Caught on photo! Pete’s second hot date with Angie!
Hey, do Brad Pitt and Madelyn Hammond know about this? Here’s a great pic of our own dashing Pete Hammond, king of the Oscars Q&A screenings, with the lovely queen of Hollywood, Angelina Jolie. (Click here to see more at JustJared.com.) (Click here to read Pete’s latest update on the Oscar derby, complete with tattle on other rivals in the best-actress race.)
Paramount Vantage PR guru Lea Yardum gave us this on-the-spot report of the event on Monday night: “After a beautiful screening of ‘A Mighty Heart’ for 500 SAG Nominating Committee and SAG members on the Paramount lot, Angie received a standing ovation as she took the stage for her Q and A and then again after speaking about portraying Marianne Pearl for 40 minutes with moderator Pete Hammond. She then joined the 500 guests for a reception in the theater lobby, enjoyed a glass of wine and has been chatting with guests for the last 30 minutes.”
Here’s Pete’s report to us about Angie: “She was great. This is the second time I have done this sort of interview with her and quite frankly she always makes you feel like it’s the first time she’s talked about this. Totally genuine, even getting emotional at a couple of points when talking about Marianne Pearl (who she plays) and her young son Adam. The crowd at Paramount definitely loved her and it seemed to me it was virtually at capacity, impressive since they put this screening together in less than a week’s time.”

We know Brad is a very funny and humor person. I feel like Angie becomes more humor than before since she got together with Brad. JMO.

Fan Rant: I Just Saw ‘Beowulf’ in IMAX 3-D … and I’ll Never Be the Same
Posted Nov 9th 2007 10:32AM by Scott Weinberg
If you’re a regular reader of this website, then you might have noticed a little something missing over the last two weeks. That missing something is … me. So my apologies to all (five) of you who look forward to my movie reviews, horror news, and random blather — but I’ll be back in full force next week! Still, after the cinematic experience I had last night, I just had to take a break from my UK vacation and share this anecdote:
Thanks to some contacts here in England, I was able to wrangle an invite to a BAFTA screening of Robert Zemeckis’ Beowulf — and since I was assigned that title for Cinematical review, I figured it was a smart move to go see the flick now. But then I looked a little closer at the invitation: The screenings were being held the BFI London IMAX Cinema! In Hi-Def 3-D! Whoa! (Special thanks to Mr. Alan Jones and Warner UK for the invitation!)
Now, before I continue, I think it’s important to share some of my opinions on filmmaker Robert Zemeckis: I think the guy’s a great filmmaker, but also that his last few films (particularly The Polar Express) were more interested in technology than storytelling. But it’s pretty tough to hold a grudge against the guy who gave us Used Cars, Roger Rabbit and the Back to the Future trilogy, plus I was really curious to see what screenwriters Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary were going to do with the classic Beowulf story, so off we went to the cinema: Myself, UK FrightFest co-honcho Paul McEvoy, Severance screenwriter James Moran, and Guardian film critic Phellim O’Neal. We climbed inside the stunningly massive IMAX theater, the lights went down, and …
Wow.
My full review will arrive on Tuesday, but if you’ve never trusted me before, you simply must trust me on this: If you plan to go see Beowulf, you MUST see it in IMAX 3-D. Suffice to say that, for me, it was a cinematic experience on par with the first time I saw Star Wars. I felt like I was just being introduced to the future of movies — and it was staggering to behold.
Plus the flick’s pretty darn good.

There’s a small interview with Angie in this week’s people. She says she’s never really cooked but this year she’s going to try and cook a turkey with the kids. Also she says they will have a pizza waiting.
Angie is too funny. Got to love her!

