OlderAngelina’s Adopted Daughter Conceived During Rape?
The Ethiopian baby adopted by Angelina Jolie was conceived after her mother was raped, reports Reuters.
Mentwabe Dawit, mother of two-year-old Zahara, claims she was 24-years-old when she attacked one evening in 2004 after a day’s work at a construction site in the southern Ethiopian town of Awasa.
“[A man approached me in the darkness.] He pulled a dagger, put one hand on my mouth, so that I could not scream. He then raped me and disappeared,” Mentwabe said with tears streaming down her face. “[I kept the assault a secret because] I feared the consequences of being raped in a community where rape is considered a taboo, even if what happened happened forcibly.”
Mentwabe gave birth in the family’s earth-floored house and she named the little girl Yemsrach which means good news in the Amharic language.
“I was unable to feed Yemsrach,” Mentwabe said. “My baby was on the verge of death. She became malnourished and was even unable to cry. I was desperate and decided to run away, rather than see my child dying… “I have never disputed the adoption of my baby by Angelina Jolie. I think my daughter is a very fortunate human being to be adopted by a world famous lady. I wish them both all the success they deserve.”
There’s also a video report of Mentwabe talking about how fortunate Zahara is to have been adopted by Angelina.

On July 6, 2005, Jolie adopted a six-month-old girl from Ethiopia, Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt (originally Zahara Marley Jolie), who was orphaned by AIDS. Zahara was born on January 8, 2005 as Tena Adam. Jolie picked her up at a Wide Horizons For Children orphanage in Addis Ababa. Shortly after they returned to the United States Zahara had to spend time in a hospital for dehydration and malnutrition. Jolie stated that “she was six months and not nine pounds. Her skin, you could squeeze it, it stuck together.” Zahara’s name means “flower” in Swahili, the second name “Marley” comes from late Jamaican reggae superstar Bob Marley. Zahara’s nickname is “Z”.
In the months following Zahara’s adoption news reports emerged in which several women either claimed to be her birth mother or her grandmother. While making an appearance on CNN’s The Situation Room Jolie stated that her daughter is an “AIDS orphan.” By that she means her birth mother died from AIDS, but her daughter does not have the disease. The birth father of Zahara is not known. Her statement made it clear that the birth mother is indeed dead. In late October 2005, an Ethiopian judge ruled that there is no evidence to suggest that Jolie would have to file for re-adoption of her daughter. The judge also ruled that a woman claiming to be her mother is not the birth mother.
Brad Pitt was reportedly present when Jolie signed the adoption papers and collected her daughter; later Jolie indicated that she and Pitt made the decision to adopt Zahara together. In December 2005 it was confirmed that Pitt was seeking to legally adopt Jolie’s two children. In support of this bid (and as part of legal requirements), Jolie took out classified advertisements in the Los Angeles paper Daily Commerce announcing the name change request, and on January 19, 2006, a judge in California approved this request. The children’s legal surnames were formally changed to “Jolie-Pitt”.

I feel like crying not out of sadness but out of happiness.
All three adopted children are loved and cared for by their parents.
These kids were really desired by their parents like millions of adopted kids here in America.

You have people bringing garbage from ’so-called’ insider sources for the specific purpose of ruining this thread. Who really believes that. I could claim that I worked on Mr/Mrs Smith too as a costume designer or as a makeup artist.

all this is going way too far, even if the facts are true we don’t have to know that!it’s so private to Zahara’s personnal history. No one thinks about the consequences it may have later in her life. It’s really shameful and i’ve no words to qualify the journalists and all the media lack of sensivity about this story.

Honestly I think it’s great she isnt coming for the baby but should you really post something like this, one day she could come across this, Let the parents tell her when she is older if they so choice to let her know she was conceived from a rape.
#56: frenchy, the journalists sought her out and showed her a picture of Angelina. Now, why only Angie and why they went to find her, we’ll never know. Somebody sent them out there…who’s their editor? Was it the editor’s or the reporter’s idea is debatable. Or maybe someone tipped them off to a good story or paid them to dig for dirt.
Whatever it is, just goes to show that there are really sick people out there. Maybe idle hands with a vendetta.
Ok let me just say that i actually live in africa and this sort of thing happens ALL THE TIME, and this woman probably knows it, I honestly think that she is milking publicity. I do feel sorry for her but at the same time she is just trying to get attention…she should just be greatful that zee is happy and healthy.

OK all of this ish going around actually makes Angelina look the wonderful person she is. It’s a boomerang effect about to hit Outof touch.
For all the stories created about how Z was concieved and how she came to be adopted just makes Angelina & Brad adopting her that more beautiful. In the end Zahara was adopted legally and is living with her mom & dad and siblings.
How could these “reporters” stoop so low? This so-called story is about Zahara, who, as far as I know, is NOT a movie star. Why is she being subjected to all this? Fine - talk about Angelina or Brad. But Zahara? Did these reporters ever wonder how this will affect Zahara when she’s old enough to read? And this is all being done in the name of money; all to increase circulation. It just makes me sick.

Sexist statement. No one is given that kind of power. To me they were mutually engaged() Brad and Angie. As for the marriage, marriages that end are usually over long before anyone, even your mom knows. Its just how people behave. When trouble hits only the two people involved know how long its been over, and they don’t usually speak or act immediately. Thats why IMO though it may look like an overlap to the outside, that marriage was dead long, long before they even acted together in M+MS. There was no life left in that union.

It is smart to read about the world and how we can help to change it. Angelina is only doing her part, and I must add, she is doing a great job. Let’s not expect more, but learn to respect their cooperation and solidarity.
