VIOLET: I actually understand you met some Hollywood celebrities like Angelina Jolie when you were in Los Angeles?

THORNYCROFT: Oh I did, I had dinner with Angelina Jolie and we shared jokes and she’s terribly intelligent and my god she was well briefed on Zimbabwe. She really had done her homework before I met her and she had done her homework on me which is all a bit embarrassing. I thought it was a bit overblown and basically I’ve never been a journalist who kind of goes for the limelight or you know in that celebrity sphere that is very American and very different from the upbringing I’ve had in journalism.

Nevertheless, nevertheless it was good to meet her, she’s just done this extraordinary film about Daniel Pearl the Wall Street journalist who was killed in Pakistan. She plays Daniel Pearl’s wife. Her husband Brad Pitt, the night she came to give me my award, was babysitting the kids. He was one of the producers of that film. So a) she had become interested in journalism, b) she has a particular interest in Africa as she has two children with strong African connections.

Hers and Brad’s baby was born in Namibia and they’ve adopted an Ethiopian Child. So they are very, very interested in Africa and she’s terribly nice. I mean she’s just so ordinary. But my god you see the Hollywood press flashing away with their flashes and it’s a totally different world!

Thanks Janice for posting that interview on the previous thread. I heard an interview of Ms. Thornycroft a couple of days after the awards ceremony and found her fascinating and courageous. I’m glad to see she was very impressed with Angie.

I posted this before, but in case anyone missed it. It’s an interview of Angie talking about playing Grendel’s mother in Beowulf. She goes into detail about the feet and tail.

There are other actors; Anthony Hopkins, Robin Wright Penn, etc in Beowulf…Do remember them? They are the ones that most of the viewing audience are probably buying tickets to go see. These characters and others are the ones that most of the movie revolves around. Try looking at the big picture for once.

The GMD is currently working on a cameo for Ben Stiller’s new movie Tropic Thunder. Ben of course is balls deep in bed with Tom Cruise, also committing to United Artists and the GMD to star in the Hardy Men Movie with shooting scheduled to begin next year.

She did not look like she was three months pregnant and her voice was so mysterious. What a wonderful movie. My two teenage boys want to see it again. Regards to all JP fans and remember ignore the NAGATIVES.

I HOPE ANGIE DID GET THE KID A FUR COAT! It will be the closest thing these children have to a pet given this family’s lifestyle.

I saw Beowulf last night at Universal Studios City Walk on IMAX. It is a very good and entertaining movie! I recommend it to anyone to judge for themselves. Don’t hate people! Only a lowlife does that without any bases.

Angelina Jolie has finally gotten a hit movie.

“Beowulf,” the motion capture film directed by Robert Zemeckis, looks like it will have a $27 million weekend. On Friday night it took in over $9 million and handily grabbed the top dollar spot from “American Gangster.”

In the film, Angelina Jolie speaks with the same accent she had in “The Mighty Heart”—call it her foreign accent. But more importantly, she’s naked!

In school, “Beowulf” — which used to be about a monster named Grendel — was the book you couldn’t get people to read. But add in a naked Jolie — and voila! — serious literature is now ready for the mass audience.

With this success, though, Zemeckis and Jolie might be interested in remaking more texts that have been abandoned over time. Are we ready for Proust or Homer in this fashion? Yes! As long as a naked Angelina Jolie is added to the mix!

“Brad said he had wanted to experience Fallingwater ever since he took an architectural history course in college,” said curator Cara Armstrong. “He and I talked quite a bit about design and art. He was incredibly well-informed about architecture.”

Armstrong said she led Pitt and Jolie on a two-hour tour Thursday that was followed by a private birthday celebration for Pitt in Fallingwater’s living room. The actor will be 43 on Dec. 18.

“Brad said he had a visual sense of Fallingwater but experiencing it in person, hearing the sound of the waterfall cascading under the house and smelling the wood from the fireplace, was better than anything he could have imagined,” Armstrong said.

Great pixs of mom and eldest son. Mad looks so happy, he is a very well adjusted child. The Lycee in LA is private and not directly on the street like the Lycee in NYC (trivia-Jodie Foster is a graduate of the Lycee), so Mad has no paps following him on a daily basis. I ventured over to X17 to watch the video and Angie can wheel that big suv. I admire her for that ability, I drive a small car and can barely park it. LOL. Usually drive around and around until I find a wide spot to park.

That pink whatever peeping out of the shoppng bag must be something for the girls. For all anyone knows Angie could have met her stylist there and picked up some things for the kids. Bag is not big enough for fur, those on that train need to hop off.

ROME — An Italian circuit court ruled Friday that reporting gossip in Italy will be illegal unless it helps make a larger point about the figure in question.

The case is part of a wider effort to improve standards on Italian television. State broadcaster RAI said this year that it would stop airing reality programming when current contracts run out, and the company also announced plans to remove advertising from one of its three networks by the end of 2009 in order to allow it to broadcast more cultural programs without consideration for economic factors.

Upon announcing the ruling, the Rome court said it would “remove gossip that exists only for gossip’s sake.” But critics said it will have little impact on content producers adept at framing reporting so that it can take on an unexpected context.

The most significant aspect may be that it gives prosecutors ammunition for attacking problematic programs that are guilty of breaking only the anti-gossip rules.

“Everyone will abuse the gossip rules, but now those who do will risk being sanctioned,” said one television producer quoted by news agency ANSA. “The rules cannot be enforced universally but some will have to worry about their rivals using the rules against them.”

The rules apply to television, print and radio media.

As a fan of Brad and Angie, I am so happy for both of them. They are truly blessed in every way, their family life, healthy, happy and loving, their movie careers thriving and their philanthropic endeavours admirable.
The tabloids can spin their tale of lies but hopefully more people will realize that it a waste of time, money and energy to even pay attention to them.

Brad and Angelina are going to do all they possibly can to keep their loving relationship and happy family intact. They are older, and have both learned from previous relationships what works and what does not, and have totally invested all that they are to survive and thrive. They’ve learned when to give and when to take. They have experienced together both a birth and a death, which are both major life altering experiences. They both have major mother and father genes now activated and those are powerful forces in these two. What the nolifers refuse to acknowledge is that this relationship between Brad and Angelina has super glue, a true partnership with much love for each other and much love for those four little children, holding it super tightly together. Neither Brad nor Angelina is going anywhere else anytime soon, if ever. Not saying that they won’t have bumps in the road, all relationships do, but neither is going to walk away, they will find a way to work things out. That’s the way things are and will be. No negative blogging nolifers, no negative tabloids can alter what is reality.

I watched the last 15 minutes of Oprah today. Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts were her guests and Oprah gave them the platform to wax poetic about their respective mates. Both actresses are credit with the success of the movie but only one has continued to work, get scripts, maintain a successful career, do U.N. work while raising a family and being adored by millions(for you don’t become one of the world’s most famous people without fans). There are some kinds of fur I’d never wear. I wouldn’t wear any fur from an endangered species.
But most fur in this country comes from ranched animals, just like most meat comes from ranched animals.

Yes Maddox does seem totally at ease with the paps in these pics. He has had some time away from them in LA and that seems to have been a benefit for him. He seems to be growing so much so fast, it’s like he turned six and zoom!! Angie has the strength to still pick him up but he is getting so tall that she won’t be able to do so for much longer. Oh well, she has three other little ones she can keep carrying for a while to come.