Missouri Fan:
Just got back from the Pinoy store for our weekly groceries, will check the video as soon as I finish blogging.
Janice:
To bold the text, or to change color, (only to blue, by the way), just put the “less than” symbol (below the K in your keyboard), then the letter B for bold, A for the color blue, or I for italic, then put the “greater than” symbol (below the letter L), then type your text. To cancel, same thing except put the back slash before the letter B, A or I.
i’ve already seen this love that mannnnnnnn he’s sooooooooo hottttttttt goooooooood i love him even i can’t stand her wive
JEN IS THE BEST
wow so 80s.
Beowulf Review
Is Angelina Jolie really as hot in CG form?
by Chris Tilly, IGN UK
UK, November 8, 2007 - If talk of Beowulf conjures up images of listless poetry lessons at school then think again - the new big screen version of the Anglo-Saxon epic is one of the most exciting and viscerally accomplished films of the year. Using performance-capture technology and crystal clear 3D imagery, director Robert Zemeckis fully immerses the viewer in a mythical world of warriors, monsters and demons, and in doing so makes his best film for more than a decade.
Which is no mean feat as the source material is challenging to say the least. The 3,000-line poem was written sometime in the sixth century and revolves about a Viking warrior who saves an ancient Danish kingdom from destruction at the hands of a terrible beast. The plot is pure Hollywood, but the convoluted and disparate nature of the original text couldn’t be further from modern, three-act screenplay structure. Writers Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary have decided to play fast and loose with the story however, filling in the poem’s many blanks to create a convincing and wholly satisfying adventure about the battle between good and evil and the nature of true heroism.
Their story kicks off with King Hrothgar’s kingdom under attack from Grendel, a malevolent monster hell-bent on delivering death and destruction to the Danes. A feast for the eyes, it immediately becomes clear that visually, Beowulf is quite unlike any movie ever made. The filmmakers have fine-tuned the motion-capture technology so at times the humans look photo-realistic - no dead-eyed Polar Express-style kids here - rather we get lifelike characters with faces every bit as expressive as their human counterparts.
Beowulf himself is a triumph - a muscular warrior with a disdain for clothes that allows the viewer to see (almost) every line and curve of his brilliantly computer generated body. As for the vocal performance, it’s initially jarring to hear Ray Winstone’s cockney growl coming from the body of such a Viking Adonis, but by the end of the film his casting makes perfect sense.
Angelina Jolie’s monster on the prowl.
As played by Angelina Jolie, Grendel’s mother is also an incredibly accomplished creation. Making full use of the star’s obvious talents, she pads and slinks around her underwater lair like some feline seductress from hell - It’s one of the most sexually charged performances Jolie has yet committed to film.
As for Grendel himself, the filmmakers have created one of the great big-screen creatures - a superhuman giant dripping bubbling blood and festering flesh from every godless pore. Crispin Glover, who last worked with Zemeckis on Back to the Future more than 20 years ago, imbues the creature with just the right combination of anger, violence, sadness and pathos to create a truly memorable movie monster.
But forget plotting and performance - Beowulf is all about action, and in this respect the results are truly jaw-dropping. Fully utilizing the limitless computer canvas, the camera swoops and soars around the expansive CG sets, viewing proceedings from hitherto impossible angles and vantage points.

From the violently breathless opening exchanges, the film rarely slows down to catch its breath. Battle after battle ensues, the monsters becoming ever larger and more dangerous and the combat increasingly eventful and outlandish, culminating in an astonishing finale following an enormous fire-breathing dragon in flight. These spectacular set-pieces make full use of the 3D technology, and will have the audience ducking and diving for cover. With James Cameron currently working on his own 3D epic Avatar and several other filmmakers following suit, this might just be the future of theatrical releases, and if so we’re all in for a treat.
On the negative side, the film does have several dramatic lulls between the action sequences and the sporadic attempts at humour are corny in the extreme. Also, so much of the film’s appeal lies in the 3D-IMAX experience that one wonders how impressive the action will be when screened in normal 35mm (my guess would be pretty underwhelming).
That said; all credit to Zemeckis and his team for taking an ancient Anglo-Saxon text and giving it the most modern of spins. By combining cutting edge technology with good old-fashioned storytelling they’ve created a truly original feature that genuinely takes the breath away.

Anjelina Jolie given Freedom Award for her work for refugees
NEW YORK: Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie’s efforts to improve the lot of the refugees has won her the prestigious “Freedom Award” from the International Rescue Committee (IRC).
She shared the award with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in recognition of their contribution to the cause of refugees. She is the goodwill ambassador for UNHCR.
“The Freedom Award is a symbol that we will only be able to fully enjoy our freedom when everyone else is able to enjoy theirs,” said High Commissioner Antsnio Guterres at a ceremony in New York.
Although unable to attend the award presentation ceremony, Jolie, in a video message, hailed the close partnership between UNHCR and the International Rescue Committee.
People of concern to UNHCR include not only refugees, but related groups such as asylum-seekers, refugee returnees, stateless people and some of the estimated 25 million people who are displaced within their own countries, known as internally displaced persons (IDP).
Since 2006, the number of refugees worldwide has been increasing and now stands at some 10 million, UNHCR said, attributing the rise largely to the crisis in Iraq.
This was the second time that the UN agency has been honoured by the International Rescue Committee for its work protecting refugees. In 1995, the then High Commissioner Sadako Ogata received the Freedom Award.
