OlderAngelina’s Adopted Daughter Conceived During Rape?
The Ethiopian baby adopted by Angelina Jolie was conceived after her mother was raped, reports Reuters.
Mentwabe Dawit, mother of two-year-old Zahara, claims she was 24-years-old when she attacked one evening in 2004 after a day’s work at a construction site in the southern Ethiopian town of Awasa.
“[A man approached me in the darkness.] He pulled a dagger, put one hand on my mouth, so that I could not scream. He then raped me and disappeared,” Mentwabe said with tears streaming down her face. “[I kept the assault a secret because] I feared the consequences of being raped in a community where rape is considered a taboo, even if what happened happened forcibly.”
Mentwabe gave birth in the family’s earth-floored house and she named the little girl Yemsrach which means good news in the Amharic language.
“I was unable to feed Yemsrach,” Mentwabe said. “My baby was on the verge of death. She became malnourished and was even unable to cry. I was desperate and decided to run away, rather than see my child dying… “I have never disputed the adoption of my baby by Angelina Jolie. I think my daughter is a very fortunate human being to be adopted by a world famous lady. I wish them both all the success they deserve.”
There’s also a video report of Mentwabe talking about how fortunate Zahara is to have been adopted by Angelina.

How’s W-H-OLIFER WHOLISTON doing? Is she still in Portland?
Hay, I found a picture of her and Orlando in Cannes 2004 at the premier of Troy. The picture shows, Brad, Jen, and Orlando standing together. Jen was standing far away from Brad, yet she was standing very close to Orlando, whispering something in his ears.
I got this feeling that she was scheming, once again to get Orlando because she knew her marriage was coming to an end.

I agree with those who say this is a disturbing trend in the media. Why print this in a celebrity blog? If I was thinking of adoption, and I was a celebrity, I would be having second thoughts right now. Stories like this are going to cause children who need homes not get them because people will be afraid of birth parents coming back to haunt them.

I’m very confused. Some report the mother was raped (so tragic) and couldn’t care for her daughter - as said above - whilst others claim she died of AIDs. Whichever one is the truth, they are both tragic. God bless this woman.
It must have been a truly heart-wrenching time, to give away her daughter. But, she knew it was the only way her daughter would be given a chance to live…food & clean water.
Zahara is a beautiful precious little girl, God bless Ange and Brad (also) for taking care of her…and giving Zee a the chance at life she deserved. The chance at life all children deserve.
They truly have inspired me to do the same the moment I’m old enough to.

Ok this story is most likely untrue. Right now some of the biggest money scams towards Americans come out of Africa. Why? Because Americans seem to be gullable to believe anything they read, hint email scams & mail scams. This seems to be an very well ochestrated lie to get money from the media outlets that will pay for a fabricated story without one ounce of “paternity” or “dna” before spewing out a story. Just reading some of the comments here proves that people pretty much beleive everything they read before authenication is given. Those who say she looks like “Z” well there are probably a lot of people in Ethiopia that may have similarities to her but that doesn’t mean they are related just like there is somebody in our country that may look like us, but that doesn’t mean we are related. This story is heartless and very mean spirited because it is putting a horrible story out there about an innocent child who probably knows she is adopted but might/will have to hear about the lies that the media made up about her adoption because of whom she was adopted by. What next Maddox or Pax mother is going to rise from the dead or come forth to make claims on them??? I think proof should be given first before everyone jump to conclusion that this piece of news is true. I feel bad for Angelina & Brad because no matter how strong they may be as parents, no parent, especially the woman can handle her children being attacked by opportunist who want to see their demise just because of who they are, or who their parents are. It’s very sad.

The first time this woman claimed she was the mother in 2005, that’s what the Ethiopian court did and found that she wasn’t the mother. Why can’t people get through that?

Why did Reuters find the need to report this? Is it really necessary for Zahara to be able to find out in future that she was conceived from rape? The adoption was legal, Zahara was saved from death, and she is now part of a happy fmily. What good can be achieved from these findings? When Angie chose to adopt a child from Ethiopia, this was the child that was given to her. She was told at that time that the mother of the child had died. What was the reason behind Reuters’ need to hunt this woman down if indeed this is truly Zahara’s birth mother? How can they justify this as news that the public needs to be aware of?

What a shame that the only way the media will cover Ethiopia is because of a tabloid story. Angelina has been a humanitarian and traveled to Ethiopia with the UNHCR. How full cirlce is it that she would adopt a disadvataged child from the region. Angelina is beauty. The others involved in all of this are all a hot mess.

There are many that were conceived as a result of crime such as rape. But the sad thing here is that Zahara’s story (or so claimed by this woman) has to be plastered all over the media, which she will learn about it after so many people already know about it. I just hope that this news will break to her (sooner or later I’m afraid) from her parents, not from her peers (whose parents now have read this) or sharks like the papps. Whoever went hunting for dirt — journalists CATERING to HATERS and the MiniVan Majority, AniSTONERS, who NEED Jolie-Pitt in plight — feel SHAME. I would just like to make a statement regarding X’s Vanity Fair excerpt a few posts up the board. It is very clearly stated by her that the marriage couldn’t be reconciled. She says the relationship was complicated and not just one thing but many things caused its demise. This is true in many ended relationships if not all. With that said, that excerpt above should clearly be seen in concurrence to what Brad and Angelina have said all along. Attraction? Yes. Cheating? No. Brad and X grew apart long before Angelina came along. They both changed, wanted different things in the relationship as well as in life. X states there are many things she’d do differently if they remained a couple. Hindsight is always 20/20. I doubt if she’d change for long before reverting by to the old ways. That’s why relationships hit snags and lag on… running in place. We revert to our old ways. Again, any other interpretation is beyond my understanding.
For the record, people aren’t stolen. They might get abducted or kidnapped but never stolen
I think that it is quite outrageous that this “information”, true or false, about the circumstances of Zahara’s birth has been made public.
JJ, I love your Blog but you should not have posted this. Every person, especially a young child, has the right to privacy especially if this really happened. It has nothing to do with the fact that her parents are famous, EVERY child has the right to that privacy. If it is true that she is indeed Zahara’s birthmother, it is obvious that Angelina Jolie adopted her in good faith and any wrong doing was done by those who lied when offering her for adoption. Btw I am not a big fan but enough is enough.

Well, you said it yourself. Brad Pitt LEFT his wife. The marriage was in trouble, they didn’t have a reason to stay together anymore. Unlike you and good for you to have a wife who also adores you. Brad didn’t.
