So much nasty Jake G. hatred. He was brilliant in both Zodiac and Rendition. I totally agree with vicky, kel and anon. Esquire picked Jake’s performance in Rendition for all the right reasons. Here is what they had to say about it and I totally agree:

I think Jake gave an excellent performance in Rendition and deserves to be on the cover with those great actors. Don’t care what the haters say. So glad that Esquire went against the typical critic response and paid attention to Jake’s work.

Honestly I read that someone in his family is in the publishing bus do they work for Esquire really so sad to overlook some really stellar performances. Examples Viggo, Chris Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones.

I would rather see Shia instead of Emile and Christian Bale instead of Jake for the younger actors. Disturbia was better then Into The Wild and Bale is amazing in 3:10 to Yuma. JG wasn’t great in anything this year.

Thank you AJ. Esquire has every right to chose the performances they think were great. Clearly they have others listed in the magazine. They are allowed to thought Jake did a good job in Rendition even if other critics didn’t.

My favorites are Denzel, Bob and,of course, Jake!
Unfortunately, for while, I watched only ZODIAC but to me the trio in the cover is enough!

I am delighted that Javier is finally being recognized for his great acting talent. No need to say anything about Robert Downey Jnr - always superb. But how can such a list not include Viggo (Eastern Promises), Chris Cooper (Breach) and the one and only Benicio del Toro (Things were lost in the Fire). Is it because they appeared in smaller films? And don’t believe that Esquire (which I read every month) doesn’t act under outside influences, in this case studio pressure for the upcoming awards season.

Good for Cate this year she has to win the main AWARD (oscar). She’s in “I’m not there” and I saw “Elyzabeth the golden age” she was just great.

Esquire is clearly under studio influence here. Nothing interesting about these choices.

The reviews for Rendition were mostly negative or mixed in the USA. In the UK and Canada the movie got mostly positive reviews and Jake’s performance was mostly praised. A big Italian newspaper “il Corriere della Sera” said that the performances in Rendition make the movie worth seeing and they praised Jake’s performance. There are other reviewers out there not just American.

The third is a film that he has not seen the script for because it hasn’t been written yet; when it is written it will be by a woman who has never written a script before, and is only able to get support to do this because of who her father is. If he has not read the script yet, why does he want to do it; because he is a true actor or because he is just a cheap celebrity? Also the plot sounds ridiculous.

This relationship with Reese Witherspoon, real or not has put him in a bad light and contradicts the things that he has said in the past. He will never recover from it, I promise you! If he can’t even live by his own rules….. Reese Witherspoon is nothing. She is a bad actress and a bad mother. Her husbands’ side of the bed wasn’t even cold before she wheeled Jake in there to play happy families. She was a ‘has been’ before she hooked her name to his. His star was shining the brightest. Maybe she could command more money, but that just comes from being nice to the right people as we know. She doesn’t even have beauty on her side. Yet with her smoke and mirrors she tries to act like butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth when she got married only because she was already pregnant with her first child. They want us to feel inferior to them when they are frauds (Do as I say not as I do). It has always been that way in Hollywood. I wouldn’t break wind over her or her movies. I don’t watch them and I never have. Before she hooked up with him, if you asked me to name an actress her name would not come into my mouth, really. I would name actresses from the 40s, never her.

When they have squeezed as much cash out of his name and image as they can, they will toss him away like a soiled tissue and move on to the next person and then he can shed tears instead.

I like this actress very much and historic films too but I can’t watch this character more. Betty Davis did this character “Elizabeth” very well. In the past the writers of film haven’t fear to ask the teachers of history…The film “Land of Pharaohs” (Joan Collins and Howard Hawkins) por example. The writers ask the archeologists about this unknow period of history of Egypt. The most part of this film would be maked in studios! And look at the films today. The actors and actresses use the studios to have sex adventuries like Jake Gyllenhaal, Angelina Jolie etc. And worse the audience must pay for their sexual parties
not their films because they are a garbage! The profissional actors and actresses must make old characters and old themes like leathers of mafia, assaults, robbers carees…violents films! You can see their failure films!!! The advertisements and the paparazzis help them all time long!!! Look at the level of films at present and the level of films in the past!!! The son and daughter of this directors or actors don’t have a normal life and their families don’t have structure nor principle nor instruction. There are one of them whose are engineer or work in a hospital as good doctor (there are good doctor and bad doctors)? There are one of them whose study chemistry etc? Perhaps Natalie Portman but she isn’t american and his parents don’t are actors or actresses! This year I wouldn’t like to see the Golden Globe or Oscar. I don’t have wish to see the meeting between neighbors( or fight between them) and the promiscuous behavior of actors and actresses whose are lovers of Hollywood leathers . Those prize don’t have value for me. From now on I decide what kind of film I would watch and actor or actress I think that is a profissional. I don’t need help more of press and their preferences. OMG, this movie is the major symbol of current Hollywood which you said hating.
About to copy movies of other countries, in my opinion, maybe it´s a way to try reinvent olds things.
I think the most important in a movie is a good story very well told.
I adore cinema and I spend time and money (not too much) therefore. Sometimes I liked the movie I watched, sometimes no! But I´ve still have a fun to do it!

It is the problem when the people don’t have background. Noboby believe in their arguments and their premises are failure. The real name in classic literature of 300 is The 300 of Sparta. Lot of people read old classic literatur. It is like classical music. Classical music is better then modern one!. You can see in 300 several things that there isn’t more. You can see that the man in the past weren’t this cowards like the present man. The great Empire of earth were builded with this kind of man…etc!!!

The last best classic of Hollywood, in my opinion, was GLADIATOR, movie which I can compare to Spartacus, Ben Hur…
The rest (Alexander, Troy and “300″ were pasteurised classics, not really “art” as literature).

In Stuttgart capital of Baden Würtemberg where I lived I can find quickly a friend whose could help me with computer. Baden Würtenberg is the state of Germany whose has more industry. Over there we can find people whose understand about electtronics. I had a chinese friend that was a cientist and he works in Max Planck Institut. He could set up or take apart a computer…I live in a german state whose the maily activity is turism and it is difficult to find a person whose work if eletronic here.
