Angelina Jolie Talks Beowulf, Motherhood and More

Check out this brand new interview with Angelina Jolie promoting her newest film Beowulf. Watch her as she talks about the film, motherhood, her co-stars and more.

Angie discusses the beauty of her character as Grendel’s mother (Crispin Glover plays Grendel).

“So I thought it was all really sexy,” she said. “And I loved that there’s this transition that she’s not really beautiful. She can morph into what other people perceive as beauty but she is this other creature.”

Peep the galaxy backdrop. Hot, huh?

AMH:

Rental Gross: $23.47 million
(as of 11/11/07)

Rental % of B.O.: 255.7%

>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Original truth, I checked the Boxofficemojo site where you got your numbers and here is what it says:

Rank WeeklyGross %Change Gross-to-Date Week#
Oct. 15–21 6 $5.38 - $5.38 1
Oct. 22–28 9 $4.44 - 17.4% $9.82 2
Oct.29–Nov. 4 11 $3.63 -18.3% $13.45 3
Nov. 5–11 15 $2.88 -20.7% $23.47 4
Rental Data Courtsey of Home Media Retailing.

Sorry, but the Gross to Date numbers don’t add up to $23m but to $16m. I crossed checked with transformers etc and I believe Boxofficemojo may have gotten it wrong.

Best thing fans is not respond to comments about the Outatouch article. Lets talk about other positive things about Angie and her family.

Thrilling ‘Beowulf’ gives epic tale a new spin

Wow, three threads one after the other … you really rock, Jared!

Thank you so much.

Sigh, Angie is really something, isn’t she? Beauty, sexiness and brains, what a lethal combination. No wonder Brad fell for her and pursued her all over the world and wouldn’t let her go. Can you blame him, knowing what he was putting up with before?

———————————————-
Hi briseis
No…I don’t blame him at all. On the contrary, I admire him for moving on and making himself “happy”. Life is too short.

Just don’t understand why they still bash these two. Any ohter couple this would have stopped! Couples break up all the time.I guess they will continue until their mags stop selling.

Beowulf makes an epic comeback

The once obscure Old English tale has won new fans 1,300 years after it was first told.

First written down around the year 1000, “Beowulf” opens by recounting the travails of Hrothgar, King of the Danes, who is under attack by Grendel. To the rescue arrives a young warrior.

“Beowulf is my name,” he brags. “I am ready and willing to report my errand.” Or, as he put it in Old English, “Beowulf is min nama. . . . paet we hine swa godne gretan moton.”

Beowulf slays Grendel. All is well, until Grendel’s mother shows up seeking revenge.

Okay folks, I worked in adoption for many years so let me try to put this is some perspective.

The ONLY way Brad and Angelina could possibly lose Z is if the birth family — and they would have to prove they are her birth family — could prove the agency in Ethiopia deliberately lied about Z’s status. And the burden of proof would be on the birth family, and the odds are about a billion to one they could ever meet it.

That said, I think the whole thing is a non-issue. Outa Touch is outa news this week and has to put something with shock value on their cover to sell their trash magazine, so they recycle some two-year-old bullshit story that never happened to begin with. If I remember correctly, about the time Z was adopted, some woman showed up claiming she was Z’s aunt. When told to give some proof she was related to Z, she did a fast fade and never returned.

And we all remember when Pax’s supposed “birth mother” materialized out of nowhere claiming she never gave him up and the tabs were screaming kidnap.

Next thing you know, they’re going to resurrect Maddox’s birth mother. Want to bet they won’t?

I can’t believe this story, that originated with the Sun, is being rehashed. Back then, The Sun even had a picture of the mother holding a picture of Angelina, and supposedly quoting the mother saying she just wanted Zahara to be loved and given an education. This, I’m sure, has already been investigated. OutaTouch is Outawhack.

What was life really like in ‘Beowulf’ time? Not so Hollywood, experts say:

The classic epic poem “Beowulf” comes to the big screen on Friday featuring a handsome warrior, a gorgeous monster and state-of-the-art special effects.

But life in sixth-century Scandinavia was not that thrilling. There was famine, disease and constant battles with raiders - a woman was considered lucky if her child reached the age of four. Here is a guide to how life really was in Beowulf’s time:

-The Era

The time has traditionally been known as the Dark Ages, or the early Middle Ages, because it follows the fall of the Roman Empire. The overall economy in Europe collapsed, said Michael Drout, English professor at Wheaton College in Norton, Mass.

“There was much less writing, much less trade, the population declined from plague,” said Drout. “So there was a lower level of technology and economic activity.”

There was also an end to urban centres; smaller kingdoms became more popular, resulting in fighting over resources, treasure and which culture would prevail, said Alf Siewers, an assistant professor of English at Bucknell University.

-Aging

While Beowulf was older than 90 when he fought the dragon in the epic poem, life in the sixth century was short and turbulent. Because of the infant death rate and early mortality rate, life expectancy was in the low-to mid-30s.

“If you had five children, you would be lucky if two of them lived to be adults,” said Michael Twomey, who teaches the poem in his medieval literature course at Ithaca College.

-Gender Roles

Beowulf may have been fighting a dangerous female monster, but in the real sixth-century Denmark traditional gender roles applied; women raised kids and made clothes.

“It would have been a contradiction in the mentality of that period for women to bear arms in a formal organized way,” said Niles. “This isn’t to say women couldn’t fight in ordinary circumstances, but they weren’t professionals.”

Most of the men were farmers; only a small percentage were part of the professional warrior class, said Niles. But any man could be called upon to fight

yes, it is a good number. Also AMH is not out on rental or sale yet in Asia. I believe Box Office mojo does not measure rentals and sales in the international market.

I’m pretty sure AMH will be profitable to the studios and producers once everything is added into the $$ pot.

Looking at the Box Office figures alone is not going to be sufficient when more than 80% of profits for the studios and producers come from DVD rentals and TV license re-runs, both in the USA and also in the huge international market. These numbers aren’t available for the likes of you and me. The studios will have all sorts of information and details which the general public don’t see. For example, which actors are popular with which demographic group? How likely are that demographic group likely to see a movie as opposed to buying or renting a DVD. Which actor/actress will do better in the DVD Rental and Sales and TV re-runs? Which sort of movies will do better in the DVD rentals and TV re-runs.
