OlderZac Efron Lets Donors Choose
Zac Efron delivers several boxes of donated school supplies, including a new video camera, to a classroom at John Adams Middle School in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old High School Musical star talked with students on behalf of DonorsChoose.org, the non-profit website rolling out to schools nationwide to fulfill classroom needs and foster innovation.
According to their official website, DonorsChoose.org is a simple way to provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack. Teachers submit project proposals for materials or experiences their students need to learn. These ideas become classroom reality when concerned individuals, whom are called Citizen Philanthropists, choose projects to fund.

So glad Zac is helping out in our low income schools. They really need help with much needed supplies and materials. I am very impressed with Zac and Vanessa’s generosity. Wow! This confirms what his fans already knew about Zac - that he could care less about his fame bringing him money (which he has said in interviews) and is more interested in using it to help others. His celebrity status is so new, and yet he wastes no time putting it to good use for the benefit of others.
I am so proud of him that I can barely see straight, LOL! The power of fame, when placed in the right hands, can be used to make such a difference in the world. Zac certainly is demonstrating that he is worthy of such power and influence, and I can’t wait to see how he continues to use his celebrity status in the future.

And, I have to agree, I think Z is even more attractive because he is a beautiful person inside and out! Also, A difference between him and some other celebs is that he doesn’t go out and make a big deal of the fact that he is doing charity work. He just does it and it isn’t an exercise in publicity. If there were no photos, I doubt we would have even known about it.

i hate it when people say that he looks miserable when he is with vanessa. nobody is stupid enough to smile ALL THE TIME, especially if you are out in public. a photo takes about a millisecond to shoot, and hundreds of photos can be shot in just 5 minutes. unless you are in the red carpet, 5 mintues is just too long to hold a smile! even stars do not look camera-ready all the time, you know?
if i were a star, i wouldnt smile at a pap either — unless its a public appearance. smiling would just mean that its alright for them to invade my privacy.

I can’t tell you how wonderful I think this cause is. Working in our public schools is quite a challenge these days, because of the decrease in state and local funding. Our schools have had to do without new textbooks, and even finding paper is sometimes a challenge. But it is worth every minute I spend with my students. I so applaud Zac’s taking on this cause….it is SO worthwhile, and love him for it! Thanks, Zac!!!!
yeah, Zac and Van since the early years has done many charity events. So, this is nothing new.. Both Z and V are great people.

I like zac’s hair cut. Looks like his natural color. I wonder if the coloring they used for Hairspray was the wash-out type. Because his hair in HSM2 wasn’t as dark as it was in Hairspray, but was still darker than his natural color.

#74 I know that other people have responded to this but this really irritates me. The reason why you don’t see Vanessa giving her time like Zac is doing here is because YOU DON”T BOTHER TO LOOK. Levi and Bekkah I think we should just respect their decision to shut down the site. Obvious it was for a good reason. The girls on the Zanessa Source are seriously the sweetest girls ever! I know, I kind of felt sorry for Zac when I read that. I mean come on, along with the donated school supplies, this has seriously risen the profile of this charity. I wouldn’t be surprised if more people became involved after seeing this. I think the teacher maybe doesn’t understand that you have to start somewhere, and a little step like this may be all that’s needed.
Zac by himself can’t solve the schools issues but by him bringing a little publicity to it’s cause maybe it can help a bit. And both Zac & Vanessa have done things for charities in the past.

And, for what it’s worth, I didn’t know about this program and now I’m going to check it out and see how I can help and tell others…so, Zac did make at least that difference…I think the teacher underestimates his reach. I’m sure like so many, he/she assumes that only young ‘uns care about Zac Efron and therefore those who can contribute won’t even know this happened…well, wrong. Anyway, I’m still very glad he did this and I’m sure all those kids are…and not just for seeing him, but for having these new supplies.

I guess what I meant to say was I went through his blog spot and read some of his blogs and really feel like (and I’m trying to be nice here) This (man) teacher is a little full of himself and I think might be a little jealous of Zac’s influence on our youth. I don’t like to put anyone down who is educating our youth, they have such a hard row to hoe and usually spend a lot of extra time and their own money to help their students. I just think he would be a little more appreciative that with Zac’s notariety and Donors Choose items that were given, would give notice to his school and students who so justly need and deserve these things.
Kim, I hadn’t read the rest of the blog but after you mentioned it, I read a little further. The teacher does come across as very dedicated to his students and wanting to improve their learning skills and I do have to agree with some of his ideas. He kind of reminds me of my Year 12 English teacher who would go out of her way to help us, beyond what was required of her.

I must say something for my boy: Isn’t he wonderful? I expect we will see many more things like this from him in the future.
Loved how the girl’s were all smiling and looking at Zac I wonder if they told them he was coming, what a great treat for them and Zac looked really happy and relaxed to be their doing his bit for education.
Glad he’s got rid of the pony tail I have to admit I was’nt a big fan, but love his hair the way it is now it really suits him.
And why do people keep slagging Vanessa off for not doing charity work or attending charity event’s when she does, the difference is that she does’nt broadcast it to the press and like’s to keepit low key it seems which is good that why it’s about the charity and not just about Vanessa doing it for publicity and not really caring, same as Zac they do it becuase they want to give something back to the kids and good for them.
I guess I can understand the teacher’s cynicism to a certain extent. I can imagine its frustrating that the reason why this got any coverage was because of the involvement of a celebrity. I think his annoyance is directed at the publicity machine itself and not really at Zac, he admits he barely knows who he is. And as I said I can understand that.
On the other hand if not for Zac’s involvement I wouldn’t know about this situation or the good work that this organization does, and that’s a good thing. From what I read of the blog I don’t doubt the man’s dedication to his profession and his students but I do think he could have been more appreciative.
So I kind of have mixed feelings about he said.

Nice going Zac! Great to see him out and about doing a good deed for others. Also great to see him alone being himself. We all forget that this guy has his own idenity and need not be constantly be called Zanessa. She too has her own personna and probably enjoys just being Vanessa. At any rate, they have so much now and it’s great to see them sharing with others who do not.
