Brad Pitt Drops ‘State of Play’

Brad Pitt has dropped out of State of Play and Universal Pictures is currently trying to replace him, according to Variety.

If Brad’s character doesn’t recast and get the picture going by Nov. 29, it will begin losing the other actors in the film and Universal can bring a lawsuit against Brad for bailing.

Brad was set to star alongside Edward Norton, Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, Jason Bateman and Robin Wright Penn in the Matthew Michael Carnahan-scripted adaptation of the British miniseries. Brad was playing a politico-turned-journalist who spearheads a newspaper’s investigation of a murder, a trail that leads to the fast-rising pol whose campaigns were once masterminded by Brad’s character.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brad has pulled out because of script concerns and the script cannot be worked on due to the writers strike.

Who could possibly fill the shoes of Brad Pitt??

I don’t think there is any male actor in their 20’s so farthat have shown that they have the staying power to make the A list and stay there for many decades.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ITAWU—(((clapping)))) Not only they don’t have the staying power or talent but they also can not draw the audience to the theater or buy the DVD’s. The first thing my younger son did when he came home was to grab OC13 and AMH DVD and I haven’t seen them yet, it’s going around with all of his friends. But I told him I’d kick his rear-end if I don’t get them back. BTW they are going to see Beowulf tonight. I thought we’d all go together to watch it again as a family :-( Ohhhh well….
As I first reported on November 16th, Universal’s State Of Play starring Brad Pitt was having strike-related problems because “the star isn’t happy with the state of the script”. Boy, was he ever. Universal Pictures just issued this statement: “Brad Pitt has left the Universal Pictures production of ‘State of Play.’ We remain committed to this project and to the filmmakers, cast members, crew and others who are also involved in making the movie. We reserve all rights in this matter.”
#104 LOL Forgot about her chin. That’s a perfect match at long last.
Well, seems like something good came out of this. The Pitt’s will have the opportunity to have a nice long Christmas holiday and
Awww…Shitzo won’t be able to give us an exclusive of Brad from DC anymore. Darn. Yah, f*cking right. I’m glad that instead she’ll have to slave away like a minion covering some lie for her employer. Cancel that ‘ticket’ honey, you ain’t going nowhere. Ha.
+++++++++++++++
Aw, hell. Is Shitzy STILL claiming to be the right-arm of some big DC muckety-muck? I thought she’d given up that tale and made herself head of the CIA? She’s slipping…and I don’t just mean her lying abilities.
Also Seth Rogen seems like he could work himself up to a Will Ferrell level and Shia seems quite capable of being versatile.
oh sheri pie!visit us once in awhile.halo ate char,ate tita,madame guli,madame P.T.feline!happy turkey.oi saraicita!happy birthday!
what no edward norton and brad pitt???? no fight club the second?? waaatt???
36 well…. : 11/21/2007 at 5:18 pm
Brad had a pay or play deal. Thus UP just put out that they might sue so they don’t have to pay Brad. There will be no suit.
Terrible actors don’t have script approval. Ask …well never mind.
+++++++++++++++++
I think it’s nice that you took the time to explain to the trolls why UP isn’t really going to sue Brad. Unfortunately the phrase “pay or play deal” went right over their heads. As did the subtle non-mention of a certain actress who’s overly fond of waxing her crotch.
95 Felinelilly :Greetings to you,i keep stopping in and out making food for tomorrow,thanksgiving.wishing all the jp fans a very “HAPPY HOLIDAY”and a very Blessed one.
My boy Edward Norton put the fear of god into his heart.
++++++++++++++
Whoa Nelly…Back up. I thought the not gaybe was your “boy”? Are you now claiming Ed Norton, too? If so…I knew there was a reason I didn’t like that guy! He’s got Famous Cooties!
piper, with a low @ 11/21/2007 at 6:28 pm
I just don’t understand why haters and fans alike are cr**ming themselves over Brad’s decision.
It’s not like he ever talked about how much he was looking forward to doing this project.
PT, Sheri, Austin, TP, bdj, angel, Tabitha, Lady G, Felinelilly, Janice, andro and to all the fans posting or lurking Happy Thanksgiving.
LITTLE HONEY @ 11/21/2007 at 6:29 pm
Please somebody tell me if Angie finished working on Changeling.
ANGIE AND CLINT EASTWOOD = A WINNING COMBINATION.
I love, love both of them. The best actress, and the best director.
Honestly love them both.
PT—it really is hilarious I read it on Simply Brad last week that brad was not happy with the script and with the strike they didn’t know where it stood. And suddenly this is a shock, ohh really!!!! ROTFLMAO….
Yo–Sheri sent you an email, hey it’s the thought that counts my dear cyber friend happy TG to you too…
50 Famous doesn’t know they are best buds : 11/21/2007 at 5:28 pm
Instead of talking about the stuff Famous doesn’t know, which would take more lifetimes than we’ve got, let’s talk about what Famous DOES know…
Okay…that was fun…thanks for playing, everybody!
