicing him yet all the while betraying him, added comedy coming from her admirably straight-faced martial arts routines. Next would be Focus, concerning growing tensions between Jews and anti-Semites in Brooklyn towards the end of WW2, William H. Macy playing a good guy who’s afraid to make a stand against burly, crazy Jew-haters like Meat Loaf. But he’s forced to step forward when he marries Laura’s Gertrude, a woman who’s mistakenly thought to be Jewish herself. The movie was chilling, truly intense.

After this - in true Dern fashion - came another movie with a big, big heart. This was I Am Sam, where an Oscar-nominated Sean Penn played a man with a mental age of 7, whose child, Dakota Fanning, is taken from him and handed to foster parents. In desperation, he hires beastly, hard-nosed lawyer, Michelle Pfeiffer, the film’s emotional weight lying in Pfeiffer’s and foster mother Dern’s gradual realisation that Penn and Fanning are indeed an effective family. There’d also be a high-profile TV role, when she’d play US Poet Laureate Tabatha Fortis, causing a stir when she visits the White House in huge hit The West Wing.

2002 would see Dern continue on her crusading way when she reunited with mum Diane Ladd for Damaged Care. Here’d she’d play real-life campaigner Linda Peeno, a doctor in the managed care industry who blew the whistle when she saw medical treatment being denied to those who couldn’t afford it. Meanwhile, her cheating husband James LeGros causes her home life to crash down around her. And there’d be plenty more infidelity in her next cinematic release, We Don’t Live Here Anymore. Based on two short stories by Andre Dubus (In The Bedroom had been based on another), this saw Mark Ruffalo and Peter Krause as small-town college professors, married to Dern and Naomi Watts respectively. When Ruffalo begins an affair with Watts, Dern is pushed into a half-hearted tryst with serial womaniser Krause, real love seeming absent from all their lives. It was painful viewing, particularly as there were kids involved, and Dern was excellent as the hard-drinking Terry, especially intense in her arguments with Ruffalo.

American ennui and emotional confusion would also play a large part in Dern’s next project, Happy Endings, an intriguing piece which mixed several stories of gay lover, blackmail and pregnancy. In one, gay Steve Coogan would obsess over the parentage of a child born to his lesbian friends, Dern and Sarah Clarke. Following this would come The Prize Winner Of Defiance, Ohio, written by Jane Anderson who’d earlier penned Dern’s 1999 outing, The Baby Dance. Set in the 1950s, this would see Julianne Moore raising ten kids on the money she makes from competitions to provide jingles and slogans for commercial products. Trapped in a marriage to drunken, jealous Woody Harrelson, she dreams of visiting Goshen, Indiana, where famed competition winner Dern runs a Contestor Club, Dern’s appearance being brief but, as ever, charming.

There’d be another bit part in Lonely Hearts, where Dern would bring joy back into the life of jaded detective John Travolta as he grieves over his suicide wife and hunts the real-life Lonely Hearts killers in the 1940s. Then Dern would produce some of her most satisfying work in years when reuniting with David Lynch and Diane Ladd for Inland Empire. Here Dern would star as an actress hired by director Jeremy Irons and conducting an affair with co-star Justin Theroux. Now things get strange as her life begins to blend with that of her character, the two realities merging in a most menacing fashion. Strange Poles and weird rabbits (one being played by recent co-star Naomi Watts) would appear as Dern, both a spectator and protagonist, would be taunted, threatened and driven to paranoia. Even by Lynch’s standards, it was highly experimental stuff and was only kept from collapse by a stunning performance by Dern, who was in almost every scene of this three-hour movie.

The next year, 2007, would see Dern join a cast of eccentrics in Year Of The Dog, where a lonely Molly Shannon would suffer the death of her beloved beagle and attempt to fill the void in her life with human rather than canine contact. Useless advice would be given by Dern, playing Shannon’s sister-in-law, a super-mum ludicrously over-protective of her daughter, as the film slipped between comedy and tragedy - as you’d expect from director and writer Mike White, who’d earlier penned The Good Girl. Year Of The Dog would be followed by the psychological thriller Tenderness, where cop Russell Crowe would seek to prove that a teenager just released from jail was a raging psycho and a terrible threat to a runaway girl who’s attracted to him. Dern would play the girl’s alcoholic mother, whose string of annoying boyfriends helps to drive the girl into the arms of the suspected loon.

Dern is still growing - practising yoga, studying theology. She could go anywhere. Perhaps she’ll direct. While filming A Perfect World, she made a 30 minute short called The Gift, about a woman enduring terrible self-examination after a Thornton-like split, and starring Isabella Rossellini. Maybe she’ll try the theatre - in 1990 she starred with Glenn Close in Brooklyn Laundry, one of a few stage roles. Far more likely, you’ll see her continue to switch between major studio movies and small, heartfelt works dealing with social injustice. Her dad killed John Wayne, after all, and Laura Dern is set on making things a-right.

Tom used to get any woman he wanted….he let himself go and had to settle for Katie Holmes. It’s just unimaginable that he didn’t see how she would send his career in a downward spiral.

‘Lions’ Redford, Streep: Not Fond of ‘Lamb’ Cruise?

No, Robert Redford and Meryl Streep did not attend Tom Cruise’s big dinner the other night honoring him by the American Museum of the Moving Image.

When I noted that the “Lions for Lambs” stars were absent, an insider very close to the scene told me, “Meryl and Bob can’t stand Tom. In London, Tom kept trying to push himself into interviews. Bob said, ‘No.’ Tom wouldn’t listen. Meryl has done almost nothing for the movie. She wants nothing to do with him.”

On the other hand, a supporter of the film said, “That’s mean. They’re great friends. Just look at their interview on ‘Good Morning America.’”

Well, I did. It was pre-taped and not live. It was also highly edited. Cruise says nary a word. Streep sits between the two men. Of course, Redford and Cruise have no scenes together in the movie. But Redford directed him. They do not look like great friends now. Look, no one’s surprised.

Redford certainly would not have felt comfortable on Tuesday night. Cruise not only had big-shot Scientologist Sky Dayton at his table, but also Dan Snyder, Republican and owner of the Washington Redskins. That was not Redford’s scene.

A spokesman said Redford had always had a Sundance Institute dinner scheduled for that night. But usually in those cases, the absentees send video testimonials. Neither Streep nor Redford were involved in that kind of gesture.

“Lions for Lambs” is going to be problematic no matter who likes whom. Conversations take place in it that I would like everyone to hear. But few people will. The odds are “LfL” is a huge money loser. It should have been made for HBO or Showtime.

On the small screen, its sentiments would be much easier to digest. In a big theater, I don’t think so. Anthony Lane wrote in the New Yorker this week that “Lions for Lambs” is “most charitably described as Ibsen with helicopters.” Cindy Adams said Cruise could have been replaced by a paper bag. And those are the good reviews.

Cruise and his very smart partner Paula Wagner follow “LfL” with “Valkyrie,” the movie no one thinks they want to see about the attempted assassination of Hitler. It’s scheduled for Aug. 8. You know, in the summer, people love to see the star of “Mission: Impossible” high-stepping around the Fuhrer.

The tag line is: “You had me at achtung.” Neither of these films is destined to be a moneymaker. And that leaves a lot of questions for Merrill Lynch, financiers of the United Artists slate.

Katie looks so different because she had an extreme make over. She looks more matronly than she was two years ago and it is because of her new nose and who knows what else she had done to her face.

Does anyone besides me think Katie has big legs, ankles. Not the typical perfect set like most of Hollywood. It’s actually kind of refreshing but just find it a little odd. Does Tom notice that?
