Hairspray! The Beat Goes On
Entertainment Weekly takes a sneak peek at the Hairspray DVD (release date November 20, 2007) and shares a video of the song, “I Can Wait.”
This wistful sweet ballad was composed especially for the film as a solo for heroine Tracy Turnblad (played by Nikki Blonsky), and was actually shot for the film, but was eventually deleted before the final release.
The scene shows Tracy singing the ballad while locked up in Prudy Pingleton’s bomb shelter basement, interspersed with montages of events that took place earlier in the movie.

Nikki can actually act. She’s talented enough to pull off any role. And IA Jules, although Nikki is quite capable of playing the love interest…that’s not what all roles are. Nikki will blow us away with any role she plays.
So your saying it’s impossible for a beautiful plus size girl to find love? That’s a laugh.
I think she is capable of playing the love interest, absolutely, there is no reason to think that a sane, mature man wouldnt find her attractive and her personality wonderful. Not all males think like teenage boys.

also right before she started Hairspray. she has actually lost 55 pounds. but Adam (the director) made her gain it back. because Tracy is supposed to be big.
Nikki could play a love interest!!! Real love has nothing to do with current beauty standards!
In hairspray it had nothing to do with love interest but who Tracy was. Everyone fell in love with this character because she didn’t care what the world said she knew what she was meant for.
Nikki doesn’t need a man to define her in this world and that is what is so great about her. She knows what she wants and goes for it.
I mean if John Travolta put the effort in helping her out than she has something that he believes in. I mean everyone in the cast loved Nikki because she is a woman that knows what she wants.
That is why we all love Nikki because she’s got talent and she wouldn’t have gotten this far without it!
And in a movie if she becomes someone’s love interest it would be believable. Look at Queen Latifah, she’s a big woman but she does well in the love interest department. So, for all ya’ll that say because she’s big she can’t be loved you are out of your minds!
Get real! Whether you are fat or skinny you can be loved.
I have no problem with Nikki, very talented and beautiful girl :)
But for those that are saying Nikki turned him into a man… well, I think Vanessa had that one covered :) …. on his BIRTHDAY! LOL
Seriously, if you didn’t notice Zac before Nikki, that’s fine. But what is really the measure of a man? Seeing some woman besides him? That’s pretty shallow, lol.
Hollywood I think is going to stand up and take notice with Nikki. I think hollywood is slowing moving in the right direction and I think a person with as much talent and charisma as Nikki will help that change along. Oh and for the person that said Nikki could never play a love interest did you actually see Hairspray uhhh she was the love interest to none other than Zac Efron and trust me the chemistry those two had just oozed off the screen and yes it was veryyyyy believable. Not everybody is a size 0 and not every guy wants a woman that is a size 0.
Thank you Nikki Blonsky for making girls like me believe that I can to anything and that I can make it in Hollywood!
She is an amazing actress and an amazing person, she is a positive roll model for many!

Posh our point is that most of the time Zac looks miserable with Vanessa and with Nikki he’s adorkable!
We are not measuring Zac according to who he is with but we are comparing how different he is with each one.

Since this topic is supposed to be about Nikki I am trying to refrain from talking about V…but it seems like most of you haters are just Vanessa fans. My ? is if you really think Zac and Nikki will never happen why so much hate toward Nikki?

I’m not a “vanessa fan” but i don’t how you guys think that one person who’s been in one movie is gonna “change” hollywood. It’s kind of funny.
And a lot of men say they like curvy girls more than super skinny ones.
Nikki recieved praise from the entire cast of HS, Adam and the crew, and many critics.
Any Nikki hate has nothing to do with her talent and ability.
Great to see some news about Nikki! Thanks for finally giving her some solo time. She was super in Hairspray and John Travolta said she was so sophisticated and amazing that he was blown away by her! I would say that’s a pretty good testament to her talent.
Hopefully we will see and hear much more about Nikki Blonsky in the near future. She is an inspiration to young girls everywhere. Loved seeing her and Zac work so well together. For two young people they were very professional and had great chemistry . Can’t wait for the DVD.
