Here are the first pictures of Tom Cruise in a fat suit and bald cap shooting his cameo for Ben Stiller’s new comedyTropic Thunder.
Tom is believed to be playing a studio mogul in the movie, which also stars Matthew McConaughey (replaced Owen Wilson), Robert Downey, Jr., Jack Black, Nick Nolte, Bill Hader and Justin Theroux.
Tropic Thunder is about a group of actors shooting a big-budget war movie and through a series of freak occurrences, they are forced to become the soldiers they are portraying.
The funny flick is scheduled for a July 11, 2008 release.

Wow what a disguise. It does look interesting. Miapocca and Libraesque get a life and stop stalking Tom Cruise. And what hurts you the most is that you know Lions for Lambs would have performed worse if Tom Cruise were not in it. It has made more than 20 million in its first week more than other War on Terror pictures when it has no action and is all talk. Plus critics loved Tom’s performance. If that hurts, am sorry.
He has to be one of the greatest actors of all time. By the way, check the box office numbers LFL has picked up nicely and is doing well abroad. It has a budget of 35 million and has made over 20 million in the first week. That is pretty decent for a war on terror movie.

The problem is that you are all so used to the big budget Cruise movies which draw in audiences of all genre. The budget includes marketing costs. It doesn’t matter which actor, this movie is hard to market and even its performance is much better than other war on terror movies released by bigger studios like Rendition. If it wasn’t for United Artists, such an important movie would never have seen the light of day. I didn’t here any one calling Babel a flop when it cost 25 million allegedly and bagged only 35. Never mind that it was easier to sell than Lions for Lambs.
Besides the way it is going, am sure the movie will make 100 million. It clearly is not a money making movie and am sure the intention of the studio was not to make huge amounts off it but to tell an important story.

Brillant Actor? I think not. If Tom Cruise is a brillant actor, then what noun would you use to describe, Tim Robbins, Sean Penn, Morgan Freeman, Russell Crowe, Don Cheadle, Robin Williams, Jude Law, Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Clive owens, Daniel Craig, Edward Norton, Ethan Hawke, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, just to name a few. These actors have given outstanding Oscar worthy performances in more than one of their films.
Tom Cruise is a world famous celebrity whose movies has gross millions; that is not the criteria for a great/brillant actor. If it were, many of the actors mentioned above would be hacks; Tom Cruise is just one lucky SOB.
It’s unfortunate that they chose TC to play in “Lions for Lambs”, I won’t see it even for free. They would have done better to use Edward Norton, he would have been outstanding with Redford and Streep.

I doubt any other actor would ahve made Lions for Lambs sell. It is a war movie people and a war that we are losing. If we were winning, it would have been popular and many Bin Laden / Saddam movies would have been released by now. This movie is the best performing war movie. A mighty heart has been released for three months but has not even made 17 million yet this movie made 22 already in one week which is no mean feat. Give credit where it is due. Tom has sold this movie and sold it well.

As for the role of a producer, I would like to see that, he is excellent in Lions for Lambs, it is a pity it is not your typical family movie and box office picture. However it has done well considering and I don’t doubt that part of the reason it has done well is because of the Cast including Cruise. He is very good at what he does. I never let his beliefs detract me from the actor in him.
