OlderAngelina’s Adopted Daughter Conceived During Rape?
The Ethiopian baby adopted by Angelina Jolie was conceived after her mother was raped, reports Reuters.
Mentwabe Dawit, mother of two-year-old Zahara, claims she was 24-years-old when she attacked one evening in 2004 after a day’s work at a construction site in the southern Ethiopian town of Awasa.
“[A man approached me in the darkness.] He pulled a dagger, put one hand on my mouth, so that I could not scream. He then raped me and disappeared,” Mentwabe said with tears streaming down her face. “[I kept the assault a secret because] I feared the consequences of being raped in a community where rape is considered a taboo, even if what happened happened forcibly.”
Mentwabe gave birth in the family’s earth-floored house and she named the little girl Yemsrach which means good news in the Amharic language.
“I was unable to feed Yemsrach,” Mentwabe said. “My baby was on the verge of death. She became malnourished and was even unable to cry. I was desperate and decided to run away, rather than see my child dying… “I have never disputed the adoption of my baby by Angelina Jolie. I think my daughter is a very fortunate human being to be adopted by a world famous lady. I wish them both all the success they deserve.”
There’s also a video report of Mentwabe talking about how fortunate Zahara is to have been adopted by Angelina.

It is wonderful that Zee has the opportunity to live a good life, even if she was conceived in rape, she is precious and a treasure to all who love her. May her birth mother be able to live life in peace knowing that the child she gave birth to has a good life.

I totally agree with you. Dispite the heinous way Z was conceived, I hope her birth mother will be able to get some peace of mind knowing that Z is alive, healthy and being cared for, and has all the opportunities the world has to offer.
Good for you Jared for making that special NOTE, because i’m so sick and tired of coming on here, especially on a BP and AJ thread only to read all the trash and filth.

This is a sad story all the way around. Zahara looks like Mentwabe. For all the people who have never experienced REAL poverty, this is what its like, to have no resource to feed your own baby. No future, no hope.

Why or should I say ritzy - and how do you know this? How do you know that this was Angelina’s intention? Were you there? No. So I suggest you stop spewing what your ‘ill - informed’ views, as you are making yourself look like a complete @ss.
Are you some type of eternal pessimist? Ofcourse Brad and Angelina can’t realistically save the whole world, but are you faulting them for trying to do at least something? Whether it be thinking about environmental issues or refugees. Talk about cold and heartless.

I think Angelina is the best mom in the world and deserves Zahara and Mantawabe deserves the Academy award to be shared by the other women who are Z’s bio mom’s.

I am so disgusted by this whole story and this woman who CLAIMS to have be Z’s mother. This is so obviously a sensationalized, attention grabbing story, as with anything to do with Angelina. I, too, wish that Brad’s publicist will end their silence on this sick lie as it seems to be growing like wildfire. The saddest part of all this is that some family out there will decide against adopting overseas, denying a child’s life be saved, and all because those trashy tabs need to continue their smears against Angie, and now her oldest daughter, Zee.

And Jared, why are you warning people to be sensitive when you yourself are NOT being sensitive to this family and especially to this little girl? Very hypocritical.
You call Jared a hypocrite because he has posted this story which you have deemed to be insensitive. If you had a problem with the posting of this report, then you should have moved on and ignored it, but here you are clicking on this story, giving this story a hit, making a comment and thus adding to the attention it’s receiving, rather than diffusing it. So I ask you, are you not being a hypocrite as well?
She’s cute. The most important now is that she has a wonderful mom and dad that cares her.

Like i say, maybe i’m wrong for saying that Brad needs to publicly defend Angelina!! But i said it; because sometimes i get SICK and TIRED of the attacks that Angelina gets!! So Yeah, i don’t think that it’s Fair to say that Brad needs to defend Angelina and questioning him; to why he has not defend her!!
